  • Really Great Pack With Potential for Improvement
Color: Coyote
I spent an embarrassing amount of time obsessing over contenders for my edc pack and this one won out. I’m happy with it; good price, comfortable to carry, holds a ton of weight (I’ve carried 53lbs in it so far), has tons of room and for an athletic guy at my build (6’0” 208lbs), it doesn’t feel like a ton of awkward bulk on my frame and all the straps distribute the weight well on longer walks when I’m carrying a lot. The compression straps do a great job of managing pack profile, whether barely- or fully-loaded. The compartments are well-thought out and generous. I like the big loop material panel on the inside of the main compartment (I have so many morale patches and it’s fun to be able to carry a bunch with me to swap out on a whim), and I could see this being useful if I needed to have tear-away packs on my person, too. The stitching and material both seem pretty quality. The color matches issue Air Force boots exactly, which I’m dainty enough to admit was a *minor factor* in buying but not enough to sway a better functioning option—this just happened to check both boxes. (Tbh I kind of wish this were available in ocp, and would literally buy a second one if so) I really like that it’s 72hr capable but still makes sense as an edc. If I were a smaller person I might not feel the same way, but I also carry my kitchen sink around for “End Times” shenanigans, so like… maybe not, come to think of it. Some things I’d like different in the next version? If there’s a way to make the admin panel on the front detachable, it’d be a huge win. Condor makes one like that but I specifically avoided Condor like the plague they are. Also, the laser cut PALS lattice seems a little thin, which could just be in my head and it might be totally fine but it just looks and feels like it won’t support much weight; time will tell when I actually start mounting accessories on this bag—if I ever even need to. Other packs I considered have thicker material here and that’s a noticeable thing but maybe it’s fine? I appreciate the schoolbag-style stitched pockets for pens and other accessories in the admin panel, but in all honesty the material used for this feels like the weakest link of the construction—that same nylon type canvas that is used in Jansport style bags that rips if you so much as machine wash them…so it doesn’t instill the most confidence, but I do use them. Honestly I would have paid a little extra if the insides featured more PALS panels or webbing, or more loop material to mount my own pouches inside, instead. The waterproofing is kind of a Schrödinger’s Cat thing—it’s both there and not there. The interior of the pack has a vinyl coating that stops water from getting in, but water still gets in around the zippers. If you’ve been out in the rain, plan on opening this puppy up completely for at least a night to dry out. There is a zippered compartment just above the logo at the bottom of the bag that is a pretty sensible spot to stow a pack bonnet to avoid this, but for the life of me I can’t understand why the manufacturer didn’t just sew or button one in here and charge slightly more for it. Lastly, any hydration pack tube routed up through either port beside the carry handle is going to fight with your glasses if you put any kind of glasses in the dedicated glasses pouch. Safety glasses or sport glasses won’t have a hard time with this but thinner wireframes might. At any rate, I’d still recommend to anyone who isn’t shy of carrying a bigger pack at a good price and wants some good features and expandability, even if they aren’t in uniformed services. It’s a sensible pack with great features at a fair price and plenty of potential. Fun fact: There are a couple of loops at the bottom for 1” webbing…you can roll a fleece tight enough to leash to the bottom of the pack using a couple 1” flat elastic blousing straps.(: ... show more

  • Good bag for the price
Color: Od Green
Bag is worth the price. Other brands out there with the same exact bag have it for double the price. LAPG has some legit gear that will hold. Used this bag as a Military school bag for my laptop and travel. The pockets came in handy. I have a field training coming up, and will update the review to see how it holds up getting thrown around. Overall 100% worth it. **UPDATE** Took the bag out to the field and it def came I. Handy with all the compartments. The pouch between was a good call because you can store your MICH, ACH, whatever helmet you have for the field or store documents. The bag held up, after a few weeks in the field and being thrown around in a tactical vehicle in the California desert. Zippers held up. A good field bag for sure in my book ... show more

  • Huge, pretty sturdy, but heavy
Color: Black
I got this 1) as a larger backpack that could fit my 17" laptop, and 2) as a bug-out bag for disaster preparedness or when I'm on-call for work. It is huge and easily fits my 17" laptop. I've failed at keeping it prepped as a bug-out bag, but given it's size I think it could easily serve this function. I love all the pockets! They are great for keeping small things organized and easily accessible; the only problem is remembering what you put where. I really like that the main compartment zips all the way open; this makes packing it and accessing everything very easy. I also like that the MOLLE system will allow you to expand it's carrying capacity in whichever way works best for you. I was initially on the fence but decided I do like the low-profile look of the laser-cut version over the classic design. The only negatives I have are that it is extremely heavy (for a backpack), even when empty, and one of the zipper pulls broke within the first week. I like that the weight makes it feel sturdy, but if I had to carry it for long periods I imagine I would like the weight less. Even minimally loaded I use the waist strap pretty much every time I use it. The waist strap is very effective at taking the load off your shoulders, but when you aren't using it, it either digs into your back or flops uselessly at your sides. It also had one of the zipper pulls break within the first week. I was able to tie it back on and still use the zipper, but it was a bit disappointing. Overall, I think this is a great backpack for intensive applications (e.g., law enforcement, disaster relief, etc.), especially if you can carry it in a vehicle a lot of the time. I'd say it's not particularly well-suited for lighter, daily use (e.g., school, etc.), but then again it's advertised as police gear, not a school backpack, so go figure. :) ... show more

Color: Od Green
Looks great and it stores ALOT of equipment. I just got it and put everything into it for a solid bug out bag. I haven't used it in the field yet but so far looks tough. I did add an additional molle pouch for maps, pens, trauma shears stuff like that. • Super sized
Color: Coyote
This bag is set up for a get home bag in the event needed. It holds actually too much stuff. Temps one to overpack. The bag itself is built to what I would compare as a 511 Tach Bag, but slightly larger. Zippers seem really good and tight, bag material seems like it would last a life time. More internal pockets then you can use. Might actually consider getting the next size down. I do think they did a good job of producing this bag at half the price of other brands making the higher quality bags. ... show more

  • Looks like a great durable backpack
Color: Od Green
I just got the backpack in. I haven't had a chance to test the backpack out yet, but at first glance, it looks like it was put together quite well. This backpack looks like it will be able to put up with some harsh conditions and environment for sure. There's plenty of room in this pack, and you can expect to pack a lot of stuff in this pack. The molle slots on the back is stiff but not too hard, which is perfect to mount on whatever you want. There's molle on the sides too. The shoulder straps have a few slots to mount your small pouches or clip on whatever you need too. It has one of those internal plastic frame where you store your hydration pouch. The frame has its own thin slot/pouch held in place with Velcro. Sleeping bag or pads can be held at the bottom too. This is my first 72 hour backpack, and it was either this or the Condor 72. My buddy has an Condor 72, and his backpack isn't stitched as well as this pack. His backpack might weight a little bit less, but that's it. Good thing I didn't listen to him and buy the same pack as him. Glad I found this pack too. He could see the loose threads and the inside fabric ripped when he was loading it. I can't say for sure this pack is better, but I know it's stitched a lot better for sure. People are saying this is an 5.11 72 styled pack, but I never seen an 5.11 in person or own one. I can't compare quality, but it seems to be based off the 5.11 design. Regardless, I can only give you my first impression opinion of this pack, and it's look good so far. It won't be another couple of months until I load this pack full of equipments, gears, and stuff for a training course. If it survives this future course, then it's a tough enough 72 hour pack for me. It definitely makes a good emergency/survival bag for sure. I guess I'll update after the course, but for now, I'll give it an 5 stars for my first impression ... show more

  • The OCD student's dream bag! The OCD student's dream bag!
Color: Grey
The OCD student's dream bag! Pockets for ultimate organization, molle for customization, and designed for easy access to all your stuff. I use a 5.11 all hazards nitro 12hr bag that have for ambulance shifts. It is compact and fits just what I need for my shift. However, as nursing school approaches, I need a bag that can hold textbooks, chromebook, gym stuff, lunch, etc... The atlas 72 is HUGE. So big in fact, that I had my doubts and ordered the atlas 24 for a side by side comparison. The 72 had a couple extra features that led to my final decision in keeping it. The atlas 72 has two huge, double zippered pockets-- one on each side of the bag. Every day I carry two 40oz thermoflasks. One for a protein shake and the other for water. The side pockets easily fit my 40oz thermoflasks and will zip shut easily. Amazing. The atlas 24 lacks this feature. Molle water bottle attachments would have needed to be added. The 24 also lacks a dump pouch which comes in handy once in a while for random things. The atlas 72 has well padded and comfortable hip straps that can be tucked away when not in use. The hip straps also have molle webbing should you ever need it. The atlas 24 hip straps are not padded, understandably so since it is a smaller pack. The atlas 72 has way more space than I might need on a daily basis, but all the internal pockets allow me to catagorize/organize my supplies and see them easily without blindly pawing through deep pockets. Absolutely love all the thoughtful features this bag has. It will also make an excellent travel bag and you will have plenty of room for anything you wish to bring. Major plus..it comes in grey. I didn't want something that screams "military" since that belongs to those who have earned that honor. The 72 has a lined pouch for your sunglasses but it is not hard-shelled/crush resistant. I remedied this by adding a sunglasses pouch, folding the lid back so that it sits open within the pocket. Basically creating a protective shell that you can easily toss your glasses into. I read many reviews and watched YouTube review videos and did have a hard time trying to tell the true size of this bag since the reviewers were male and I couldn't gauge how big this bag would be for myself. In case it helps out other ladies who are looking at the atlas 72, I included a picture of me wearing it. I am 5'6" for reference. This bag is heavy but even fully loaded without using the hip straps it was very comfortable. Going from the size of a 12hr bag to the 72 will take some getting used to, but with all the fantastic features...I would definitely miss this bag if I returned it. ... show more

  • For when you need to pack it all…..
Color: Ranger Green
I have been using this pack for about 2 months now and I have to say, I am extremely impressed by the quality and versatility of this backpack! But before you buy this, just know that it is absolutely massive. I am a man who is 6ft6in tall and i weigh around 285lbs and the bag feels gigantic on my back! However, the weight is very well distributed thanks to the design of the pack, so I have no issues carrying the bag at all. The storage area and man pockets and pouches that were designed into this bag, make this backpack an absolutely workhorse! I am currently using it as a 72 hour bag for my family of 6 and I have room to spare! The sticking is quality, the material is quality, and the zippers are very well made!!! ... show more
