Finally, something my cat uses more than the box it came in! I have a 10-year-old female tabby, and she uses this daily. I did buy this particular one two years ago for her birthday. Every year, I replace the cardboard pieces with fresh ones. Setup is a breeze, and the instructions are easy. Most could assemble this without the instructions; it's very straightforward. It does tend to make a mess with all the loose cardboard pieces my cat prys off. I did not put the little ball in the middle because I know my cat does not care for those. My cat is chubby and usually enjoys things food-related, but I was surprised she enjoyed this. The backboard is tall enough for her to stretch and claw at the same time. Both of my cats love this scratcher! There are several ways you can set it on the floor. Because one of my cats often likes to stretch when she scratches, I have it set in the "L" position. Much to my dismay this same cat likes to use one of my chairs with a similar tight but slightly rough fabric. When I bought the first scratcher, she immediately stopped scratching the chair and only used the scratcher! I bought the first one in November 2023, and it lasted a year. When they decimated it in the "L" position, I turned it over to a bridge position and it lasted several more months. About a month ago my cat went back to scratching the chair. Since the scratcher was pretty much decimated on both sides, I bought a new one. As soon as I set it up, she stopped scratching the chair and again only uses the scratcher. I love this product!!! The frame is solid, well-built and easy to assemble. The corrugated boards are thick and tight which is why it lasted so long. The only downside is that the corrugated boards cannot be purchased separately. The frame is so sturdy and well-built, it could last for years if just the boards could be replaced. ... show more

I bought this for my cat in a sad attempt to deter her from scratching on the couch, and as it turns out she does it out of spite for me, so it didn't matter that I covered up her favorite corner. That being said, she loves this scratching post, and she really enjoys the ball that it came with. The problem arose during assembly. First of all, why on Earth would you use a screw of any sort on such hollow cardboard? Huge pain in the butt. Then there was the slot for the toy. If you follow the photos on the very vague instructions, you will note that the supports that hold the whole thing together are shown as being flush to the edges of the scratching boards, however, if you do this, you will end up with the slot that the ball is supposed to rest in is far too large and the ball will not stay in it. The gap was pretty substantial, so there would have to be at least an inch of adjustment made, but again- screws in hollow cardboard, so I would have to look at ugly shredded cardboard holes every time I look at it, and there would be very little support from the holes made in the first attempt. Overall it is a great product and my cat loves it, but dont anticipate the ball staying where it is supposed to. ... show more

My cat seems to have a mind of her own and only scratched on my new leather couch, so I had reservations when I viewed this item, but figured "what the hell". To my surprise, she uses it every day and loves it! She leaves my furniture alone. My cat came to me de-clawed in the front only, so not sure if her need to scratch with her fronts was really a need or whether she tried to do it on my furniture to "get my attention", even if scolded! She uses this board with her fronts and because of its shape, is able to scratch with her "intact" rear paws as well. A great buy that really works! ... show more

My cat is obsessed with this, however it is so messy. We have two cats, same age, and one loves it, the other could care less. Our one cat will take naps on it and has fun scratching on it, but the cardboard makes a huge mess. It gets all over the floor and in our vents. If you have floor vents/heating system, I would strongly suggest you don't put this near them. It looks as pictured and has a nice appearance when it comes to having cat toys in your home.
