  • If sound is the most important thing...
Size: B PIN (KZ-ZST/ZS10/AS10/BA10/AS06/ES4/ZSR)
...then you'll probably be fine with this - depending on whether you get a defective item or not. To be honest, there aren't very many Bluetooth cables that support AptX HD (or even better, LDAC) right now. KZ is a brand I know as I own the original ZS10 and have been following this brand for a couple of years now. They are quite competent at making very cheap yet solid in-ear monitors. This is the second cable I've ordered; the first one was damaged in shipping and since I'd ordered the last one, my money was refunded instead of sending me a replacement. I almost took that as a sign that I should stay away from this cable, along with many comments and reviews on various sites that people were having a bad time with it. It seems the original version (which is apparently still being sold) had terrible tuning and connection issues along with hardware defects such as both ends being labeled as "L" and software issues such as saying "turn off" when being turned on, etc. But supposedly many of these issues were resolved in the current version. Ultimately, it's $30 so I decided to take a chance on ordering a second one. And I'm pretty sure mine is defective. However, none of the previous issues I mentioned are present here. The cables are labeled properly and the voice prompts match expectations for turning on and off. The tuning seems fine. To be honest, the sound and relatively low noise floor (there is some noise but it's not bad enough to bother me with the aforementioned ZS10) is why I'm keeping this cable. As long as it's playing audio, I'm pretty happy with it. It sounds good to me and compares very favorably with my true wireless earbuds that support only AptX. But as soon as the audio ends, this cable shuts off in less than 5 minutes on its own. That is very annoying. The saving grace besides the sound quality is the fact that this thing turns on fast and connects almost instantly. That is really the only reason I didn't return or exchange it. After all, there is no guarantee that the next cable will work fine and it could have any of the issues I already covered. I can live with this one flaw for $30 since it turns on so quickly. Other practical notes: 1. I'm not sure about the 8 hour battery life. So far I'm getting about 5 hours using AptX HD. 8 hours may be only for SBC. 2. The cable isn't terribly attractive. It would look better in solid black. It would also be nice if the cables weren't so long and dangly. I have learned to tame this with clips and earbud magnets called MBand2 by a Korean company called MADD. They're available here on Amazon and while fairly expensive for what they are, they work great. It makes this cable very tolerable to wear around in public. Highly recommended for this cable and others like it that don't have their own chin sliders or magnets. 3. As far as I can tell, the CSR8675 Qualcomm chip should support multipoint connection to 2 devices simultaneously but in my experience, this cable does NOT support multipoint. This could of course be yet another defect, but to be fair, none of the KZ documentation mentions supporting multipoint connections so maybe they just didn't implement that feature of the chip. I find this disappointing but not surprising. It's getting harder and harder to find multipoint devices even as headphone jacks are going away and people are seeking that feature even more than before. I ordered another cable from BQEYZ that claims to support multipoint and AptX HD at the same price point, so we'll see if that one lives up to its claims. There are a lot of cheap bluetooth cables available either on Amazon or sites like AliExpress and most of them are very cheap. In the end, I decided to gamble on a brand I knew and deemed ordering it from Amazon a little safer than buying an unknown brand from AliExpress, but since most of them are so cheap, it might be worth shopping around and experimenting. But if you do buy it from Amazon, at least you know you can return it with minimal hassle and fuss. As for me, I'm keeping this semi-ugly semi-defective cable. ... show more

  • AptX HD, battery-saving protocols too aggressive
Size: C PIN (KZ-ZSN/ZSNpro/AS16/ZS10pro)
I got this KZ AptX-HD Bluetooth cable for my KZ ZS10 IEM. It was a brilliant solution for not being tethered to your cellphone or media player by a cable! There's a time and place for the cable - Hi-Fi goals and demands - but there's just those times wired connections just get in my way and are rather a nuisance! Say no more "said KZ!" This is the second iteration, if you're in dark about this product solution, the main difference is; 1. Bluetooth 5.0 was implemented in this over the previous' 4.x Bluetooth rev. 2. AptX-HD implemention for hi-fi wireless fidelity, the previous generation is probably just SBC and or AAC. You can lookup the differences between these varying codecs later... Overly simplified, AptX-HD trumps AAC and SBC in fidelity (bandwidth) but with a slight diminishing return of increased latency and slightly unstable connectivity at greater distances between the transmitting device (ex. Cellphone) and the receiving device (ex. KZ Bluetooth IEM Cable). Now back to the product in review, it's supposed to get you 8 hrs in playback, but I've not been able to hit anything close due to the very impeding power-saving feature. Between 10-15 mins of inactivity (idleness) - i.e. no music or notifications playing through it powers down! This has bothered me intensely, a pause a song or an activity which has auditory feedback is done and nothing of sonic importance occurs within that threshold then off the device goes! Now some more positives; I used this only with the KZ ZS10, so that's my reference point. It powers my IEMs and they are pretty loud even between 50-70%, maybe there's also the internal DAC of your device that might play a significant role in the loudness it should put out through your IEM. They have a snug fit to the ZS10 connection point. This has the 'Type C' connector, 2 tiny pins recessed in a rectangular groove. Another peeve of mine is with the button contol and placement. It's rather unnerving, I'm constantly second guessing if the power button is going to be pressed or it's the next (Vol +, Vol -). I love the upgrade albeit, there's some room to make this the best it can be! ... show more

  • Decent adapter, as long as you're okay with a slight hissing sound
Size: C PIN (KZ-ZSN/ZSNpro/AS16/ZS10pro)
It's a bluetooth adapter for my KZ earbuds I was somewhat forced to get (thanks phone makers for ditching the headphone jack) but for the price it's not too bad. The cable's nothing to brag about, tho I do wish it was a bit longer as wrapping it behind my neck will often make it either droop left or right since its not long enough. So I end up just dangling most of the cable on my chest instead. Battery life is good for me, I dont use it for more than 4 hours and luckily I still keep the micro USB cable I have close by. USB-C would have been very nice as I would then be able to share the same phone charging cable as my headset. Sound quality is good enough, but my biggest complaint about it is the constant hissing sound you'll hear when playing or listening to something at a lower volume. Most of the time you can tune it out, but once you pause whatever media you're playing, you'll almost be sure to hear it. It does stop at about 15-20 seconds when nothing is being transmitted. And of course there is a bit of an audio delay but that's to be expected when using bluetooth unfortunately. I cannot comment on how well the noise cancelling is during a call as I don't really answer calls in a loud environment to begin with. ... show more
