  • Old School Technology is Still Here.
I purchased this as a dedicated car phone to replace my old Motorola phone with built-in amplifier. This old-style flip phone lends itself quite well for that role, as it has a headphone jack that sends a signal to an amplifier that powers a speaker in the car. The touch pad keys are always on display; the phone is mounted open on an adjustable stalk where the old phone was located. Some auxiliary electronic equipment was necessary to step down the 12-volt car voltage to 5 volts to power the phone and a filter to remove engine whine. A lot of work to recreate some of what was lost when Verizon went to 5G, making my old phone obsolete. Yes, carrying a smart phone while in the car works and there are hands-free kits for that, I'm sure. Just call me old-fashioned. ... show more

  • this phone is extremely rugged, if you work or play in extreme environments this phone is for you.
Ok, never thought I would be writting a review for a flip phone it here goes. I've had a smart performance years and always thought nothing else would do, but I noticed i was spending a lot of time with my face in my phone. So I decided to check my screen time only to be shocked. For the past 7 days I found out that I had spent 37.8 hours looking into my phone screen. I new I had to do something to stop this, so I thought about a flip phone. I started looking on line at different phones and I ran across this one on Amazon. I will have to say this is the best flip phone I have ever used. Everything the advertisement says about the phone is true. If you are looking to dumb down on your phone this is the one I recommend. If you like to text a lot this phone may not be for you, it is a flip phone and it texts like a flip phone. But other than texting, this phone is excellent. 4G where most flip phones 2or 3G, 16 gigs of storage 5 megapixel camera with 720hd video, a hot spot, web browser, Bluetooth a d wifi. What else could you ask for on a flip phone. I'm use straight talk and had an active sims card so all I had to do put my sims card into the phone and power it on and it was ready to use. With all that said I will have to give this phone 5 stars. ... show more

  • Not a Perfect Phone, But Rugged
First, if you are buying this phone you are buying it for it rugged durability, not for the apps and features, per-se... It is of a rugged construction, one good feature is that the back screws on. A problem with other flip phones that I have had prior, when you drop it enough times, or if you take off the back a few times to access the battery or other components, the back will start to pop off regularly when dropped! This phone avoids that by screwing on the back. The screw is big enough that you can use a thumb nail to tighten it. One thing I hate with some other flip phones is that the default texting/messaging mode is "Predictive" and I hate that! On this phone the default is Abc, the first letter is capitalized at the start and after periods. Predictive is an option that you can use, but it is NOT default! You will have to tap through letters while type messages. If you are used to other smart phones, this could be an annoyance, but if you are used to old school or flip phones, this should be or will become second nature. It's just the nature of flip phones with old style number pads. I was used to space bar being 0 on my old phone so that is a minor inconvenience learning to use # instead but that is just changing muscle memory. Annoyances... When hitting the down button it occasionally kicks you back a screen! You have to over come this by pushing and holding it down rather than tapping the button. But this can be really annoying while trying to do searches and stuff. The second thing I hate about this phone is that it does NOT have Google maps, or any map app function! I had a $25 flip phone from Walmart that had Google maps on it! I seriously considered dropping this rating to three stars instead of four over it! The bottom line, if you are buying this phone, you are getting it as a basic, rugged phone without bells or whistles. It had plenty of the basic stuff, like alarms, calendar, etc... Just don't expect to use it for doing much web searching or using it as a GPS device, but it does make for a good storage device and music player (be warned though it will jumble the order of the mp3's you play on it though!) ... show more

  • Cellphone
My husband is in construction. He is not tech savvy. He lives the phone. Very durable. Have been it twice in 4 years. It's worth the money. Works for his purpose, texting & talking. He really doesn't do phones 😒. But I can get him to carry this one. Very durable, low maintenance. Will buy again.

  • Hard to charge and a disaster of a GUI
Does it make a call easily? Yes but only if it is charged (more on that later) A review stated the operating system is linux based but it did NOT set up like a linux distro. It just stated that something went wrong and to call a number. I mean where are the prompt screens asking to establish passwords and account information that a normal linux install asks for? I had to take it to a Verizon store to activate it because of this. Charging the phone is wonky, sometimes it charges, sometimes it DOES NOT. My old dumbphone would just charge when plugged in as does my Kindle. Turning it on is weird as one has to hold the on button down for a number of seconds. I mean that’s how one turns off a desktop PC if it is hung up and yet this turns on this phone which is basically a micro PC. The GUI is a disaster and it will take months if not years to figure out. What is wrong with a Win 9x GUI (Trinity rocks)? The buttons do not do the same thing every time, so trying to figure out the commands is proving to be almost impossible. My Kindle is recognized as an external drive as soon I plug it in my desktop PC and when I poked around this phone it looked like it would do the same as a Kindle but NOTHING. So all the features it brags about like the phone being a music player do not work easily if at all. If this phone had a Win 9x GUI it might actually be a good phone but with the difficulty of charging it and the horrible GUI it has it is barely usable. ... show more
