Introduction: a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch allows you to use the same keyboard, monitor and mouse for more than one computer, connecting them to one computer at a time. This KVM switch is for two computers sharing those devices First Impression: this item arrived with a full complement of necessities: two extra HDMI cables and two USB 2.0 (USB-A plug) cables to connect the switch each of two computers. The switch itself is a plastic box with a push-button on top to select with connection is active. The box is light enough that it may need to be secured using means other than its weight to prevent it from moving. Connectivity: You are expected to provide input to the switch using a mouse with USB-A connector (wired or a small USB-A radio dongle), a keyboard (same connectivity requirement as the mouse). You are also expected to have your own HDMI cable for the connection to the monitor. If you use Bluetooth for mouse or keyboard, or if your monitor cannot use some cable that connects to the switch output with an HDMI plug, the functionality of this switch will be limited. The USB output to each computer is a straightforward, single USB-A cable (two provided) combining K and M inputs. The input from each computer must be compatible with an HDMI socket (two HDMI-to-HDMI cables provided). Operation: Once properly connected, the operation is as simple as pressing the top button to select a connection. There are no means to control this switch using an extension to the push-button or a remote control, so it must be placed within reach. I appreciate the simplicity of cabling: all cables are commodity cables, there is no proprietary complication if a cable needed replacement (say, because of incidental damage). Combining keyboard an mouse devices into a single cable is a nice, if common, convenience. The feel of the box is ordinary--more heft would have been welcome. Bought this for a ridiculous purpose - The input switch buttons on my monitor broke off. This is the perfect solution. It's a slimline device I mounted under my desk, and comes with all the necessary cables for attachment. Plugged in my wireless mouse/keyboard receiver and it worked immediately. Switching takes a second or two, no big deal. Overall, it's a great option for a 2 device KVM solution using USB and HDMI. I'd definitely recommend it. ... show more

Worked well and had no issues! Came with the two USB-A to USB-A cables and 2 HDMI cables. Setup was as simply as plugging everything, no drivers or anything else needed. The only downside is that on one side of the KVM is the input's (mouse, keyboard and monitor) and the other side is the outputs to each computer. This means you have cables running out on each side, so you don't really have a "front" as such. ... show more

    • Slim HDMI USB KVM
I got this to replace a different brand of HDMI KVM that was having intermittent issues. So far, this has been very reliable. Setup took about 2 minutes excluding cable management. All the necessary cables were included and were easy to snugly connect. I have no concerns that they will come out over time. Once connected, the KVM lights up either Blue or Green signifying which input is selected. The switch button has a nice tactile feel making it obvious when it is pressed. As an added bonus, I was able to plug in more than just keyboard and mice. I tested with a removable drive and it worked perfectly through the KVM. This came with everything that I needed to connect it to my existing monitor. 2 HDMI cables, 2 USB A to USB A cables, and the KVM switch. I appreciate that it did not require a power adapter. Blue and Green input connections (HDMI and USB) are on one side of the unit. The colors relate to the LED color on the switch button. It will light up blue or green depending on which connection it is using. The monitor output is on the opposite side along with the USB input for whatever you'd like to be shared between the two systems (like keyboard, mouse, storage, etc). What I liked about it: Easy to setup and use. Works flawlessly. What I didn't like: That I waited so long to get one of these! Overall, I recommend this KVM switch. This basic KVM switch works as expected. It takes in a set of mouse, keyboard, and HDMI monitor and shares it across two computers, one at a time. There aren't any hotkeys to initiate the switch or a remote, so you need to manually press the button. The button's LED light is either green or blue, indicating if the peripherals are connected to output 1 or 2. Overall, this seems like a good, basic KVM switch. No issues yet. ... show more

This is such an economical way to consolidate my workspace so I can use a large monitor and easily flip-flop between my work and personal computers. It works as advertised and set-up is a breeze. The HDMI and USB cables are very high quality, much thicker than others that I have and the length is just right. The USB provides the power. The unit is pretty light, so depending on the set-up, it might not sit horizontal on the desktop on its own, but that's not a big deal for me.
