  • Great compact KVM, with a couple small gripes.
Size: 4 Port 4K@60Hz Style: Button/ Hotkey Switch
I recently purchased this KVM for my homelab/network closet console. It is hooked up to a surveillance NVR and a couple servers. This has so far proved to be perfect for my use case and has a lot of advantages, but I do have a couple minor issues that would be awesome to see addressed in a future revision. PROS 1. Very solid build quality for the price; the case and I/O ports all feel sturdy. 2. Compact size for a 4-port KVM. 3. USB powered, so no need for a power brick, cutting down on cabling and allowing more mounting/placement options. 4. Compatible with wireless keyboard and mouse, and built in USB hub for thumb drives/etc. 5. No issues using DVI to HDMI adapters on input or output sides. CONS 1. Button for switching between inputs doesn't feel quite as substantial as the rest of the device. 2. Device always defaults back to Input 1 if you cycle the power switch off and back on. 3. Included USB cables are short and seem a bit thin/cheap. You may want or need to use your own depending on your cable runs. 4. No HDMI cables included, so plan to supply your own. None of these issues are dealbreakers; if anything this is a more expensive device being sold for cheap because they cut corners on the cables in the box. The couple functional notes are the only things keeping this from getting a 5 star review from me. Otherwise I have no regrets with choosing this KVM for my project! ... show more

  • Good little KVM, for what it is and it's prive
Size: 4 Port 4K@60Hz Style: Button/ Hotkey Switch
I have used several $300-$400 four port KVMs at home in the past. This KVM is definitely not equal to those $400 KVMs. But it does work and given its quirks is good enough for the need that I bought it for. Pros - works with my laptop at 4k with audio over HDMI - PS4 works fine with audio over HDMI, and the PS4 picks up the wireless keyboard that I have plugged into the USB keyboard port on the KVM - USB cable plugged into the front KVM USB hub attached to a PS4 controller will work to add the controller to a PS4. This is more of a PS4 thing than the KVM or hub. But is worth noting here for those that want to use this KVM with a PS4. Cons - Needs more power than a single device can provide. If you don't have all devices on all of the time, this could be a problem. With just my laptop connected, if I wiggled my mouse rapidly, the would lag and judder badly on the screen. As soon as I plugged in a second power source into the KVM (in the form of a phone charger plugged into an unused device USB input) the mouse wouldn't lag or judder. - The USB connectors are not physically correct. I had to force my mouse USB dongle with a great deal of force to get it into the KVM. After I did this a couple of times it now goes in and out like it should. - It does not maintain the HDMI connection with the device when switched to another device. This should be expected for a $50 KVM - The KVM doesn't lay flat on a table. I had to twist it hard a couple of times to get it to lay flat without rocking. After adding a USB phone charger to an unused USB input port, this seems to be a solid KVM for the price. Especially considering more expensive KVMs don't seem to handle 4k very well. ... show more

  • Works great but with a few caveats
Size: 4 Port 4K@60Hz Style: Button/ Hotkey Switch
Ideally this review would be 4.7 stars because the switch does almost everything I need. I use the HP Envy 34" and it switches the display between my two desktops and my laptop without issue. I was concerned that resolution might be impacted but that isn't the case. However I did have issues using the hotkey switching (because of my mechanical keyboard) as well as getting some peripherals to be recognized using the extra USB ports on the switch. The ports did work with my wireless headset dongle as well as a thumb drive, but a larger hard drive needs more power and even with two PC's turned on, I don't think there is enough juice to run it. Also, the ports didn't recognize either of my webcams. I emailed support and they responded within 24 hours letting me know that it won't work with 1080p webcams, but a720p should work and they are working on that for a future version of the switch. Pros: -Works great to switch the display, mouse and keyboard across my computers, even through my Dell dock for my laptop which I thought might pose an issue but did not -Extra USB ports in front for peripherals -Clean look, I have 3 computers so it's nice to not have the extra cables for the 4th port just dangling, you plug it in as needed. It was also more compact that I expected. I left a pen on the switch in the picture for reference. -Ability to switch inputs using the button on the device or via hotkey (Note that it's pressing Ctrl, Ctrl, then number of the input; you don't hold the buttons down and support cleared that up for me) -Support responded to me very quickly Cons -I wish the USB ports worked with my larger HD as well as my webcams. It will also charge my cell phone but doesn't appear to be able to read the data. Honestly a lot of KVM switches don't even include USB ports so this is minor -Hotkey switching doesn't work with mechanical keyboards; I did test with a regular Dell keyboard and it worked but I prefer mechanical so that's on me In conclusion, it does everything I want besides a couple minor annoyances. Pretty happy with it. I'm only on day 2 though so I can't speak for the longevity. I'll update if it stops working. ... show more
