Absolutely love the Kuhn Rikon Original Swiss Peeler. They are sharp, lightweight and peel many vegetables with little effort. These were actually recommended in a book I was reading by J. Kenji Lopez-Alt of "The Food Lab, Better Home Cooking Through Science" which is a James Beard Foundation Award Book. After trying these, I must say that it is really nice to have such a handy vegetable peeler. I just wish that more people knew about these! I have used this to peel carrots, cucumbers and other vegetables for a few months now and it works well! Its only flaw, for me, is that it is small and I could wish for it to be just a little bit larger to make it easier to hold. But it removes the peels from vegetables far more efficiently than the "handle" peeler (from a company you've probably heard of) did. ... show more

I think this item is more targeted to pro kitchens, but it can work in home kitchens too. It takes a bigger bite than the worn out home oriented Oxo that I used for years and helps me process veg at home quicker.

I bought this item 3rd time in a few years. One of those 3 times was for a gift. Recently one of the three peelers broke and another one got lost. So I was down to only one. I came back to buy another set. They look practicaly identical, but I found that the new ones are not as good as the older ones were. If the vegetable I peel is not hard (for example asparagus) these new ones will slip and won't peel well. On the harder veggies like carrots and potatoes they work fine, but I still feel a bit of a difference. Overall they do the job and they are still better than many other peelers on the market. And I would still recommend them over other peelers (and I tried A LOT!!!) Their blades are made out of the metal that rusts. They always were like that. That is why they are so sharp and work so well. Because of that specific metal. Because of that do NOT put them in the dishwasher and do not throw them into the sink with your dirty dishes! Because they WILL rust. They are ridiculously easy to clean. Just rinse them after use, dry with papertowel or kitchen towel and put them away. And they will last forever and will not rust. Mine never rusted, but I knew they will if I leave them out in the sink for long enough. ... show more

I've used so many peelers over the years, but love the ease and sharpness of these. I had bought one many years ago and of course over time it had rusted. I finally decided to search for them again and was happy to find them so I bought the three pack and will be giving some as gifts.
