I am old school when it comes to peeling potatoes carrots, cucumbers etc. I always did it by hand because 'regular' peelers didn't work smoothly at all. This little thing just slides across any veggie without clogging or chunking. It is small so it stores well a quick rinse and it's clean and no more struggling to peel tonight's dinner veggies. Bought this on the recommendation of America’s Test Kitchen. What a mistake. Hugely disappointing. Plastic body material is light to the point of feeling dangerous. No heft to it, hard to handle, cheaper than a dime store toy. Short handle and direction of blade feels like an accident waiting to happen. Went back to my OXO. Blade immediately dried rusty. Has gotten worse and worse with every wash. Cleaned it with barkeepers friend to remove rust. Even worse. A heavy-use kitchen utensil like this should be durable, easy to clean and long lasting. This peeler works great. It is small and easy for kids to handle. The only drawback is that you must wash it by hand and dry it carefully --- I did not realize that until mine started rusting in the corners. I had to scrub the rust out. Now I dry it carefully, and no more rust. Recommended if you have kids helping out in the kitchen. ... show more

I bought this because it was recommended by Cook’s Illustrated. It made easy work of peeling the tough butternut squash. It is light and small but effective.

    • Game changer!
Using this was one of my favorite "new tool" moments the kitchen. I actually had FUN peeling potatoes! To the point that i was almost sad when I was done. I HATE peeling potatoes usually. This tool was a game changer. I love it!

    • Flimsy, but functional
This is smaller than I thought it would be and is flimsy. The handle is so slight it bends as you use it. On the other hand, it is cheap, very sharp, and works well.

Really didn’t expect this to be so good, the best peeler ever! Just don’t put it in the dishwasher, the blade is starting to rust.
