OMG this is really great!

I am old school when it comes to peeling potatoes carrots, cucumbers etc. I always did it by hand because 'regular' peelers didn't work smoothly at all. This little thing just slides across any veggie without clogging or chunking. It is small so it stores well a quick rinse and it's clean and no more struggling to peel tonight's dinner veggies. Love it! It does need to just be rinsed and dried, dishwasher will make it rust.

Rusts almost immediately

**Update** I'm changing my four-star rating to one. As I'm see others point out, this thing rusts ridiculously easily, even if you hand wash it and dry it. I used it the one time, hand washed it, wiped it off and put it in my drawer. I got it out yesterday and found significant amounts of rust on it. Another person commented that one should never put carbon steel blades in the dishwasher - but this came in a plain plastic bag so there were no instructions to warn a person of that fact. Even so, I hand washed mine and it still rusted. I am very unhappy about it. It was $6.19 when I bought it; not a ton of money, but six bucks is six bucks, and it should be usable past one time. I'll treat it with rust remover, but I see from other reviewers that it will rust irrespective of how you treat it. Very disappointing. I have two other peelers that I really like, but got this one with the carbon blade to peel winter squash. It worked like a warm knife cutting butter. It's a wee little peeler and when I first saw how small and light weight it was, I thought it was a joke. But it really takes care of tough peel jobs like butternut squash, etc.

Very nice tool for home cooks

These Kuhn Rikon peelers were rated as best vegetable peeler ever on one of my favorite cooking shows. They had option for a 2-pack - I ordered and am so pleased with them!! Very fair price. They do have to be washed and dried after using. Don't soak or leave sitting around but it just takes a sec to rinse and dry to keep the blade nice and sharp. They do a great job, easy to use and comfortable for arthritic hands. Do be careful as the blade is very sharp but design makes it easy to clean and dry.

How to really peel carrots and potatoes!

Such a simple item, right? Less than $10, right? But, unless for special peeling events, throw away (or put in the back of the cabinet) your "potato peeler", because this elementary top notch kitchen veggie peeler is really amazing! Paid for this. Didn't get it free. I liked it so much, I sent my daughter one as a "love gift". She didn't know how to use it! So much younger than I am but she needed me to show her which side to use and how to peel a potato! Can you imagine? Now? She loves this simple peeler as much as I do. Here I am, posting a review about a simple peeler but, again, not getting anything free from this review but, this is a great little peeler! You can use it for almost anything.
