I used to have the mini Amika flat iron, but I recently dropped it on the floor, and one of the iron plates shattered on the spot. I was so excited to see this brand carrying a mini flat iron, and I was not disappointed. It glides over the hair very smoothly, and I find that this size of flat iron is great for more control and precision when staying bangs or shorter hair. You can use it on your whole head, but I imagine it would take a while if your hair is thicker, fuller, or very long. I got this for travel and it did exactly what I needed it to. It held heat well, is small but not too small, and was able to help me smooth out my frizzy hair while I was in the Caribbean. I have an even smaller iron that is great if you're really trying to pack light, but this is more realistic for every day use without taking up too much space. I do have fine hair, so I can't speak to how this would do on really thick hair - but my assumption is you'd just need to work on smaller sections at a time so it may take a bit longer. ... show more

I bought this flat iron for a trip to Spain. I wanted my usual beauty routine, but needed to seriously scale back on my usual method of packing where I bring too much stuff. I read a lot of reviews for several products and decided on this flat iron. I am happy with my purchase. It is a dual voltage device and it has worked well in both the United States and In Spain. It has its own heat resistant carrying case which allows you to safely pack it up before it has completely cooled. It’s smaller size makes it easier to pack but on my short hair, it does the job perfectly. Some reviewers have said it’s not hot enough. I feel that if it were hotter, I would burn my hair off. The only question left for me is how long will it last. I have had my old, full-sized iron for 15 years and it is still going strong. ... show more

While I love the way my hair looks after using this, the device gets way to hot in the handle. Aside from having trouble finding a place to hold it while using it, but the end of my 2 week vacation, there is a brown discoloration from overheating.

This is my 2nd. Kristin Ess hot tool purchase. I probably wouldn’t have bought this, if I wasn’t already a fan. I love to travel, but always end up taking too much stuff. My goal was to use this travel flat iron on an upcoming vacation. I have been trying it out for a few days, and I think that I am going to put away all of my other bulky hot tools.
