We buy a real tree that is between 5’-6’ every year. We drag this just murdered tree into our home and spend over 30 minuets fighting because of the stand. 3 years in a row. It drives me crazy. It is because of these stupid tree stands. I’m holding the tree, straight. IM HOLDING THE TREE STRAIGHT! YES, ITS STRAIGHT! Tightening these 1/4-20 bolts into the tree trunk, driving it into its soft round body, throwing the base off. The bolts, some years, are not long enough. I bought another base thinking it would hold these size trees NOPE So this year, the day I bought the tree I shopped amazon looking for one that would make all this stop. We got home, we fought, the tree was up, 2 days later I get a photo, no text, of the tree fallen over, water everyplace. Needles every where. I am broken inside. In the same hour, the stand arrived in the mail. It took SECONDS. If you’re mechanally inclined. You understand how this works, it works 100% and the outrigger feet. So nice. Feels so sturdy. If you’re buying blinker fluid from the auto store, you’re probably going to break it, it ratchets and double locks it in place. No need to drive the tree into its spike like a crazy person, just apply just enough force to break the surface, give it a firm final ratchet click and you’re done. I hope it never breaks. I love this thing. I’m so happy. If something happens, I’ll update here, but for meow I’m blasting All I want for Christmas is you! UPDATE 2018 so we bought our tree yesterday and I’m so happy about how easy it was! After the end of last year some water was difficult to remove out of the base, I left it in our boiler room and it stayed there until all the remaining water evaporated. Also I picked up a roomba this summer and the base with the robot are made for each other. It’s perfect when all the needles are off the floor so close to the base. I uploaded new pics and I hope Krinner reaches out to me, I would love to be friends with them. ... show more

Read other reviews for the primary details. This easily holds my Home Depot 10 foot tall ~125lb tree where previous stands wouldn't come close to holding (e.g. this one is terrible past ~5 foot trees: St Nicks Choice Pivot Point Tree Stand ) . Two critical notes that I don't see clearly elsewhere are the core reason for this review: 1) Bring your own bolt or locking stick. As people have commented the handle (which doubles as the tension release device) has a little plastic slider that let's you "lock" the system so you don't accidentally release your tree. The slider does not stay in place and should not be trusted. It is clearly designed so that you can put a bolt or shaft through the hole to secure it. I used a 1/4-20 x 2-inch bolt with a washer on each side and a single nut. No tools required (it's just finger-tight). See my picture for details. 2) Don't trust the liquid-indicator float. Unfortunately the design is very susceptible to torque jams (meaning "it's floppy and gets stuck indicating too much water"). I've found that literally *every single time* I have checked the system by hand, the float is stuck at the highwater mark and evaporation has taken the level much lower. In related news, pushing the float with your finger is an easy and clean way to "feel" the water level. I've still found the little device useful, just not in the way originally intended. ... show more

This product is unbelievable. We have used the screw in base for decades for our tree. Every year getting the tree fitted properly into the base was a scream fest between me and my wife. Who held the tree crooked, who did not hold the tree long enough, who did not tighten the screws, etc. Our children would run to their rooms to shield themselves. Finally last year our screw stand broke and so this year I wanted to end the tree stand nightmare. I brought the Krinner stand after reading reviews in Amazon. So, we began the journey as usually, i set up the new Krinner stand, brought the tree in from the car, place end of tree in stand, and with three steps on the stand lever we were done. I mean within 15 seconds done. I was in shock and amazed on how well this product works. Best find of 2017. ... show more
