Description

Kreg's freshly redesigned Precision Bench top Router Table (new item PRS2100) now offers even more features that give it the capability of a full-size, industrial router table in a portable package. More than ever before, this makes the Precision Bench top Router Table a perfect routing solution, whether they want a router table to use on a job site or compact router table to use in the shop. You will notice the all-new router insert plate right away. It measures 9-1/4" x 11-3/4" x 3/8" to support even the biggest routers and it features Kreg's new Level-Loc Reducing Rings. These rings simply twist into place and lock in flush with the plate surface every time. Three Level-Loc rings are included: 1", 1-3/16" (for use with Porter-Cable style guide bushings) and 2-5/8". More Level-Loc ring sizes are available in a set of 5 (sold separately). The plate also has laser-engraved markings on the underside that make it easy to mount any router and it comes with a set of Kreg's Precision Insert Levelers. The redesigned Precision Bench top Router Table also features Kreg's upgraded industrial-quality fence. It features all-new cam clamps that allow you to adjust the fence quickly and easily and lock it in place securely. Like before, the fence is made from anodized aluminum, has adjustable sliding faces and works as a vertical jointer. To make routing even easier, the Precision Bench top Router Table has a large 16" x 24" table that's made from thick MDF to dampen vibration. The table offers the same durable Easy-Slide skin as Kreg's full-size router tables and has a miter gauge slot. That table is supported by a heavy-duty steel stand that has a wide stance for extra support, plus thick rubber feet to dampen vibration. The open design helps reduce router noise and the base has predrilled holes that allow it to be enclosed if desired.

  • Perfect!
Style: Router Table
A little pricey compared to comparable products, but this is top notch! Extremely stable and adjustable to ensure perfect performance!

  • Quality product, overall good buy
Style: Router Table
So up front, I don't give five stars unless a product really hits a homerun. This router table is quite good, no doubt about that, but its not perfect. With that said: At $249, its kind of on the pricey side for a portable router table. Some of the competing tables in this category are less expensive and often come with an on/off switch and featherboards, which this does not. By the time I bought a switch and featherboards, I was pushing $300. If you already have these accessories on hand, that won't matter. However, I chose this model because I felt it had some features that were worthwhile. 1- the plate leveling system is excellent. 2- The router plate itself is excellent. 3- and the jointing rods that fit behind the fence are a GREAT feature for me since edge jointing small boards was among my primary purposes for a router table. I included a picture of my table. As you can see, I added a shelf on the bottom of the table stand where I can store wrenches and other supplies. If I don't keep this stuff WITH the router table, they'll inevitably get lost. Other tables in this price range (and less) have enclosed stands, and you don't need to do this. I also added an apron to mount the Ryobi brand switch. Again, other tables come with a switch. I chose the Ryobi because it was half the price of the Kreg switch and most other switches. I didn't realize until after I received the table that Kreg sells a package that comes with a switch for like an extra 20 bucks. I recommend you go that route since the Kreg switch will mount to the Kreg table easier. Buying the switch separately is like an extra $40. The FENCE- I've read some other reviews that bash the design, and claim it doesn't work well for them. Mine works fine. Really, it works great. I have zero issues with it. I do doubt the longevity of the plastic parts that the cam locking mechanism is made from. But so far, so good. At least its not 'cheap' plastic. It might go the distance. We'll see. And Kreg probably offers replacement parts if it ever becomes an issue. I've ran a few pieces over this router since putting it together, and I am pleased. Jointing and edge shaping works as it should. Definitely less vibration and noise than my old craftsman router table. All steel construction is very sturdy, and the paint job seems durable. The steel construction might explain the additional price. Of course, part of the reduce vibration and noise is the router itself (Bosch 1617 2.25hp). I've never really used the miter slot on a router table before aside from featherboards, and probably won't with this one either. It looks fine to me, but I won't comment either way. Anyway, I was looking for a good quality, benchtop table that wouldn't cost an absolute fortune. The Kreg cost a little more than it should, considering the lack of accessories. But I think it'll serve me well for years, and it has some features that I really wanted. So its a winner. No buyer's remorse. ... show more

  • VERY tedious to put together, and some design issues, but works great
Style: Router Table
The assembly is VERY tedious. I'm old and stiff so I'm sure it took me longer than it will for most folks, but still, SIX HOURS seems excessive. Very poor design on the miter track screws which should have been self-starting like the ones for attaching the levelers to the underside of the table. The table top is MDF and does not seem to be of the best quality. The screws all cause lots of MDF material to be pulled out. One of the non-self-starting miter track screws was so hard to get started that only the last 1/3 or so threaded itself and it then pushed through the layer of black paint on the underside of the table and popped out some MDF around the screw. The leveler inserts are part of the tedium of construction and adjustment but well worth the effort since they really work well and give accurate leveling and lockdown once your satisfied that you've got it all right. The EXTRAORDINARILY (and unnecessarily) complicated device that allows for the fence to both be locked down and to be removed from the table is the worst design aspect of the whole thing. It's hard to see how they could have made it more complicated and you have to get it JUST right on the lockdown won't work. The steel legs are solid and attach fairly easily to the underside of the table but you'll need a hex socket wrench to attach the support braces between the legs. They don't provide that bit. They DO provide a Robertson drive hex bit for the self-starting screws and it is not shown on the parts list, so confused me until I saw what it fit. They do provide needed Allen wrenches. And last but not least, unless you are well over 6 feet tall, or have a workbench designed for midgets, the top of the router table is going to be unpleasantly high once you put it on your workbench. I've decided that I just can't work for long with it the way it is so I'm going to build a cabinet for it, which defeats the whole purpose of having bought a bench-top unit that could be stored under the workbench to save floor footprint. Very disappointing, but if I had looked more carefully at the measurements, I would have realized in advance that this would be a problem, so my bad. ... show more

  • WELL ENGINEERED & CONSTRUCTED.
Style: Router Table
I've been considering this tool for quite some time. Won't be often used so should last forever. The assembly is very simple and straightforward, albeit time consuming. If needed, the instructions are well done and helpful. I have a several years old, but new, Jessem router lift that fit with some minor modifications to the lift, rather than the table. I feel that the lift plate could benefit from more under table leveling plates vs. just on the 4 corners. With the lift this thing seems like the best choice for the job site. I'll start with a PC 890 and see how it does with the occasional larger bits, if it struggles I'll use the heavy beast. If they made one with the standard top size I would have bought it but as with most things, there are trade offs. ... show more
