I have Porta Pro for years already and used it always on a laptop. Just got a new one with 3pin (Sound only) a week ago and it would not work on my Samsung j6 Cell. Returned it and got the one with microphone 4pin but would not work on j6 either. They work perfectly fine on the laptop, so does earbuds on j6 and laptop. Send e-mail to Koss, never got an answer, went to chat, Support 3 disappeared. Then I called. She tried but nobody has an answer why they would not work on the j6. Tried on-line but never found anything really either. So now I started myself. Checking the length of the 3.5mm, holding the earbud jack (that works on j6) and the Porta Pro and found the 4pin Porta is just a bit shorter then the earbud 3.5mm (1.8"). I had also ordered angled connectors, plugging the porta into the angle and the angle into the j6, first nothing then pressing it in really hard and the porta started working but slightest touch and music stopped. Now I knew it's Dremel time. Took the angle and cut the rubber on the angle a bit back then with the Dremel just cut down the thicker metal-end a little so I can put the angle deeper into the j6 and now it works perfectly and is also not falling out. Now I also have straight 4pin 3.5mm jacks and they shut-off the music when I stick it into the j6, meaning clipping off the jack on the porta and solder the new straight one on and it should work too since it is longer then the porta one. Except I assume I void the warranty. I am thinking of a workaround and get me a straight extension grinding the metal on that one if needed and it should work too. Maybe this helps to somebody else who has headphone problems on a cell. Deducted 1 Star for Koss for the too short connector, after all every earbud (4 different one I have) work perfectly on the j6 so I fail Koss for a too short of a connector. BTW Laptop still works perfectly too with the grind-ed one. Added 2 pictures with the grind-ed dual extension cables, both work great and hold really good in the j6 and work perfectly laptop too.

I have two sets of Koss' Porta-Pros and both have been an absolute game-changer. I HATE earbuds or any ear-plugging device. They make my ear channels itch, burn in pain, and my anxiety goes up a notch. I don't think I am allergic to the silicone/plastic, but something is not right. These are amazing in that some ambient noise is still audible, so if you're in a dangerous area, you can still detect hazards that are nearby. (Traffic, forklifts, etc) The sound is still very clear, even the bass. So far the only thing I've needed to repair was the ear-piece foam. My body oils tend to break cheap foam surrounds quickly. These are very cheap to replace, but annoying. The plastic speaker frame has really sharp hold-points that tend to tear the old foam, and make it hard to mount the new foam perfectly. I would also recommend that you buy a thicker foam surround and just replace them from the get-go. Amazon recommended a perfect set on my second purchase.

I was really enthused to have a version of the Koss Porta Pros with a mic that I could use for calls AND listening to music in good quality. The latter is true about this product just as it is with the original Porta Pros; however, my mic stopped working after a few days. Unfortunately, it would seem that the mic component is not manufactured with the same pristine quality of the rest of the device, and I had to ultimately return it. I may try it again some time in the future, but for now, I would not recommend it. *UPDATE- March 2022* After purchasing another pair for Black Friday last year, and using it for a few months, I can reasonably state that the first pair I purchased were probably duds. The new pair works very well and I can confidently recommend these. I have not had the same mic problems as the original pair and the headphones are exceptionally good as Koss’ Porta Pro line has always demonstrated. I have since added back stars to give it a perfect rating.

I like that these Koss Porta Pro have a lot of responsive bass that really lets a kick drum come through. I don't like that the high end is not in the mix. I got a good deal on them and I wasn't expecting them to sound like expensive headphone but I was surprise how much they favor the low end. Guess i thought these would sound more like my old Koss KSC75

I bought these to replace Sennheiser PX 100, which were not the best sounding headphones, not bad mind you, but they were super comfortable, neither in ear nor cans clamped around the ear, light weight, foldable. I used then a lot, though not for serious music listening. Surprisingly few headphones fit that niche. The Sennheisers aren't made anymore and this is the only similar alternative I could find, very well reviewed, about the same price. Sound: the midrange is better than the Sennheisers, but the real down side of these headphones is the bass. Not that it's weak, but it's just not integrated into the overall sound. It's like you have a nice set of book shelf speakers and a cheap big flabby subwoofer that just doesn't fit sonically. Design: Fairly comfortable over the ears, if slightly more clampy than the Sennheisers, but not too bad. THe biggest complaint is, whereas the Sennheisers had pads on the underside of the band for comfort, the Koss are bare metal with two hard plastic tabs that slide to adjust the width, so there are hard edges pressing on top of your head. Did the designers at Koss try these on? Maybe they just had thicker hair than I do. They do fold up rather cleverly.
