  • Incredible! Retro with a Splash of New-Age Convience
Color: Rhythm Beige
I have been quite happy with these! Ive been going through a bit of a retro vibe lately (and audiophile with some older equipment too) and these are the perfect mix of old-school quality, look, durablility, and fit as they are much like the older gen versions with better bluetooth. Theyre still SUPER portable and easy to toss into a bag (or wear around your neck). I really appreciate how they ran the USB-C to connect for both the AUX (USBC to AUX Cable included) as well as charging, very connective with both. I definitely would recommend these, great for the money & vibes. ... show more

  • retro-cyberpunk!))
Color: Arctic White
These headphones are amazing! At first, there was a small point of confusion: when using them with an iPhone (for example, with Voice Memos or apps like ChatGPT), the microphone requires a double tap on the top button to activate before each use. It’s not very intuitive at first and can be slightly frustrating, but once you understand it, it becomes manageable. Aside from that, the sound quality is excellent. The bass feels powerful — even a bit overwhelming at first — but after getting used to it, going back to old basic-normal over-ear headphones just doesn’t feel right anymore. The overall sound has a very immersive, almost studio-like character. A special highlight is the comfort and ergonomics. They are incredibly well-designed, fold nicely, and feel almost weightless when worn. After a while, you completely forget that you’re even wearing them. The design is also a big plus. They have a distinct, almost cyberpunk aesthetic. And the Arctic White color looks absolutely stunning! Thank you for creating such a great product! ... show more

  • Wireless Porta Pros with Quirks
Color: Black
I’ll preface this by saying that I love these headphones. I got a wired pair a few months ago, but decided to get the newest Bluetooth Porta Pros released in 2024. They’re great. The sound is good for the price imo and type of headphone. You have the option for wired. Plus you also get an actual case for storage and a USB-C audio jack included. Now it does come with some imperfections that I’d say are typical of the Porta Pro. One of these is comfort. I can definitely go decent hours wearing these, but as everyone says, the default pads that come with the Pro isn’t the best so get some Yaxi pads. They definitely improve comfort and allegedly sound. Now another aspect that is also typical of the Porta Pro is build quality. These headphones have always felt “cheap” in and easy to break if you tried. For $100 the build quality isn’t much improved from the standard wired Pros. However, for something that is double the price of the wired versions, these also have a case which is $15 separately and along a charging cable & audio jack. So let’s say $20ish worth of other stuff. So if anything the rest of that value is I imagine in the tech itself. So next is the headband itself. The wireless has a metal band with a split down the middle whereas the wired is a plastic band. The metal band is I believe how the sound is transmitted between speakers. It does I’d give the Pro a bump in quality feel, but I’d the sand head band is not as flexible. You can’t just put these above you’re and adjust by pulling down on the headphones. You’ll want to adjust the two black sliders before putting on your head. When I first got these I thought I was going to break the headset by adjusting the band like I did the wired Porta Pro. Learned my lesson. Just something to keep in mind and pro tip if you will. The only other con I have for these is that when wired, it seems you can’t utilize any of the buttons to skip songs, pause, change volume, etc… They only seem to work when in wireless mode. It does kind of suck you can’t control anything when wired from the headset itself, but if primarily using Bluetooth it is not a big deal. Anyway, I’m satisfied with latest iteration of the wireless Porta Pro. It is a great headset that does its job plus my favorite thing about them is that style of headphone has such nice transparency. I can hear my surroundings better with these on than air pod pros with transparency turned on for example. It has the typical quirks you’ll find with the wired version of the Porta Pros and quirks unique to this version as covered above. Yet I still thing the pros greatly outweigh the cons. I got these to take better advantage of lossless audio with Apple Music on my iPhone and have better awareness with my surroundings. They do that for me and then some. Definitely recommend and also get some yaxi pads! ... show more

  • IMO- should come with a KUSB-50 inline mic cord, but very great speaker quality for the price
Color: Rhythm Beige
EDIT: Okay, so I’ve had these for a bit now and the sound quality is so great! I’m moving it down to a 3 star though. The mic has never worked on a phone call or Zoom call or really ever anything, not once. It has also been able to connect to every device via Bluetooth except any Windows devices. I contacted customer support and they assured me that it should connect to Windows devices, yet I’ve tried multiple PC’s and nothing. It even connects to my Linux but not my Windows lol. Asides from those two problems the sound quality is great, I forget they’re on because they’re so comfy, and I really am happy with my purchase I just wouldn’t recommend it to anybody who needs to use a mic for calls or Bluetooth on Windows. I bought the wired Porta Pro’s and same day returned them to buy the wireless ones because I ended up loving them so much. The only thing that really restricts my usage of this device is that it seems when you plug into something via the USB-C to Aux pass through analog cord you can no longer use the mic until you switch back to Bluetooth. I’m also having a technical issue where my Windows 11 PC cannot discover the Porta Pro’s at all. My iPhone picks it up so fast it’s very nice, but unusable on my PC while wireless it seems. Not dinging a point off for that yet because I want to test it on multiple computers to see if it’s a problem with my Bluetooth driver (even though I updated, disabled, uninstalled, reinstalled, enabled the driver) or if it’s a problem with the Porta Pro’s Bluetooth compatibility with Windows 11. Not good for gaming on Xbox. The reason I bought this was to use the analog pass through into the Xbox controller and then use it wirelessly on my phone at other times. Unfortunately, because you can’t use the mic while plugged in, your only option is to buy a Bluetooth converter for your Xbox controller if you wish to use the mic as well. That wouldn’t be a major problem as they’re not very pricy, but it is actually a HUGE problem for Xbox. Xbox puts all Bluetooth connections through the controller into a “phone call mode”. The problem with that is that it makes the audio go from stereo to mono. No more hearing the direction of sounds in the game if you do it that way. So, you really can’t use the mic on this for gaming at all. Be aware of that, but these are extremely great for speaker quality at this price. Since it’s the pads that rest on the sides of your ears, and since the headband is not noticeable, AND because it is such a lightweight problem, I have already forgotten that I’m wearing them twice in the few hours I’ve had these. They are extremely comfortable. EDIT--- There is a solution to the mic not working for gaming. I asked ChatGPT if there was a USB-C to Aux analog pass-through cord with an inline mic that is compatible with the Porta Pro Wireless. Sure enough, Koss makes one specifically for that purpose. Koss KUSB-50 Analog Audio Pass Through Cord for KPH30 Wireless and Porta Pro Wireless That's what you need to get if you want to use a mic while plugged in ^^ I also purchased YAXI Earpads for this product, as well. Super great comfort upgrade. A lot of people also claim it makes the sound much better actually due to a larger pad to disperse the sound across, though it is hard to notice a difference unless you have one Porta Pro with the normal pads and one Porta Pro with the YAXI's to compare side by side I suppose. ... show more

  • You can find better wireless headphones
Color: Black
I've used Koss headphones for almost 25 years and love the brand, but the Porta Pro Wireless are just in another league of awful design. The sound quality is BAD. I have the original Porta Pro's and the sound quality is alright, and reasonable considering the original $25 price. The wireless version can't compete in terms of sound quality. Very muddy and no top end clarity. The headphones Bluetooth electronics seem like what you'd get in dollar store headphones. The connection drops all the time and the process of syncing requires absurdly long button holds to get into pairing mode. Battery life is meh, and the wireless Porta Pro's suffer from the same wonky tension adjustment on the originals, except they've somehow made it every worse. These would be OK if they were priced at $30. Paying $100 for these headphones is simply a joke. ... show more

  • Imperfect yet magical
Color: Black
I love the comfort of Koss headphones. The gentle feel of the foam pads on my ears is a comforting nostalgia trip since I have owned Koss headphones since childhood. They feel like a snug blanket. Plus they're reasonably priced! However, I like to pace around when listening - and after several pairs of Koss headphones got totally wrecked when I snagged the chord on chairs, car doors, etc... I decided that maybe there's something to be said for wireless. Quality The amazing thing about these is that they look almost like a normal pair of Porta Pro headphones. This feels pretty amazing to me, and more than a little magical. Functionality - The buttons which play/pause, and raise and lower volume, don't feel like they work consistently. There have been a few times I've booted it up where things are just out of whack, and I have to restart it. This has never been a major problem, more of a quirk. I can live with it. Connectivity - No frills here. No app, no EQ, no firmware updates in sight. It just connects to bluetooth, delivers the signature Koss Sound very reliably, nothing more - fine by me. If I stay on the same floor it never loses connectivity. Mic Quality - Pretty decent! I can take calls on it, it works. Ergonomics - Unlike regular Porta Pros, the adjustable strap on the headphone does not retract in a spring loaded way when removed from your head - instead they keep their shape, like a normal pair of headphones. Fine by me - the original design was charming but a little more eccentric in comparison. - I have sometimes snagged my hair in the double banded design - it doesn't happen often, but it does happen. - The tight / loose settings work great, just like on the original version. Sound Quality - Very similar to the originals. Which is to say, extremely agreeable. Portability - For a pair of headphones like this, excellent. They are not called the Porta Pro for nothing after all. You have to bend them to get them in the included case, but they do fit. Battery Life - Adequate. I don't feel like I'm running out all the time Desired Features - I'd love it if the next version had USB-C audio capability. If I could charge my headphones, and listen at the same time over the cable to get high resolution audio, that would be great. I do like the included adapter which lets you plug it in as a regular pair of headphones. - I'd love it if the next version had sensors to detect whether you were wearing them, in case I forget to turn them off - I think I can see just where a sensor could go. Headphones without sensors leave the possibility of scrambling to turn off bluetooth on your phone while a caller is trying to figure out what the hell you're doing. ... show more

  • Perfect Portable PortaPro with a Couple Contentious Caveats
Color: Black
Quite simply; a perfect execution of what a wireless portapro should be, however, you should be well aware of some important limitations. -The body: In terms of a portable set of on-ear headphones you could stash in a bag, the portapro is solid. The plastic construction isnt subject to any major stress and the steel band can withstand as much abuse as the default portapro. I have no complaints other than maybe the edges being a bit sharp. -The headband: Innovative way of removing the dangling wire in the last version, but the band this time around is pretty stiff and that messes with the ability of the headphones to hook together when you put it in the case (it really likes snapping open). The case being included is necessary to carry these around because of its tendency to open. A common meme with portapros is that the headband catches hair, but that's only if you adjust with the headphones already on your head. If you know what size to extend to (via a sharpie), you'll never experience this, I haven't with these. -The sound: It sounds exactly like a wired PortaPro, a 40 year old design which is very colored compared to modern true wireless earbuds or bluetooth bud straps that this would be competing with. You should prefer a very forward midbass and accept some compression in the treble (rock music would sound nice, but classical music doesnt sound "natural" on these). If you're looking for good running headphones these will play fine. There is absolutely no sound isolation, you will hear everything around you and everyone will hear your music. -Wireless features: It's disappointing to not see a lossless codec, but AAC sounds great on my android for typical content on streamers, if you want to listen to HQ audio on these you should use the wire that's included and a headphone jack. You're not getting noise cancelation or transparency mode on headphones like these, either. The lack of these features allows it to have a massive battery life for it's size however, far more than what true wireless buds can do in one session, I spent a whole afternoon in a hammock with these without issues. Taking calls while walking is fine, great generally, but if there's (fairly strong) wind on the right side of you, it will cut out. Controls and volume are fine, you cant mash the vol+/- to suddenly change volume however. -The price: @$100 at the time of this review it's about $20 too much in my opinion, the hardcase is nice, but it's pretty much required if you want to stick it into a backpack. I would say wait for a coupon or sale because at $80 these would be a lot more palatable. -My verdict: 4.5 stars if you know what a portapro is and enjoy the formfactor and sound; if you don't like the sound signature there's yaxi pad swapping and the midbass can be EQ'd down (not really the treble though) For everyone else, you should consider buying a pair of 20$ Koss wired headphones and seeing if you really enjoy them, or consider the portapros when they're on sale. You will not miss the lossless codec for most music, and the battery life is amazing because of it. Koss sells sportapros, which match the formfactor for running at a FAR lower cost, with the same fidelity that you can achieve with these. ... show more

  • Koss Porta Pro Minus the Wires (for reals this time)
Color: Black
If you look back at my reviews you will find two that focus on a pair of Porta Pros in Rhythm Beige, and another that reviews the original Wireless Porta Pros. To say that I'm a fan of the Porta Pros is a complete understatement. It is literally the only model of headphones that I purchase nowadays. Way back in the day when I was a young lad in college, I was obsessed with finding a good pair of headphones. I searched high and low! I spent hundreds of dollars on "premium" headphones! I even had a large collection of ear buds! Then one day on a complete whim I purchased a pair of Koss Porta Pros for like 20 bucks and I've been a customer of Koss exclusively since then. There's something about the aesthetic of these cans that speaks to my soul. The sound is PRECISELY what I want in a pair of headphones. Clear, clean, neutral, and true to life sound. I can safely say that I've been waiting for this exact pair of wireless headphones since at least 2018 when I purchased the first iteration of the wireless Porta Pros. That pair was fantastic sounding, and the aesthetic was almost there. But the dangling wires and plastic bobs did not make them ideal. I still have that pair laying around somewhere, but they're officially retired. Now here we are near the end of 2024 and I now have my endgame in terms of wireless headphones. Let's start with the most important part: The sound is virtually the same as the wired pair of Porta Pros. I'm sure there is a difference, however that difference will not be noticeable for the average user. If you're a fan of the Porta Pro sound, this will satisfy that itch, just without wires. Pairing is easy, the battery life is insane, and the range is incredible. Just about the only complaint I have is that the headband seems to be a little hard to adjust. But that is an actual nitpick and not an actual complaint. For 100 bucks you get the headphones, a charging cable, and a usb-c to 3.5mm jack to connect to devices when your battery runs out or for devices that don't support Bluetooth. In my estimation, this price is more than fair. I purchased these on September 16th, and received them on September 18th and I immediately started using them. The charge was at 90% out of the box and after nearly 4-5 hours of use, they've only gone down 10%. For my personal tastes, the Koss Porta Pro is the perfect headphone and this new iteration of the Wireless Porta Pros are the perfect wireless headphone. To keep the tradition in my reviews: You will not find a better value proposition for the quality of sound that you are receiving here. Now there's just no wires attached. ... show more
