Description

English dub, Japanese language, English subtitles, all 10 episodes and the first OVA in 1080p high definition, region A disc. A world of action and adventure! Just, not for him. Kazuma Sato decides that today is the day to get out of the house for a bit. Since he dies, pointlessly, it's clearly a bad choice. The goddess who greets him in the afterlife, however, offers him a chance to be reborn in a world not unlike that of a video game, and as a bonus she'll even throw in a cool item or power! Can't possibly be a bad choice, right? Except he arrives with no money at all, dead average skills, and his "bonus" isn't useful at all--since he picked the goddess, Aqua, herself. How are the two of them supposed to defeat the evil Devil King and live happily ever after? Well, for them, it probably starts with day laboring rather than adventuring. And it's only going to get more disappointing from there! This brand new limited edition SteelBook includes all 10 episodes and the 1st OVA! In the original Japanese language with English subtitles, and the English dub!

  • Arrived in great condition
The case was not broke and the disks did not fall out like a few of my more recent and more expensive purchases.

  • Fun Twist On The Isekai Genre
Overall, an enjoyable series. Stay-in gamer finally elects to leave home to get the new 'hot' game and, on his way home, dies while (ineffectually) doing the heroic thing. He winds up at a holding place between heaven and reincarnation, and opts to try live on a questing world. Offered a choice of skill or weapon to help him, he picked the water goddess Aqua, who's ticked him off. Aqua is not happy. On the other world, the pair set out to become adventurers. This does not go well. He has no weapons, money or skills. Aqua? High levels around except for intelligence. That's...a little low. And then the party grows to include a young Red Demon sorceress who can only use her Explosion magic once a day and a masochistic knight who takes much of what she hears wrong. Perils included very large frogs and flying cabbages. It's a hard life. Overall, a fun watch. HOWEVER I have to cut a star from the review due to (see below)... NOTE: Viewers with kids may want to skip the last couple of chapters. Some partial female nudity, and the male lead has some uncomfortable fantasies when he has to remove a potntially lethal choker from his neck. ... show more

  • Very funny comedy fantasy isekai
This show seems to start off as your typical generic isekai, but eventually goes very silly and hilarious to watch, thus making it one of my favorite animes to watch. I have watched it first on crunchyroll (I recommend watching the first 3 episodes if you haven't seen it yet, should give you a good idea of what to expect), both subs and dubs are fantastic. For the show alone, I give it 5/5. I felt I had to get this on blu-ray just so I can have it physically, glad I managed to snag one before it went out of stock again. It does feel kinda cheap for 50 bucks, but it's not terrible. It comes with the case, it's slip cover and the blu-ray disc, that's it. However there is ONE thing that bothers me. The subtitles 'Song and Signs' (shown in image) are merged into one and I can't turn one off without the other. And for those that remember during episode 10, the season's main theme plays during the last boss fight, which is fine watching it on CR. But now on this blu-ray version it shows the subtitles of the song's lyrics on the top screen DURING the fight, which I'm pretty sure nobody is gonna care about. I'm not sure why they even bothered sticking the subtitle lyrics during there. I don't mind them during the intro and outro themes, but please you don't need to put them during the boss fights, IMO they just get in the way. And if I turn them off I will also miss out on the text signs that I can't read. It is a minor issue, but it still bothers me that the version on CR's website is much better at this and is more worth watching instead of this blu-ray version. For 50 dollars I expected on par or better. ... show more

  • The idiots are finally here
And honestly, the wait has been long. Available in English Sub and Dub on Crunchyroll, it fed my addiction for this series until the official Blu-Ray released. That said, as great as this series is, the Blu-Ray is kind of a let down. I'm so used to paying premium for most of my anime, this one coming in standard and without much fanfare kinda killed it for me. The box set conveys the groups antics well enough, but there's just something about the art on the back cover and disc that seems off to me. Like hastily created art made exclusively for this release but wasn't done right. It might just be me being picky but I just wasn't satisfied with it. Though that dissatisfaction carries out to the entire release as a whole. It's somewhat devoid of features, coming in with only textless OP and ED, but it does come with the first OVA featuring comrade Yunyun so it's kinda good. Media aside, the release was, at least to me, released without much fanfare. This series has been a big hit worldwide, and it was only through luck that I found out that it was even getting an English release. Not only that, it was being released without a premium. Don't get me wrong, that's excellent for people that just want to get into the show and/ or just own the first season, but the lack of more goodies or a premium version makes me feel that the season deserved more. ... show more
