  • Holding its own with boxer puppy in the throws teething / chewing Holding its own with boxer puppy in the throws teething / chewing
Color: Elephant Size: Medium/Large
Original review given on July 24, 2017 Can I give it 10 stars? No? :( I have a 5.5 month old boxer puppy, Blossom, who is in the throws of that I'm-teething-so-I-chew-everything-until-it-dies stage. We would take Blossom to the store to pick out her own toys and she always seemed attached to the super soft "plush" toys. Hahaha! (*please hold as the reviewer is crying with laughter*) Yeah, those last about 2 min in our house, maybe 2 days, *IF* they are chew gaurd (read also "oober expensive"). She has no interest in the fire hose material toys, and while the traditional Kongs are great (and holding up), she only has interest in them when there is food inside. We needed to find a soft plushy toy that would withstand Blossom's need to tug (she would hold it down with her paws and yank up with her jaws) at her toys. Despite not having the squishy stuffed toy feel, this is soft and plush feeling in material (over the hard rope "skeleton"). We bought a bunny to see how it would last. 5 weeks later it barely showed any signs of any wear and tear. There were a couple .... runs (think a minor run in a pair of stockings) in the belly of the bunny, but absolutely no true rips. And when I say this poor bunny had been tugged and shaken and chewed and dragged all over the house, I mean ... well, I feel sorry for that poor bunny! We could even truly play tug of war with it because the rope skeleton gives stability. When we were gearing up for puppy's first road trip to my in-law's, I wanted to take bunny along, she is a bit of home. Rather than risking accidentally leaving *THE* toy 3.5 hours (and across 2 state lines) away, we went to pickup another. The old bunny has now moved to the country home with my in-laws, we now have a fresh bunny and a fox here at home. Came on to order the elephant and the hippo, because I can't find them locally! UPDATED July 31, 2017 TO ADD: The fox has been in our house about a week. He no longer has ears, we've dubbed him "Deaf Fox." However, the rest of him is in perfect condition, well, he's dirty, but in otherwise perfect condition. Bunny #2 (#1 moved in with my in-laws permanently) is dirty but otherwise still looks brand new. Image attached, can't get a picture without her gnawing on him I was seriously delayed in actually placing the order for the hippo / elephant (didn't order until yesterday), and they arrived today. They are absolutely ADORABLE! I'm going to hold off on actually giving them to her, just because well, I'd rather hold on to them until my 6 year old finds her next tooth (yes, I've been suckered into a doggie tooth fairy, it's ridiculous! haha!) Update #2 - August 6, 2017 Bunny #2 and Deaf Fox still adorably holding their own with no signs of wear and tear besides slobbered dirtiness. (Is that a thing? Because I'm gonna make it a thing.) Elle the Elephant, "arrived" the other night via tooth fairy (Do. Not. Start. That. With. Your. Kids. The cuteness wears off quick!), and between yesterday and today her one ear is looking a bit ragged. I suspect she will also be deaf in a week. It seems that Blossom gets fixated on removing the floppy bits with out rope. This would be why normal plushy toys don't last. I've attached an image of all 3 floppy knots. All in all still extremely happy with these amazing toys! Update #3 - August 18, 2017 Hey guys. Please beware. These toys will cause bruises when your pups shake the ever loving snot outta them anywhere near you! Those knots hurt! Why does Blossom seem to like to shake the bunny right next to me as a "Play with me mama" communication? OUCH! Beyond that, I've yet to find anything wrong with these amazing toys of love. Also, because I know you are just dying to know, Ellie the Elephant still has an ear and a half! 1st image (Blossom with bunny) -- July 31 2nd image (bunny, elephant, fox) -- August 6 3rd image (elephant) -- August 18 ... show more

  • Strong, light and durable
Color: Hippo Size: X-Small
Great toy. We use it for fetch as well as tug of war with our small dog. The toy is well put together. The rope interior is sturdy for human/dog play. The toy is light enough for our 5lb pup to easily carry around. The squeak is an added feature that garners her interest and response.

  • Shredded apart very easy.
Color: Hippo Size: Medium/Large
Updating my 1star review to a 5 star. Company made it right with me. Great customer service. They reached out to me and made it 100% right. This toy only lasted 2 weeks with my 12 week old mini aussie. The fabric shredded apart and he was getting choked on it. Thank God i caught him just in time to retrieve it from his throat. I thought Kong toys were made better than that! Total waste of money. Do not buy! Very disappointed in this product. ... show more

  • Not safe for dogs CHOKE HAZARD!!!😩 Not safe for dogs CHOKE HAZARD!!!😩
Color: Bunny Size: Medium/Large
I am very fond of KONG products but this one was not good at all! I have two Chihuahua Pit bull Terrier mix female 8 month old puppies and have bought them all kind of chew toys and have yet to find one that they can't destroy and enjoy long term. I figured let me try KONG! I have never been wrong with KONG. I bought the HIPPO one first and waited 2 weeks bedore buying the BUNNY. They have two squeekers inside them one in the head and one in the body. Needless to say I wake up one morning to find the pink bunny with a hole in the body and all the stuffing in their beds. I found one of them chewing on the squeaker which she almost swallowed and I thank God I caught her on Time. She would have choked on it and that would have been deadly or an expensive trip to the vet. They do have minimum stuffing in the body but a lot of stuffing inside the toys head and they were really after the squeekers. I had to cut open the toy remove the squeekers and the rest of the STUFFING IT HAS ROPE SO THAT'S WHAT I LEFT. THEY LOST INTEREST IN THE TOY AND I WOUND UP THROWING THEM AWAY. BIG WASTE OF $34 FOR BOTH. If you have a very aggressive chewer this is not a good toy and I was confident that it was safe cause it is a KONG! BUT NO PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR FUR BABIES. Below you can see the first two pics of what they looked like before I threw them out and the squeekers I removed from the a total of 4. The video of one of my babies playing with the toy before she destroyed it. ... show more

  • Tougher toy
Color: Fox Size: Medium/Large
Pet seems to like it well but it’s still easy for her to tear it apart. The tugging is good, but I would leave the stuffing out because she loves to pull it out and spread it all over the house. The squeaker lasted a little while, but she found it and tore it out of the body had to chase her down to get it away from her. so I give it a fourth star cause we can still play tug-of-war with it. ... show more

  • Perfect Teething Toy for Our Mini Schnauzer Puppy Perfect Teething Toy for Our Mini Schnauzer Puppy
Color: Elephant Size: Small/Medium
Our 8-week-old Mini Schnauzer absolutely loves this toy. He’s teething, and this has quickly become one of his favorites. He carries it around, chews on it, cuddles with it, and even falls asleep next to it. The material seems soft enough for a young puppy but durable enough to handle plenty of chewing. It’s also a great size for a small breed puppy. Very happy with this purchase! ... show more

  • Not What I Was Hoping For Not What I Was Hoping For
Color: Hippo Size: Medium/Large
My dog loved it. However, it lasted all of 20 minutes hours before he had an ear off. 30 minutes before I heard the first sounds of torn seams. Maybe 2 hours before the first signs of stuffing came from the head. One day before I was picking up strings and balls of fluff everywhere. The picture I share is the end of that first day. I'm trying everything I can to get some kind of longevity out of it and failing. As much as he loved it, I just can't recommend a toy this expensive. I'll give some leeway because my dog is a sadist that sets out to destroy every toy he finds. I haven't found a squeak toy yet that he hasn't eviscerated in a day or so. So, I won't drop this lower than 3 stars. Still, Kong has a certain reputation and this toy just didn't live up to it for me. If your dog isn't terribly destructive, this is great, I guess. However, if you're buying Kong, you probably have a destructive dog and this just doesn't hold up to serious play. ... show more
