Overall the winch is great and good quality. It just hast a manufacturing defect with the bends in the crank handle. Seems it was not formed correctly and hits the secondary shaft when winding.

Got the 3500 pound winch to attach to a plate on a hitch so it can be moved from truck to tractor depending on location and project. The winch overall is robust and performs well. Moving the handle to change gear ratio is an easy and quick process with a wrench. Nice option to have in a single unit. The handle is comfortable to use under load and action is smooth. The handle just clears the bolt for the second gear option but have had no issues with interference. Three position lever on the side is easy to operate and appreciate the "locked" setting has the lever in a position in line with the winch so it cannot be easily snagged by a shirtsleeve. If you have never used a winch, play with it before serious use as there are no instructions. We are using it as a portable unit, it does the job, and certainly makes many tasks easier!

Once I gave the gears a good spritz of lubricant it worked great. Not sure what the purpose is of having the ratchet engage on the out, but it does. Reverser works well, and the ability to have two different gear ratios is nice, but the handle bolts on so switching between ratios is cumbersome at best. If the handle was a quick-connect, it'd be an easy five stars, especially at the price point.

I have the 3500 LBS winch. While the quality of the materials and workmanship seem to be adequate for the job for which the winch was intended, I am a bit skeptical on how long the winch will last especially with heavy use. But I could be wrong. Only time will tell. In my opinion, there is one significant design flaw. I appreciate that the winch has two gear ratios. However, in order to switch from one gear ratio to another, it is necessary to use a wrench to unscrew a nut in order to move the winch handle to another attachment point on the winch.To me, this just seems like the manufacturer cut a corner here to save a few dollars instead of designing the winch handle to be easily moved from one gear ratio to the other. Lastly, There are no instructions provided in the box or on the winch itself. Unless you are familiar with how winches such as this operate, it will take some time to figure it out. I feel the manufacturer could have provided a brief set of instructions on how to operate the winch and what the gear ratio is at each handle attachment point. The bottom line is this winch is a fair value for the money. But if you are wanting a very high quality winch, you may want to consider paying more.

This. This KOLVOII winch will be bolted to a yet-to-be fabricated base plate incorporating a trailer hitch receiver to fit over the 2" trailer balls on the front and rear drawbars of our Kubota RTV's. As a trial, we secured the winch base in a bench vise and cranked cable in and out. Free-wheeling is easy, using the thumb pad on the left side. The same pad can be positioned to prevent unwanted rotation, in either direction (a very useful safety feature), using notches on the lowest gear which engage a rocking lock-bar. Crank effort is easy and intuitive, mounted on either gear stud. We tested by dragging a large generator over a concrete floor...but that load was still a long way from the rated capacity. Construction is generally robust and parts well finished. There were no directions accompanying the unit - 'tho operation is generally obvious. ~ The Duffian

The cable wasn’t mounted in the spool correctly so you’ll have to unwind it, re attach, and re spool. I’m not a big fan of the cable in general, so I am replacing it with a 2” winch strap. Other than that it fuctions perfectly, the gears mesh well. There’s a cheap-ish spring on the side that can be easily upgraded if needed. I’m welding mine to a hitch extender so I can pop it on the truck when I need to. Long story short, it has a great foundation with easily upgradable “personal preference” parts and it’s strong heavy gauge construction should give you very few problems for a long time to come!

I have this set up on my tow trailer to pull up small cars, I've used it twice both times on smaller hondas and it worked great, the only complaint I have is that its a pain to switch the handle over to the other gear shaft you have to get a wrench and unscrew the nut and screw it back on the other one.
