Why did you pick this product vs others?: Works great! My original boat winch had a wide spool for the strap and tended to drift and bind up. This winch has a more narrow strap spool and it eliminated that issue..Crank has better grip also.

The media could not be loaded. Seems well made but definitely will rust if used for boats. Easy 3 bolt install. But Nuts are not secured by a pressure washer or anything. I recommend locktite or adding security washers to avoid getting loose with vibration. Locks both directions for forward or backward applications…. Even could be reversible if needed

Winch itself is very sturdy and great performance but the handle is very weak and thin. During the first use I rounded off the slot that attaches the handle to the winch and bent the handle. Pictures included.

This is a nice heavy winch that works perfect for our pontoon boat. The old one was fraying and getting loose and sloppy. This winch is very sturdy and has no play in the action. I simply unbolted the old one and bolted this one to the same plate. I set mine up with the 8:1 ratio since we only use it for the final couple of feet on a heavy pontoon boat. This winch works WAY better than the one it replaced. It pulls smoother and easier than the one it replaced. This is a great winch for the price!

This winch is a total game-changer! Right out of the box, it felt solid and well-made—you can tell it’s built to handle some serious weight. I’ve used it a few times now with my jet ski and small boat, and it’s performed flawlessly every time. The 33-foot strap gives you plenty of length to work with, and the two-way ratchet system with the 4:1/8:1 gear ratio makes cranking super smooth and efficient. I'm beginning a trailer repair project, as my boat which usually stays in the water needs to be taken on a road trip to get re-powered. The winch on my trailer was rusted and not operable, so I ordered this winch to replace my frozen one. This winch fits on my existing winch stand, however the hardware provided was a VERY tight fit. I wish locking hardware would have been included (lock washer or lock nut). The winch has two different gear ratios that can be used, and I installed the handle on the lowest gear (making it easier to winch my heavy skiff up toward the trailer tongue). This winch is not really marine grade (most of the surfaces are just painted mild steel), so after a few years I expect this winch will look very different after exposure to saltwater in my area. The winch does work as advertised and is really simple to operate. The pricing is competitive with other options, but you may want to consider a galvanized/zinc coated winch if you are on the immediate coast.
