  • Great Value Juicer!
I have used this juicer almost daily now for the past three months, and can attest to the fact that it is a good product and a great value. I find it to be very good for carrots, daikon radishes, nappa cabbage, beets, whole melons (yes you can juice the rind and seeds of watermelons for example) and other fruits and vegetables. Some tips (not in order of importance): 1- Learn about the many healing benefits of juicing from books ( the late "Juiceman" Jay Kordich, Dr. Norman Walker, and Max Gersen all have informative titles available on Amazon) as well as from youtube videos about these people and other natural foods enthusiasts. I personally have been dealing with hip osteoarthritis pain, FAI and anterior glide syndrome for years and believe I am on my way to a cure partly as a result of my daily juicing regimen (combined with exercise, stretching, prayer and meditation and natural supplements (serrapeptase, boswellia, turmeric, and ginger). These folks and others will tell you that you can also successfully and naturally treat such chronic issues as high blood pressure, diabetes, skin disorders and perhaps even cancer (see Gersen's work on this) with juicing. 2. Realize that some fruits (think berries, bananas, kiwi) and some leafy greens are best used in blenders or a Nutribullet instead of being juiced. I find success with mixing fresh made juice with fruits and vegetables in my Nutribullet works very well. 3. If you are new to juicing, realize that it will take a lot of produce (about 6-12 carrots, depending on their size, for example) to get a glass full of juice. Don't be discouraged by what appears to be little output! Drinking fresh juice regularly and often will result in improved digestion, sleep, skin, hair and health over time. Get a blood test and you will be amazed at the favorable impacts with blood sugar levels and cholesterol after regularly consuming fresh juices. 4. Cleaning this juicer is easiest done as soon after you use the juicer as possible (but go ahead and drink the juice first as some juices, like fresh cabbage, for example, loses beneficial value minutes after making it. There is a youtube video on how to clean this juicer that is very helpful the first time you do it. I wish you all great health and great success with this juicer! ... show more

  • For those who are looking for a relatively low priced version of a masticating juicer, stop here.
I love this juicer and have already gotten more than my money’s worth out of it. Nearly 10 years ago I watched the juicing documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead which inspired me to start juicing. Not because I was sick, fat, or nearly dead, but because having a nutritious juice to start the day seemed like a no-brainer. Being a sophomore in college, I went and bought the cheapest juicer I could find with decent reviews, a Hamilton Beach centrifugal juicer. I have never been so put off from a healthy idea so fast in my life. The juicer was loud Like a jet engine, damn near impossible to clean, and made sub-par juice. I sold it a few weeks later and never gave it a second thought. Fast forward to a couple months ago. I decide to take the plunge and spend a little more on a masticating juicer with good reviews. After extensive research and a budget I ordered the KOIOS masticating juicer. I could kick my younger self. This juicer makes fantastic juice, is no louder than the kitchen sink running , and couldn’t be easier to clean. It’s super sturdy and made with quality in mind. I make enough juice for about three days and divvy it out into six bottles (3 for me, 3 for my wife). The juice tastes as fresh on day 3 as it does right out of the juicer. I could win the lottery tomorrow and would probably still stick with this machine instead of going and getting a top of the line brand, because it’s just that good. If I HAD to find a flaw, it would be that it takes a solid 20-30 minutes to make the mentioned 6 bottles and clean up, but that is due to the nature of the masticating juicer and not the brand/machine itself. All good things come to those who wait, and it’s most certainly worth the wait. ... show more

  • Juicer & Support
The juicer I received did not function properly when I plugged it in (lit up, but nothing happened when I pressed the buttons). I contacted Koios through the customer support phone number. After one bad attempt (the connection was poor and got disconnected), I called back and got a clear connection and very helpful support person on the line. They asked that I send a short video of what was happening so they could confirm the issue. Within a day of sending the video, they responded with apologies about the product, said that a new one was being sent to my address free of charge, and that I needn't return the defective item. Great customer service! Their one request was that I relay the customer service experience in the reviews (so here I am). I received the new juicer within the five days they said it would take, and this one worked. I've been using it about a month now. These are my observations: 1. Not very noisy, which I appreciate. 2. Works as advertised. 3. It's a little larger than I expected, but overall, pretty decent size and nice unobtrusive white and black design. 4. Very easy to assemble and dismantle (I don't have time for futzy, time-consuming things!) 5. Fast and easy to wash (the included brush is super helpful). 6. I like the quality and taste of the juice this produces. 7. Pulp comes out dry (the filtering mechanism clearly works well). 8. The yield is less than my previous (centrifugal) juicer and it doesn't break things like carrots down as much as I would like. Tiny carrot pebbles are left over which I feel bad throwing away and the greens aren't much broken down (so I've been freezing the pulp and using it later to make broth or add to soups). This was the case even though I cut and sliced everything up small and in different ways as they recommend. It's not great at processing lemon rind either - but I think they said not to put that in anyhow (I had to try, hate to waste anything and there's goodness in the rind too...) 7. The more stuff you juice, the more sediment gets stuck in the filter, so you definitely have to dismantle and clear the filter if you want to juice any quantity of juice especially if you are doing several different types of veggies like I do (my fave is celery, cucumber, ginger, lemon, carrot, and cilantro). I get about 8-10 oz and then would have to clear the filter if I wanted to do more. 8. The fit of the pulp shoot to the rest of the mechanism was not great on the second juicer I received. I couldn't twist it off the last time I used it...but that's not an issue since I had the same components from the defective juicer and saved them all just in case I'd need them - which turned out to be sooner than later. 9. The warranty information was confusing. The amazon page listed it as 3 years, the box it came in as 12 months, and the manual it came with - 2 years. When I asked for clarification on this question, I didn't get a straight answer, but I believe it is the three years as was stated on the webpage. 9. Conclusion: For the money, it's probably a great buy. The customer service was pleasantly awesome. And I'm getting great juice. I wish it yielded more juice per amount of veggies, but maybe it's the best you can expect from a masticating juicer of this caliber? Meanwhile, I'll just keep using the pulp in my soups and stews so nothing goes to waste. ... show more
