The futon was easy to put together and insanely sturdy, I wasn’t prepared for how heavy and well made this thing was gonna be. And the mattress is very firm and comfortable, I bought the version with the drawers on the bottom and the only thing I would change is that they have tracks instead of being separate from the futon. Love this futon frame and mattress! We wanted a futon our home office that could be used for hosting an occasional guest and this fits the bill nicely. The arms have a small end table that can be folded down to save space when not in use. The frame is sturdy and the mattress is fairly comfortable. We opted for the drawers which provide some convenient storage space. I was amazed by the quality. Rarely do you find anything that is made of solid wood. Here are my takeaways: 1. The finish is flawless. 2. There was no damage whatsoever in shipping 3. The instructions are the best I've ever seen (and I've done a lot of assembling). They organize the parts according to steps - I've always wondered why companies don't do that. It's impossible to get the parts mixed up. 4. They provide spare parts and they're labeled as such so you don't wonder why there are parts left over 5. Only tool required is an allen wrench and they provide multiples so two people can be working at once. 6. The Grey of the futon is a true grey (no blue tone). 7. Drawers fit perfectly. 8. easy to put together.. I had a problem in the beginning going from bed back to upright.. but I was doing it wrong... I wasn't putting pressure on the mid section while trying to lift the back up... very comfortable.. sturdy too

Did a lot of comparing before getting this, as it would serve for my every day bed and couch. Its been a week and so far, so good. Was expecting the assembly to be harder, based on some of these reviews. But honestly, if you read the directions closely, its all clearly laid out. It's a bit difficult to close up with one person but possible. The wood is sturdy, the mattress comfortable and the drawers are huge! The mattress did have a bit of a "packed away" smell at first but that aired out quickly. 10/10 Would recommend! ... show more

I haven't had it in the "seated position as I use it as a guest bed, so I cannot say how well the mattress sits up, as it is very firm.
