This turned out to be a good product after a long assembly process and confusion when one of the three packages did not arrive with the others. The seller should state up front that there will be one rolled mattress shipped and two boxes of parts. Receiving the larger box with most of the parts but not the arms on the date marked as "delivered" is a bit confusing when you are far into the assembly steps and only then realize the arms and bottom frame are not there. It took parts of two days on a weekend to assemble the queen sized product. I would rate this as an 8 on a 10 point scale of difficulty. It really takes two people to hold the parts together while trying to tamp the ends. I used a wood working clamp to hold them together for some of the steps. Also, the wood has a fairly strong odor that I dealt with using a fan on those parts in the garage and a wipe down with Endust (not water) before moving the wood parts back into the house. It's unusual to have a mattress with no smell but a strong odor coming from the wood parts. At any rate I got through the ordeals and confusion on number of boxes and assembly steps to take a nap on the finished product late on day two. It looks nice with two large accent pillows on the charcoal colored mattress and is quite long to lay down on even for a 6 foot person.

The futon is comfortable to lay on although no one has used it for sleeping yet. In the 'couch' mode shorter people's feet may not touch the floor while seated. Overall, the comfort is very good. The unit feels very solid and stable. All of the parts were in great shape when I received them and there was no damage or marks. The written and video instructions were absolutely outstanding. Assembly instructions were clear and all parts for well labeled. This should be a model for all assembly instructions (I'm talking to you, IKEA). The manufacturer even included two packages of spare parts in case something got misplaced during assembly. I was able to complete most of the steps by myself but needed another person to help with the last few steps. The futon ships in three packages- two packages for the frame and a separate package for the mattress. The two frame packages came a couple of days apart. I suggest the manufacturer let people know they should wait to receive all three packages before beginning assembly.

We received the boxes from Amazon and one of the long pieces of wood for the back was broken. I sent an email with a picture to Kodiak and they responded immediately with a tracking number for the new part. Once it arrived, the futon was simple to assemble - everything was clearly marked; especially the hardware.

The color and size are true to the combination I ordered. Easy to put together. For the most part one person can assemble until you need to attach the bench/ bed section to the frame, definitely recommend two people for that part. The mattress is comfortable but sturdy. Make sure you find the label on the mattress that tells you the correct side to place down on the bench/ seat portion because of the way the mattress is hinged to fit for the seating position. I recommend this because the hinge is offset (not in the middle of the mattress), at least for the queen size that is. It will be stiff at first when fitting the mattress properly in the seating position on the futon frame, but once you know where it hinges you can work it on the futon.

The video helped with the ease of putting it together although it did take 2 hours with 2 of us. My parents were the first to use it. They said it was ok but a little hard. Sitting on it in the couch position seemed comfortable to me. It got stuck in the bed position and took a little work to get it back up. Overall I'm happy with it. It is great to have an extra sleeping area for guests.

Very comfortable as a queen sized bed as well as in the sofa position. I didn’t think I’d ever purchase another futon after the 1980s. The sofa sleepers we liked we just too expensive for what we needed this for. We keep this in our office for our son to sleep on when he comes home from college. Easy to put together, it took my husband and I an hour or so. The boxes are very large and very heavy.

I was able to assemble this by myself, except when installing the deck and placing the mattress (queen is very heavy). It's a must to have help loading the rack and a heavy mattress. I purchased a queen size with a dark frame and gray cover - it is beautiful! The mattress is very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a sturdy and attractive futon.

I love this, the mattresses is very comfortable and the whole assembly feels solid We needed a sleeper sofa for our guest room but found out that we were going to pay double the price of this one, and even get a 3-4 in mattress, so this option is cheaper and way better! I honestly do not know why would anyone buy anything else than this.
