This turned out to be a really pretty piece of furniture, the wood is gorgeous and the mattress looks like a nice quality and it sits comfortably - even though we have not slept on it yet. It fit my husband great, he is 6 foot and was very pleased with the overall size and design. When opening up the box, be careful - some of the hardware was loose in the box, but luckily it was all there. The really helpful thing was that we watched the video before attempting to assemble. The instructions are mostly pictures and several helpful tips were in the video, which helped take away questions and mistakes. We probably took about 1 hour to assemble and loved the end product and we didn't have any 'do overs' (again probably due to the video). I can testify that the mattress is very comfortable. My toddler has had stomach issues since he was 3 weeks old and I lost a lot of sleep trying to get him to sleep in his crib. Finally we moved and bought this futon and I started trying to get him to lay down with me so I could get some sleep (he was over a year old at this point and I was exhausted). My husband has to wake up at 4am so sleeping in a room together wouldn't work well with him getting ready as our son is a very light sleeper (another reason why I was so exhausted). Then our son started getting ear infections regularly which led to getting tubes and other infections/colds almost weekly. After sleeping on this futon for almost 2 years - I can say it has held up very well and is more comfortable to me than the $800 mattress in the bedroom. I will need to purchase another mattress due to my son pulling up the mattress protector at night and sleeping under it then peeing through his diaper. I just can't get the pee smell out unfortunately. The only bad thing about this was the assembly. There are youtube instructions, but at times even they were difficult to follow. We got it together obviously, however; it took 3 hours and taking some stuff apart and putting it back together again. I'd buy another, next time the one with drawers :) ... show more

Would I buy this futon again? No. It’s too tall (I’m 5’6” and my feet do not reach the floor), it’s easy to out together until it’s not (can be accomplished by one person, two is better), and the mattress makes some odd creaking spring type noises. Does it serve the purpose I need it to serve for now (a short term alternative to a couch while I save for the tea thing that also allows me to host freienda and family that come to visit)? Yes. It does. Is it solid wood and incredibly sturdy? Yes, it is. Is it aesthetically pleasing? Mostly. And for that I give it 4 stars. ... show more

This futon was easy to assemble (followed along online with the Kodiak assembly video), and can be assembled by one person for MOST of the assembly, but requires two people to put the final assembled pieces together. The parts seem sturdy and well constructed. The mattress is very well made and VERY heavy. The futon very easily converts to a bed, BUT my only complaint is that it is extremely difficult to convert back to a couch from a bed. I believe this is due to the weight of the mattress, and it requires 2 people to do. My work around (as a second person may not always be around) was to cut a piece of rope about 8' long and attach each end to either side of the top/back of the futon frame, and letting the excess droop behind the futon (can't be seen due to mattress). When I need to convert the futon back to a couch I pull that rope over the front of the mattress, stand in front of the futon and while pushing on the seat of the futon, pull the rope to lift the back until the futon clicks back into couch form. This did not start out well as we purchased this as a part of a Christmas gift for the grandkids. We were turning their room into a playroom and this was a key element. It arrived and we could tell immediately that it had already been opened. We went to put it together only to discover that the hardware to assemble it was missing. Called Amazon (who was EXTREMELY helpful) and was told that there was no way to get just the hardware. We had to return the product (I'd like to point out that this is a FUTON and was rather heavy and awkward and had already been taken out of the box) and they would send us another. Amazon did consent to send the other without waiting for the first one to come back, which they did, but it was not likely to arrive in time for Christmas which was going to ruin my plan for the grandkids. We packed it back up and hauled it out it the garage and we were completely stunned when the replacement arrived 3 days later. It took several phone calls to get the first one returned because Amazon was under the impression that I was going to take this to the UPS store and "drop it off" and needed to be convinced that they had to come get it. Fortunately, this one had everything it needed and father and son got it together pretty easily. It takes two people to raise and lower it but it's comfortable as both a couch and a bed. It creaks A LOT when you are sleeping on it so you tend to get woken up every time you move . Overall I am very happy with it and I don't regret the purchase. ... show more
