This mattress is great. It comes vacuum sealed and rolled up so it is easy to move around. Once opened it takes shape fast and is ready to use in minutes. Ours looks great and is very comfy. It is thicker than other mattresses we have used but it is worth it for the comfort. This also means opening and closing the futon is harder just so you are aware. We did have one of the black decorations come off but we don't think it was the manufacturer's fault rather our excited dog. Overall this is a massive improvement to a cheap mattress while still being affordable, it looks great and was easy to get inside. We give it a perfect score

This is so comfotable!! It is the perfect amount of firm and soft. It is very supportive. It is easy to setup! It did not have a strong smell when opening like a lot of new futon mattresses

The mattress that came with my futon felt like it was stuffed with rags. It was hard as a rock. The Kodiak Mattress is fairly comfortable, firm, not squishy. Its memory foam and inner spring construction are good for sitting and sleeping. The cover is attractive and feels durable. There's no foam or upholstery smell. It is a perfect fit for the old mattress. Amazon has many cheaper alternatives. This mattress is Made in U.S.A. My only issue with it is it is a bear to wrestle into place. I started out using it to sleep on. Then I tried to fold it into a sofa shape for sitting. It supposedly has a hinge feature to make this easy. It is not. There's a label on the bottom indicating the correct position to use it. The mattress weighs 60 pounds. The cover fits tightly so it's hard to get a good grip and pull it into place. I needed to remove it from the futon frame, fold the frame up, then while standing in front of the futon, grab the top edge of the mattress and pull it toward me while pushing it into place with my knees. This is really a job for two people. Bottom line is if you'll only change its configuration occasionally and have two people to adjust it, you'll be OK.

This futon mattress was purchased mainly for extra seating when we have out of town visitors. It is sturdy and is very comfortable to sit on. I've actually been using it instead of my usual chair/ottoman! I like the inner springs that give it much more support than the foam mattresses we have had before. And, the hinged springs make it instantly fit to the futon frame in the seating position, no sliding and it trying to form into the bed position like the foam mattresses. No need for pads to keep it in place. We've only had it a couple of weeks and haven't used it for sleep yet. I covered it immediately with an old quilt to protect the fabric. The fabric was a good quality as well with no observed defects. All in all, it fits our purpose perfectly.

After reading some negative reviews, I was very relieved to see the final product. It arrived a day early. Despite my written instructions to bring to our porch, FedEx, left the heavy package out by our curb. It expanded immediately when unrolled. I have no doubt it will conform to the 8" description. Firm and supportive, not too hard, not too soft... The linen stone color is uniform throughout; not with the subtle stripes as shown in the listing. The third picture in the ad, with the fabric alone, is a perfect match. Very rich looking! It fit our full futon frame perfectly. The back of the mattress rises nicely above the back frame. Hugging one's head, it is comfortable and relaxing - even to a tall person. It's so nice to receive what was promised, and even better, when it exceeds my expectations!

Highly recommend. First, I would ignore any reviews that complain about the mattress being difficult to fold into a sitting position. There is a label underneath the mattress which tells you to orient the mattress with the label towards the front, under the seat. If you follow those instructions, the mattress folds easily into a sitting position. The mattress itself is heavy, I'm guessing 50 to 60 lb, which makes it a little tricky to move for some people if they don't have the upper body strength. But that weight is a good thing. I have a feeling this mattress he's going to last a very long time. Unlike some futons I've slept on in the past, this one is made for durability and comfort. I took my time setting it up but it was so well engineered and the instructions were so good, a beginner would have no problem. I would suggest, however, approaching setup with a cordless drill or electric screwdriver that has the correct hex bit for the job. It will make things go much faster for you. Always a good idea to have those around the house anyway.
