If you're reading the reviews on these pliers than you're probably scheduling some maintenance or repairs/upgrades to something you own. You're sitting there staring at the price thinking is it really worth it? I'm already spent so much on parts and other things I HAD to buy, and I've got those reversible snap-ring pliers in the garage. Surely last time wasn't as bad as you remember, you only launched a snapring 20 feet into the yard and had to look for it for 2 hours, then had it slip out 20 times before finally seating. There definitely isn't a poorly patched hole in your drywall from something or another you may have thrown through it after having almost seated the snapring when the screw that lets you swap it from inside to outside lets loose. Suck it up and buy them. Your sanity will thank you. Knipex is to pliers as Snap-On is to wrenches. I bought these and a set of 4611A1's to install 32 snap rings on my engine's rocker arm upgrade. Not a single time did a snapring slip or fail to go exactly where I wanted it. You will forget the cost the first time using them, and will just think "Damn these are good pliers." ... show more

Trying to repair the gearbox of a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer? The one tool you’ll need is a pair snap ring or retainer ring pliers. Having stumbled around trying to figure out what fits, I finally discovered the perfect set! The shaft diameter of the Kitchenaid mixer is 1/2” (12.7mm) and these pliers are rated for 10mm to 25mm. The tips are slightly angled outward to hold the ring when its in tension. This is a best quality tool, but the cost is negligible once you see how well it works. ... show more

The pliers that I received are different than the ones pictured. They are not the box joint construction like pictured. Furthermore, they do not snap back to the closed position - they are pretty spongey when it comes to the spring closure. Lastly, I have big hands and these are too big for even my hands.
