  • Indoors great / outdoors not so much
If you’re using this indoors, it is a lifesaver! After breaking my ankle, I just had crutches for a few days, and I was so sore and bruised from them. The scooter is well-made, solid, and a breeze to ride. We have hardwood floors and tile, and apparently our contractor did a good job on the remodel because it’s all very smooth and level transitions. However, outside, the scooter is pretty scary. Even on new sidewalk, the little seams in between sections make the wheels jar left and right. And if there’s any sort of bumps or pattern, it’s very jarring. So it is pretty hazardous to use outdoors. I probably should’ve got one with shocks and big bulky wheels, because this is not one to use outside. I purchased separately the memory foam Rover pad, and it’s very comfortable to use. And the basket is so convenient around the house to put things in as I can’t carry and steer at the same time. ... show more

  • Game changer
So much better than crutches!!! My husband had foot surgery and was advised to stay off his foot for a week. To get around he was using crutches which meant he was hopping on the opposite leg but that was straining a knee that was replaced a couple of years ago. I ordered the scooter to see if it could help. The knee rover arrived within 2days and was simple to assemble. My husband put it together within 30 min and needed none of his tools. Now he looks forward to getting around the house safely without injuring himself while he recovers and heals!! The scooter is well made, good with 3 pt turns, and balanced. Now he can get around and I’m less worried about any injuries from him using crutches. ... show more

  • Advice from my ankle surgery
If you are having ankle surgery and will be non-weight bearing, I have some advice from my experience that might make your life easier. For starters, everyone is talking about the turn radius of this scooter and they are right. 3 point turn? More like 15 point turn. It is great for navigating the house, but the bathroom and tight spaces are difficult. It also is a tipping hazard, so watch for rocks, carpet, anything that the wheels could catch on. But the basket is incredibly handy and the brakes are strong and I use them for stability when navigating uneven surfaces. Great scooter for the price, and the cushion is comfortable. Also, I would skip the crutches and invest in some good knee pads and a walker. The walker is for when you place 25%, 50%, 75% weight (which is harder to do with crutches). You will also be crawling around a lot more than you think. Knee pads just make life easier when your scooter can’t navigate certain areas like the laundry room or bathroom. Lastly, baby wipes. Every time you stand, blood will rush to your foot. So minimizing the amount of times you need to get up is key. Baby wipe baths are the way to go for the first 2 weeks. After that the swelling pain will become manageable and you can take regular baths. ... show more

  • Well worth the money
This scooter is a godsend. I've been on crutches for a week and I hate them for mobility. I'm over 60 so this scooter will allow me some mobility while keeping me much more stable than the crutches. It does make very wide turns, and that makes it safer, but it's a consideration when navigating it. Also, it does maneuver in and out of my tiny master bathroom , so I'll switch to the guest bathroom which is larger. Again, something to think about. Overall, I'm thrilled. ... show more

  • Total lifesaver after foot surgery
I love this scooter! I'm a menace on crutches and needed something stable to prevent me from messing up my post-surgery foot. I read the reviews for all of the other products and opted to get this one. No black marks on the floor. Maneuverability is a little rough but I think it's an issue for all scooters. It's light weight enough to pick up and adjust which is very important. Here's some tips: 1) Get some sturdy sock/slippers with the grippers on the bottom. You'll need something that sticks to the floor for the foot you use. Don't scoot without them. 2) This is great to help you use the bathroom - you can use the scooter to help lower you onto the commode rather than stressing your knees out. Always remember to keep the brake locked while you are using the scooter to help you balance or get into bed, etc... 3) You will probably have to tighten some areas after using a bit. This is not a big deal. The front "lock" device where you insert the handlebars comes loose all the time (see close up photo with arrow). I wish this didn't happen but it's not a dealbreaker. 4) The basket is super helpful and a must have. You can keep your medications, hand lotions, phone, etc. handy and it's helpful when needing to cook. 5) Make it fun. I added a sticker to mine. You're going to be miserable the first few days so you might as well make the best of it. 6) Finally, make sure to practice prior to your surgery so that you thoroughly understand its capabilities. Practice how you're going to get into bed, go to the bathroom, get into the shower, get food from the fridge, etc.. Trust me - it makes a huge difference. As you get better you're going to think this is a toy and that you can go faster and downhills - DON'T. Continue to stay cautious and protect your foot. I love this scooter. If you have reasonable expectations for how it can enable you, then you won't be disappointed. ... show more
