  • Great cart poor assembly instructions
Very pleased with the cart hold a190 Hobart welder nicely.room on each side and in front for the welder, have to tilt or raise the welder to get the door open to change the spool. As others have mentioned on here assembly instructions suck. Use two washers, lock washers and nut on every bolt, especially the caster bolts they will hit when they swivel if you don’t use washers on top. As far as the small screws to help hold the side while assembling, ditch those and drill all small holes out to 1/8” and install some 1/8” rivets. The stews simply don’t hold and are junk. As far as that I’m pleased with the functionality of the cart. ... show more

  • Good cart, zero instructions on how to put it together.
So this litttle cart arrived much like everything else does now adays. In a box with bags of bolts, screws, washers and random brackets. I expect this ordering stuff offline. What I didnt expect was that they did not include any assembly instructions. No "bolt 1" "bolt 2" yadda yadda. I consider myself pretty handy and i can figure it out, but there has to be 200+ bolts and washers etc in this thing, and some of the assembly requires that it be done in the proper order or you get to do it all again. After ive done it all again, and again, and again,I figured it out. So that s the downside. The upside, most of the bolts and washers and locksashers are the same size. You can use deductive reasoning to figure out the ones that are different and where they gom The other upside: After rifling through the box and all its contents about ten times I was sure this was going to be a one star review. But, im actually impressed. The little cart seems very sturdy, its simple and effective and just durable enough to make it worth ordering. Summery: I kind of like this thing, how about some.pointers on the assembly though, i put this whole thing together with the parts breakdown in the owners manual and the picture on the box. ... show more

  • HEAVY DUTY YES
Tell you this: It is a very study and well-built unit. Here is the bad point: Assembly instructions are poor at best. Was the quite the challenge. The door was the next challenge, as it would not close easily. Caused by the 90 degree flange bends of the door (stamped from HD sheet metal). Had to hammer the flanges inward a little so they cleared the jams. Once this was done, door closed easily. Again, a very sturdy unit can hold two heavy MIG/TIG units or a combo of both. ... show more

  • A serviceable cart that fills a design feature niche, but takes awhile to assemble
Pros: This cart fills a niche between small economy carts with no enclosed cabinet space and larger, much more expensive carts with considerable enclosed storage options. The construction is reasonably sturdy when assembled, and the finish--which is a textured/crinkly black enamel--looks like it will hold up to hobbyist/barn usage (probably in excess of my actual anticipated usage). The components were packaged with some foam sheets between the parts, so some care was given to minimize damage to the finish. Cons: This cart is WAY too dependent on bolted fasteners for assembly--There were like 3 lbs of 10mm bolts, nuts, & washers. The instructions are also disappointingly unclear on the use of washers and lock-washers in assembly. The assembly instructions are also purely text--no pictures showing assembly other than an exploded diagram indicating parts numbers for individual components, should you ever need to order one. But between these 2 aspects, it was not difficult to assemble, just very time consuming. It took me about 2 hours (+/-) altogether, to assemble the cart and set up with simple hand tools, and I am a mechanical engineer so my mechanical aptitude was not lacking. The box the cart is shipped in apparently also needs more tape to secure the ends, as when FedEx delivered my cart, the end of the box was open and the contents were disheveled, indicating that there was a spillage of contents. I suspect this is why some of the components appeared to have light scuffs on their finish (and considering this is a tool cart, they weren't bothersome to me). Looking at the other end of the box, it appeared to be secured by 3 strips of clear packing tape, of which only 1 were still intact. No glue. No heavy staples. Just a little bit of packing tape to contain maybe 50 lbs steel plates inside. I mean, really? Bottom line: A serviceable cart, with a better features I think than the other mid-range cart available. A design that minimizes the bolted fastener requirement would be helpful--Make some use of tab & slot assembly technique and save the fasteners for locking it together. Also could use better clarity in the assembly instructions related to fastener use (ie. do I use 1 or 2 flat washers for each joint?), and more secure packing closure, since it wasn't adequate to survive FedEx. All told, think it was a good value purchase. I would give it 3.5 or 4 stars but for the packaging failure. ... show more

  • Notes on assembly for others
This is a good rig. If you are here you have already concluded that fabricating a cart is not an economical choice given the time and cost of materials, and you probably won’t do much better than this. Mine had some dings in the powder coat from shipping, but no big deal. Most of the negative reviews are about the assembly process and some of the cheaper hardware provided. I am sharing what I did to help others. (1) Buy 2 packets of ten 10-24 x1/4” machine screws w/ washers and nuts from the hardware store. For all the screws that hold the cabinet onto the base plate and the center rack onto the cabinet, drill out the factory holes with a 15/64” drill bit and run the machine screws through the holes. (2) There is some slop in the brackets that hold the axle onto the base plate. Cut some rubber, I used the rubber mats you put in drawers of a tool box, to the size of the brackets and press the brackets over the rubber. (3) Anytime the assembly instructions refer to a 10mm bolt tightened with a nut, they really mean to use a flat washer on both sides, plus a lock washer and a nut. If you do this for all the through bolts (that don’t have a weld nut) you will end up with washers to spare. Hope this helps others. ... show more

  • It’s sturdy
The media could not be loaded. Didn’t come with instructions, but had everything else. Needed an extra set of hands to assist with the swivel wheels on but other than that was super easy to assemble guessingly looking at the box. Fairly straightforward so did not require too much finesse at all. Used power tools to speed up assembly. Took about an hour. ... show more
