    • Nice bag, Terrible clip
I'm a commercial / light industrial electrician. As such, I spend a LOT of time working in lifts. I've been looking for a high quality canvas "bucket," to replace the cheap Husky that I had been using; something which isn't obnoxiously large that's big enough to throw a few hand tools in and hang on my lift without having to make any modifications. The canvas bag itself is great. Durable and just the right size I was looking for. I can easily throw a couple screw drivers, pair of dikes, and channel locks in without worry. The inside pockets are small, but are a great fit for my apex/nut drivers that I use with my impact. Unfortunately, this otherwise solid bag is supported by a rather cheap feeling strap with the tiniest, cheapest clip you could imagine. The clip is absolutely useless, which is a damn shame. I've been able to make do, but if you do real work you're going to need a large carabiner in order to actually hang the bag. I've since moved on to using a Klein Tools 51A Tool Pouch, which is slightly larger with a bigger inside pocket, double stitched, and has clips which are much more well suited for working off of most common lifts. It's much sturdier and is only like $5 bucks more. I gave the 5143 to my apprentice. I use this for collecting Brass at SASS shooting events. It hangs from a hook on my cart and allows me to store misc items and used brass easily. The heavy cotton goes well with the worn western look. It seems a bit pricey for a small bag but the quality is good so I don't feel cheated at all. it's thin canvas. its smaller than you would think. it isn't going to last if you're doing core/shell work coming out of the ground. maybe good for like tenant lighting or telecom or something. i use the 5416OCTO around the house since i usually have to be tinkering with something. the 5416 is $1.30 more than this bag. its easily twice as thick and way more sturdy. I wanted something a little smaller to hang on the ladder at work. it has four seams that all meet at the bottom of the bag. if you don't put something in there to protect the bottom, you WILL have a hole in it after a week if you're putting tools in/out of it. maybe it's just me. maybe the 5416octo is just a good deal? cause this being the same price is a far far more inferior product. i may use this bag as the home tinkering bag instead cause it ain't going to last on a job site. the difference in the canvas is really the most surprising. i can throw my 3/8 slotted 8" square shank screwdriver, pliers, and everything else in the 5416 without worrying about puncturing it. I worry this bag will have a hole after 1 day of real abuse. ... show more
