  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, fair price.
This is the first night vision binocular I ever receive. I was so surprised when I use it in the complete darkness. I took some photos in my house and I can't wait to try outsides. I used with my dog, first one still had little light and then with 3 leves IR. Amazing isn't it! Last one is in the dark. It is easy to use and big screen is awesome. This binocular takes 8 AA baterries that will be a little heavy, I suggest if it canbe charged instead of batteries will be better. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for camping, hiking, hunting, etc.!
These night vision binoculars have quite a bit packed into them and in my opinion a great value for what you get. Opening the package you'll find a carrying case, nigh vision binoculars, carrying strap, usb cable, video cable, lens cleaning cloth, micro sd card, and owners manual. It features a 4" display with a viewing port that has an oval shape, more on that later. The zoom on it is good, however, for close range it might be a bit disorienting at least at first. The zoom is stated to be optical 3.5-7x., which optical is going to be a much better quality than digital in my opinion. It says that it has a stated range of 1300ft which is quite far, and multiple adjustments using the buttons on the unit to compensate for surrounding environment light. Trying out the night vision of course I was totally blown away that for this price point it works as well as it does. One thing that I noted was that even with the IR or night vision off the low light ability of the camera/lens system was pretty spot on. I was able to make out and see quite a few objects with very minimal light. With the provided micro sd card you can snap photos and also record video, which can be downloaded to the pc using the supplied cable. You'll notice that depending your distance you'll need to use the manual adjustment to get the image to focus as they are not autofocusing. I did note in the manual that there is a power saving mode and it appears to shut the unit off after inactivity based on your settings. My only complaints hence why docked this a star was due to the viewing port and its shape, along with the battery setup. I would have liked to see the viewing port conform or be shaped to your nose/face to a degree, the oval shape is a tad uncomfortable in my opinion. As far as the batteries are concerned - I feel like they could have included rechargeable batteries, even if that meant slightly increasing the price. I don't have a solid idea yet of how long the 8 AA batteries will last, however, I will suggest having backup's just in case or spring for a set of rechargeables if you don't already have them. The display does show you battery life, however, it doesn't give you an estimated time to depletion. I like the fact that these can be worn around the neck and or affixed to a tripod - this makes it very handy if you like to spend your time outdoors. I could see these being used for many different activities including but not limited to camping, animal watching, hiking, hunting, surveillance, etc. If you're in the market and don't have a large budget, give these a try and I think that you'll be surprised with the results! ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great, Considering
You have to take into account what you have here. It's not a 3rd gen NVG. It's basically a low quality camera. That said, this is one of the best night vision viewers of this type I've had the chance to try out. Not using the IR light at all, these do a pretty good job of enhancing the available light to be able to see at night. The quality of the picture in the viewer is good, but not great. You can see stuff without the IR, although it's pretty dim. The IR light though, that's pretty great. We have another, very small, night vision device that uses basically the same mechanisms. It included an IR light. Using it to help us test this device, we could see the light on this device, lighting up over the top of of the little device. It's that bright. It went pretty far into the woods and well down the driveway, pretty much lighting up the landscape. You can record pictures, which are of decent, but not great quality. Same goes with the video. It's OK. However, it's taken at night and is better than any other mechanism we have around the house now. The carrying case is pretty nice. It has a neck sling which is OK, but not exciting. You can adjust the focus on the viewer. There are some settings to adjust the behavior, but I didn't test those much yet. Considering what you're paying, this is a pretty great device. Now, there are some issues. It takes 8 AA batteries to power it up. That makes it pretty darned heavy. Also, the view screen absolutely wrecks your night vision, so you have the choice of looking at this, or not looking at anything. Speaking of looking, the viewer was designed by someone with a mean streak. It has a hood that's supposed to block off surrounding lights & stuff to make view easier. However, it's really badly designed with no place for your nose to go, so it's squish against the uncomfortable rubber, or hold it away from your head, swaying around. However, comparing this to the other night vision cameras we have, it's just outstanding. It's not as good as a true optic, not even remotely. However, for the money, you're unlikely to see better. ... show more
