  • If Good Eats made a kit for kids
I thought this was going to be a basic ice cream kit, but was surprised to see the extra cans that came in this pack. There’s a large can for ice cream, but also 2 smaller containers that let the kids do controlled experiments so they can see how air, fat, and stabilizers change the ice cream. My son enjoyed reading the instruction booklet which had clear instructions, graphics, and interesting facts. As an Alton Brown fan, it’s like a Good Eats kit for kids. Worth noting that this kit does NOT include any food ingredients and you will need some additional kitchen equipment like microwave safe bowls to heat some cream cheese and your own storage containers for the ice cream. We only did a few of the experiments so far, but the quality of the materials provided looks like it will be durable enough to be reused for more ice cream concoctions. ... show more

  • Rewarding Work!
This took alot of work, especially since ou grandson chose to make ice cream, while having the flu, lol, but it worked well as stated. I recommend using a blender to crush the ice beforehand. Great science in making ice cream or sorbet! Yummy 😋

  • Ice Cream for all
At first I wondered if this kit would be worth it because it comes without the food. But after looking at the quality of the instruction book and tools included, I would say it is very well done and worth the price. The instruction book gives clear directions for each step of multiple batches of different ice creams making this an activity and learning experience that can carry through for quite some time. The kids had fun rolling the container and especially enjoyed the fruits of their labor. I would refrain from adding 1/2 Tablespoon of vanilla extract to the small containers. That was a bit strong. All in all this was a fun and educational experience that will continue beyond a one time use. ... show more

  • Wonderful gift and great activity for children
I bought this product for a birthday party we were going to and was looking for something more educational and not just a waste of money and plastic. I had heard great things about KiwiCo and wanted to try out one of their products. We had a chance to watch the birthday boy open it up and go through the contents. I was impressed with the high quality of everything included. Everything seems very well designed and crafted. While I wished I could have seen him make the ice cream, his mom told us that he did this week and had a great time doing it! And eating it! I'll definitely be purchasing more KiwiCo product in the future, and am looking closely at some of the subscriptions on their website. ... show more

  • Overall a good project however large jar is not dishwasher safe.
Used this with my child and was successful at making ice cream, however there is no mention of if the items are dishwasher safe or not. As a result the large jar got deformed in the dishwasher rendering it unusable. This was very disappointing and cause me to have to search to try to find a substitute jar which as yet have been unsuccessful. That really was disappointing... ... show more
