Many people have complained that these aren’t two sided. If you flip it over and look closely there is a tab and it’s perforated all around the bottom. Just pull on the tab and peel the bottom panel off, now it’s two sided. There are even directions on the back explaining this. My cats love these scratchers.

The size fits my 14 lb cat. He’s not only love the cardboards but also the box they come with. The boards are both sided. Flip it over and you will see the instruction. The easy-tear-lines make it easy to open. The paper frame is easy to tear apart. I like to remove the paper frame when I use the bottom side to maximize the scratching surface.

I've been purchasing these at Walmart for years for my cat at $10 a piece. I actually like these more than those and much cheaper. I love the 3 pack because I have them all over because my cat loves them. So it's nice to get 3 for the price of 2!! My cat seems to love these just as much as she did the others. Verdict is still out for how long they last compared to the others. But I would recommend!!! Update: I'm fairly certain these things are made of steel (haha - just kidding)! They are holding up WAAYYY better than the ones I use to purchase at Walmart!!! I am now a faithful customer!!!! Would recommend to anyone!!!

As a multi-cat household, I've become a bit of a connoisseur of the durability of cardboard scratches for cats. This 3 pack is less expensive than what we can find in our local big box store and are beloved by our cat household for the XL size which is perfect for laying on while shedding those claw sheaths! I like that the box that holds the innards is fairly durable (two of my cats are chewers) as well. I go through a (double sided) scratcher every 6-8 weeks and I'm throughly happy with these.

I rarely take time for reviews anymore, but I felt that I might be able to help others save a few dollars if I write this one. Most corrugated kitty scratching pads can be used twice. Once the first side is shredded to pieces, one can flip the corrugated cardboard over and start again, replacing the scratching pads when both sides are done. To prevent pet parents from doing this, and thus make more money on their product, the "Kitty City XL Wide Corrugate Scratchers" are glued into their cardboard frame, making it so that one must buy new scratching pads twice as often as with other pads. All, in all, most corrugated cardboard scratching pads are the same with little difference between this brand and that. The only difference is how you want to spend your hard earned money!!

My two cats, Nicodemus von Wittykitty and Legolas of Mirkwood, love the Kitty City XL Wide Premium Scratching Collection Pads. Legolas, being the older of the two at age 13, uses it for claw sharpening and sometimes as a lounger. Nicodemus, still a kitten at heart at age 7, likes to sharpen his claws, too. But where the Kitty City Scratching Pad really shines for Nicodemus is as a kitty surfboard! Several times a day (and sometimes in the middle of the night...sigh...), when Nicodemus is in Kitty Krazy mode, he'll start running full-tilt from the living room, gathering speed as he goes, into the dining room, and jumps squarely on top of the Kitty City Scratching Pad. The momentum causes the Kitty City Scratching Pad to "surf" across the dining room floor and halfway into the kitchen! Such great fun for Nicodemus (and other athletic kitties). With a Kitty City Scratching Pad, your kitty can "hang 18" too! Of course Nicodemus hasn't figured out how to get the Kitty City Scratching Pad BACK into the dining room for another run, so as a member of his staff, that's MY job. Apparently. Anyway, each Kitty City Scratching Pad lasts about two months in our house; one month per side. I have had to reinforce the corners of the cardboard trays with packing tape (I don't think the trays were designed to withstand the forces of kitty surfing). As for claws tearing up pieces of the scratch pad and flinging them all over the floor - it's manageable. The older and more "chewed up" the scratching surface gets, the more little pieces are torn out, landing on the floor. That's a good indicator the pad needs to be reversed, or, if both sides have already been used, toss that pad and bring out a new one. All in all, the Kitty City Scratching Pads rate 5 stars by Nicodemus, Legolas, and their staff!
