  • Here’s the scoop! It’s Cool and Sweat!🍦
Pattern Name: Food Mixer
A Sweet Game-Changer for Homemade Ice Cream! 🍦 The KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment is super easy to use—no salt or ice needed. Just freeze the bowl, attach it, and let your mixer do the rest. The cold liquid inside the bowl keeps everything chilled while it churns. It takes about 20 min but you do nothing…your kitchenAid and bowl combo does all the work. It is actually pretty fast. The ice cream turns out so creamy and delicious! I also grabbed the KitchenAid Ice Cream Recipe Book on Amazon for flavor ideas. The attachment is a bit expensive but totally worth it if you love ice cream. The premix is a little too sweet. Buy the book or go online and get a simple recipe. The bowl also works wonderful for homemade whip cream. You just wash out your bowl when done and dry It. Very easy to clean. Pop It back in the freezer for next time. I find this ice cream a bit healthier because you are in control of what you put in It. Don’t be fooled by the drive anssembly., I thought It did not fit but It fits tight once you put attach to the blender. I would and will purchase again. ⸻ ... show more

  • Easy to use, poor mix in bowl, turn on and walk away!
Pattern Name: Food Mixer
We love homemade ice cream and this is fabulous! Needed to make several batches for a bridal shower and did not want to use an ice cream freezer dealing with the ice and salt. The only minus is the size. Most recipes are for a 4 qt freezer and this one is only 2 quarts so it takes 2 days to make a full batch. You have to plan ahead or keep the bowl in the freezer. It was still a good purchase. ... show more

  • Makes a Great Batch of Ice Cream
Pattern Name: Food Mixer
I purchased the ice cream maker attachment to use with my dedicated Passover Kitchen Aid 5 Quart Artisan Mixer (which is in addition to the Kitchen Aid mixer I have on my kitchen counter the other 51 weeks of the year). On Passover, Jews cannot eat ice cream purchased from grocery stores or ice cream shops, because that ice cream generally contains additives which are derived from one or more of the forbidden grains. I thought it would be cool and different to serve ice cream sundaes, along with the usual coconut macaroons, for dessert at my Passover Seders. Now, as for the ice cream maker attachment...I love it, I found it super easy to use, and everyone at my Seders thought the ice cream was delicious and had the proper texture. All that said, my two words of advice to anyone who is considering purchasing this device are: PLAN AHEAD. When ordering the attachment, also select a cookbook for making ice cream with your mixer. When the box arrives, be sure to open it immediately, wash and thoroughly dry the bowl and other two parts, and get that dry bowl into the coldest part of your freezer ASAP. The bowl must freeze for a minimum of 16 hours. I read some of the less complimentary reviews and disagree completely with those descriptions of how the dasher (the thing that sits in the middle of the bowl and spins the ice cream) and drive assembly function. My experience with the dasher and drive assembly is that they worked perfectly. Back to planning ahead: when the ice cream has finished spinning (total time approximately 20 minutes +/-), it will have the consistency of soft serve. One then needs to very quickly use a silicone spatula or mixing spoon to scoop out the ice cream into two 1 liter containers (also available on Amazon), put those containers in the coldest part of the freezer and wait for at least two hours to allow the ice cream to freeze in a serious way. My personal result was approximately two liters of creamy chocolate chip ice cream. It really is a fun process using a great product, but it may not work well for a person who constantly needs immediate gratification. You know who you are! ... show more

  • Works great! until it didn't....
Pattern Name: Food Mixer
Bowl lasted through 5-6 dessert-making experiences. I made ice cream each time and stayed with pretty generic recipes. I followed all instructions for handling and caring for the bowl and stored it when it was not in use. The most recent attempt to make ice cream however was accompanied by a counter covered in liquid, as I scrambled to keep my dogs from licking the floors. The bowl formed a crack from the base to the lip. I contacted Kitchen-Aid, hopefully, this will get resolved soon.... Update! Within 2 weeks we had a new bowl at our step from Kitchen Aid free of charge. ... show more

  • Bowl & paddle are great, attachment piece is crap
Pattern Name: Food Mixer
**UPDATE: I reached out directly to Kitchen Aid and they replaced the broken piece at no charge as a one time courtesy. They also reminded me that ingredients should only be added AFTER the bowl and attachments are in place (which I thought I did). I’m adding back a star to 4. The reason I’m still keeping one off is that it shouldn’t have broken in the first place. I’ve used it again after receiving the new piece and works great! The bowl itself works great to freeze the ice cream. However, the piece that connects the Kitchen Aid mixer to the mixer paddle is crap! I used it twice and broke. Now I either have a useless bowl and paddle or I have to order a replacement piece from Kitchen Aid-SO frustrating!! (And I LOVE my Kitchen Aid mixer and have never had issues with other attachments) ... show more

  • A cook/balers dream machine
Pattern Name: Food Mixer
Christmas gift for my sister who lives to cook and bake. Functional and easy to clean. Bought a cookbook to go with it. Instructions made simple.

  • Great product. It takes a lot of freezer real estate
Pattern Name: Food Mixer
I love having the ability to make soft serve ice cream at home. If you put chilled ice cream mix in this you’ll have a delicious bowl of ice cream in about 30min. It is a hefty bowl due to it having insulated walls , so it takes a lot of freezer real estate. I store mine in the freezer so there’s always a spot cleared for it, but if you’re a planner you’ll just need to put it in the freezer the day before you want ice cream. In my experience I have given it a minimum of 16hrs to freeze and that worked well. The only downside to this bowl is it’s size. Whether it’s in a cupboard or in the freezer it takes a lot of space. But for me it’s worth the purchase to be able to make my own ice cream. ... show more
