  • Easy to use and effective
Size: X-Large Color: Blue Lid + Clear Base
I live by myself and sometimes have a hard time controlling when I use my phone. This does the trick. Just put whatever the problematic thing is in it and set the timer. It has a digital clock but otherwise reminds me of those small twist kitchen timers. Just set the time (minutes, hours and days) and then press the middle. It locks within 5 seconds so make sure it's fastened first. Let's talk about durability. In my opinion, this will survive as much because of the monetary cost as anything. The plastic seems moderately durable but won't be able to withstand, say, a hammer. If you're truly addicted to something to the point of acting out, or you're using it to keep someone else from having access to something, then I wouldn't depend on its fortitude. It reminds me of one of those hard plastic food containers. If your problem is some basic temptation, then this cuts that out. If not, then the question is whether or not you'd be willing to spend over $50 for momentary satisfaction by attempting to break this thing. ... show more

  • Great to hide away phones and credit cards
Size: Medium Color: Pink Lid + White Base
I definitely have a money spending problem, and since using this I have only used my digital credit card to buy another one of these for phones. My timer is still going and no extra spending since! Very useful, easy to use, and quick to set up. If you have a bad habit you want to trash, consider this your new trash can. I love this thing so much. Since the medium and extra small are the same price, I got mediums. I wish the extra small was a bit cheaper due to size differences. ... show more

  • Durable and works as advertised
Size: Medium Color: Blue Lid + Clear Base
Product is recommended by NY Times website wirecutter.com - and it works perfectly. Place you cell phone inside for hours - and suddenly you can get alot of work done w/out the distractions of news, email, social media and the end dross that efficiently sucks you into using the Internet for hours. The only caveat: it has an opening (hole) for your charging cord - I used this a couple of times, but due to the angle of the phone and cord, it easily bends the cord plug, breaking it. I had to buy a new charger cord - for about $35. But still if you don't try to charge a device while it's IN the Lock Box, it's an amazing device. ... show more

  • locks up chocolate and chips :)
Size: X-Large Color: Blue Lid + Clear Base
This works exactly as I hoped it would. I got the clear one so that I could see what was inside because I was afraid I would forget and I’m glad I made that choice. The mechanism is very easy: you just turn the dial a few times until your desired number of hours and minutes and then press it. It will countdown for five seconds and then two little plastic pins (or tabs), one at each side, come out into little holes locking it until your timer runs out. I keep snack items in it so that I will only eat them once a day. The first lid I got actually did not work but the company’s support was very quick in replacing - I sent an email and they answered within a few hours with the new lid arriving two days later. They even sent me the color I wanted (red) which hadn’t been available at the time I placed my order on Amazon. The replacement lid worked perfectly and I love the red. The blue was actually pretty nice too. One thing to note is that the instructions say that if the battery runs out you won’t be able to open the container until you replace the batteries. This makes sense because you don’t want it to be too easy to disable by just taking out the batteries. As far as I can tell what will happen when the batteries run out is that the timing will go into memory and when you put the batteries in the clock will start counting down from there. That is just my interpretation, however, because this has not happened to me yet. I would, however, recommend that you have batteries on hand for when this happens. Another thing to note is that the instructions say not to put it in the refrigerator or freezer. What they recommend is that if you want to lock up something like ice cream you get another lock box for your ice cream and put the key in this container. If you do that you might as well get the smallest cheapest one because presumably your keys won’t take up too much room. Initially I wasn’t thrilled with how much this thing costs, but on reflection I realize that if it were too cheap I might just break it to get what I want from inside :) The last thing of note has to do with what happens if you accidentally lock up something you need to get to like your credit card or phone. The instructions that come with this say that if that happens you should contact the company for further instructions about how to break the base without breaking the lid. Basically this is because the base is much cheaper than the lid and they can send you a replacement for less money. I do not plan on finding out the details of this unless I need to know them, but since I am only planning on locking up chocolate and potato chips it is probably not going to be an issue for me. ... show more

  • Great First Version BUT
Size: Medium Color: White Lid + White Base
The display is always on and this drains the batteries. It needs a display time out and wake built-in feature. It seems like the product engineers could easily add a week or month feature in addition to the days counter, very simply. The product so far is excellent overall. The click wheel is smooth and the feedback is great. It would make sense to have a small price difference between the different size container purchase options. The unit is somewhat top-heavy and it would be great to see the designers combat that in a later version of this product. The name Kitchen Safe seems to be narrowly scoped for what many users intent to keep in the safe; i.e. cigarettes, phones, or other non-food based, timed, personal rewards. Although it was the wonderful inspiration for the original concept. I was going back and forth from white base to the transparent and I am so glad I went with the white base. The anxiety of seeing the item out of reach would have been much worse than having to verify the item is in fact inside. When I lock away something that I need to keep out of reach, there is no way I can forget that item due to it coming to this point. I put my iPhone inside and then use my Apple watch to message or answer any important calls. All this safe does is keep me away from doom-scrolling after work. The effects on me so far have been extraordinary. I also keep my watch only on 'do not disturb' and that has cut my screen time in half because much of the information I'd like to access frequently is on my GPS only watch. That saves me from opening unnecessary apps. Overall recommend, and I will likely invest in later product editions as well. ... show more
