  • Saves my hands and made to last!
Style: PC Layout
This is my absolute favorite keyboard! I had my previous one for 9 years, so it really lasts! I type full-time for a living, typing tens of thousands of words each week. I thought I was headed for carpal tunnel surgery a decade ago, so I got this and also worked on some exercises. The split keyboard took a little adjustment initially, but now I hate to be without it. The tenting (raising and angling each side) keeps my wrists in a very natural position, and splitting they keyboard means my arms are kept at a neutral angle. Additionally, I learned to use a mouse ambidextrously, and I keep the mouse between the two halves of the keyboard so it's accessible for either hand (and also less stress on the shoulder joint since I'm not reaching out to the side to use the mouse.) I no longer worry about needing surgery! The only reason I had to replace my previous keyboard is because the E key started to fail--but that's no surprise with the workout I give it! The new one worked exactly the same and was super easy to install. I'm thankful to God for this keyboard and think it has extended the health of my joints. ... show more

  • Great Keyboard
Style: Mac Layout
I tried a competitor but found their keyboard too large. I don't need the number's pad so this Kinesis keyboard is a great value. I've used their keyboards before and they last forever. Happy customer.

  • Good but can be improved
Style: Mac Layout
Update: another side effect of the ESC being too far left is that the number function keys (F1, F2, ...) is misaligned with the number keys (1,2,..) just below it -- exactly one key off -- making it very unintuitive! ------ First, the upside: In general a good design for a split keyboard. Material is fine. Split distance is sufficient. The ergonomic is good. I use a Macbook only with USB-C ports, so I like the additional USB-A ports so that I can plug in a mouse. I like the Mac function keys (volume, brightness, window manager, etc.). I enjoy using it for the most part. Now, the downside. None of these have not been mentioned by other reviewers, but I'd like to reinforce them so hopefully the manufacturer can consider the improvement. From the most significant to the least: 1. The major downside is that the lifters don't live up to expectation. Someone else has a video showing how unstable they are. A person like me tend to move the keyboard around the desk a lot. That's bad for me. The concept is attractive, but maybe they can't engineer a robust solution under budget. I end up just taking them off. I feel I overpaid for an unused feature. If you really need an angle, I suggest you use a tape to fix the lifters so they don't swing. 2. The placement of ESC is TOO far away for programmers. 3. The placement of number 6 can be debated. ... show more

  • An Outstanding Keyboard!!!
Style: PC Layout
An outstanding keyboard!!! I recently broke my wrist but needed to continue working so went looking for a keyboard that would accommodate not being able to rotate, tilt or flex my left wrist. This keyboard was exactly what I was looking for! The construction is as good as the best out there, except maybe the old IBM Model M mechanical keyboards. Mine arrived with the wrist rest and left-right tilt accessory kit installed. I wouldn't buy this keyboard without it. I tilted the left section full (15 degrees) and fiddled with it's rotation until they home keys were under my fingers without having to tilt, rotate or twist my wrist. After a few minutes getting used to the slight variation in the location of some of the lesser used keys I was able to work as quickly as if I hadn't had a titanium T plate and half a dozen screws recently installed in my distal radius bone. I definitely recommend this keyboard to anyone needing a keyboard to adjust to your hand(s) position. I also found it more comfortable for my uninjured hand versus the typical square layout or even the Microsoft Natural keyboard I normally use. After a week's use I can find only two things that might improve it. The first is if there was a way to adjust the tilt of each half from front to back. I did this by stacking 3x5 cards under it but a front to back tilt adjustment would be well worth it to go along with the left to right tilt that is built into the accessory kit. The other improvement might not be enjoyed by all, but I really like the tactile feel of the old IBM Model M mechanical keyboards. If Kinesis offered this keyboard with front to back tilt (in addition to the current left to right tilt) and mechanical keys I'd have to rate it a 10 out of 5!!! But even with these potential improvements left off, this is an excellent keyboard for the wrist movement challenged at a fair price. I'd buy it again and recommend it highly. ... show more

  • Helps with bad wrists
Style: PC Layout
I screwed up my wrists doing data entry over twenty years ago. Lately, even the old once piece ergonomic keyboard wasn't doing the trick. This style was recommended by my boss (his wife uses this style). It's pricey but it beats wrist braces and pain pills. It takes a little getting used to (I keep accidentally pressing the 'a' key) but it's not a bad learning curve. It's only been about a week and my wrists are much happier. The padded rest is probably going to be the weak spot, it's rather thin and I worry about the quality of the adhesive holding on. Time will tell on that and it should be fairly easy to replace if necessary. ... show more
