Description

As the market leader in computer ergonomics, Kinesis has been designing and building premium-grade ergonomic keyboards for more than 25 years. The new Advantage2 features our patented Contoured keyboard design and low-force mechanical key switches to address the major risk factors associated with keyboarding for maximum comfort. With the all-new SmartSet Engine, the Advantage2 features powerful programming tools designed to let you customize the keyboard to boost your productivity. The Advantage2 is designed to be plug-and-play on all major operating systems including Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome. Custom settings and layouts are saved directly to the keyboard so you can move the Advantage2 from machine to machine with ease. Ergonomic design that is proven to increase your comfort Concave Key Wells and Thumb Keys Hands and fingers are placed in a natural, relaxed position to shorten key-reach and reduce over-extension. Use stronger thumbs rather than weaker pinkies to access heavily used keys like Space, Backspace, and Enter. 20 Degree Tenting and Compact Design Tenting elevates the thumb side of the hand to reduce forearm pronation caused by flat keyboards. Tenkeyless layout with embedded keypad results in a smaller footprint for closer mouse placement. Fixed Split and Vertical Keys Hands are positioned at shoulder-width to keep wrists straight and reduce ulnar deviation. Orthogonal key arrangement mirrors the natural motion of your fingers to increase speed and comfort. Palm Supports and Sculpted Home Row Integrated palm supports and cushioned palm pads promote neutral wrist position reducing harmful wrist extension. Find the home row without taking your eyes off the screen with sculpted home row keycaps. • Beware buying this on Amazon!!
Color: Black top case, Cherry MX "Silent" Red S...
There are two problems with this product. The first is that for my particular typing pain it was completely ineffective and actually quite painful. I have pain in my wrist and the layout of this keyboard exacerbated it because of the way your hands rest on the lip with the keys below. That would have been fine if I could have returned this quite expensive item but both Spacebound and Amazon refused to accept the return or cover the purchase with the Amazon guarantee. I spent almost a month trying to get a refund done and was consistently met with little to no information and when I called Spacebound, they were quite rude and unhelpful. Definitely avoid purchasing this through spacebound. Go straight to the manufacturer. ... show more

  • This is a fantastic upgrade to the Advantage1 keyboard.
Color: Black top case, Cherry MX Brown Switches...
I am a computer programmer and spend all day with a keyboard and mouse. Many years ago I started to experience RSI symptoms which caused me two look into keyboards more closely. Most keyboards that come with computers are junk. After a few months, while you can press keys easily with direct up and down motion, if you try to press a key from an oblique angle it can be very stiff. The keys you reach to press with your outer fingers are the worst since you are often coming at them from an angle. If you don't pay attention, you will find yourself slamming keys with your pinkie finger -- hello RSI. This keyboard truly made my RSI symptoms go away. The combination of the conjured key wells (which reduce oblique key pressing and reaching), and the light weight key springs is wonderful. I've seen similar results with my coworkers who switched. This version 2 keyboard has upgraded internals. Previous issues with the modifier keys being occasionally stuck down on Macs are gone completely. I had trouble remapping keys initially, but Kinesis phone support was helpful and corrected the issue (which affected some of the initial batch of these keyboards). I love it. Tips: - Don't be afraid to remap keys. For example, I moved Esc to Caps Lock, and Command to End. Be creative and try to place useful keys under strong fingers or thumbs. - Take a good look at your mouse too. If you have bad RSI, try switching mice or use a trackball. Avoid using the mouse the scroll wheel; it's hard on your middle finger. I installed a utility that scrolls when I move the mouse pointer and hold down the Ctrl key. - Try to learn the Dvorak layout. It's probably not better, or faster, but you will type very slowly while learning and this will give your hands time to heal :) Seriously, it does reduce reaching for keys since it puts common letters under your powerful center row fingers. Price: If you are a working professional, there is no excuse not to work with the best tools. And if you are experiencing RSI symptoms, which threaten your ability to work, you are a fool if you let the steep price stop you. ... show more

  • For sale: world's least user-friendly keyboard
Color: Black top case, Cherry MX Brown Switches...
I'm a developer and writer, so I'm on a keyboard all the time. My fingers were getting strained, and I was worried RSI would sideline me in the long run. I heard good things about the Advantage 2, so I ordered one. My initial impression was that if felt really cheap. The plastic seemed like it would break with a single drop, and the keys are annoyingly clacky. I work from home, but if you work in an office, this will drive your co-workers NUTS. Out of the box, it didn't work with my Mac, so I turned to the usual manual. Ugh. It's a slog. The website had a quick start guide, which was more useful. I knew the keyboard would be different, and I was willing to give it some time. However, what I was NOT willing to do was spend hours just getting the thing to type properly. The program shortcuts are an absolute pain in the ass, and they didn't work half the time. Some keys wouldn't change—the shift key was stuck on "colon." They have a "SmartSet App," which looked easier than doing a bunch of function combos on the keyboard, but it's only for PC. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You're going to make a $350 keyboard and not bother to make a version of the app for Mac? Overall, I liked the softer feeling of the keys, but you just get the sense that Kenesis doesn't care at all about improving the keyboard—it looks and functions like it hasn't been upgraded since 1984. Of course, they don't have to bother improving it, because they have no competition. I'm going back to my Microsoft Surface, which has fewer functions and harder keys...but whatever minor hand strain I get will be nothing compared to the headaches I would incur if I kept using the Advantage. ... show more

  • The only keyboard I can use without hurting my hands/wrists
Color: Black top case, Cherry MX "Silent" Red S...
I honestly don't understand all these negative reviews. I've tried > 10 ergo keyboards and this is the ONLY kind of keyboard that I can use without hurting my hands and wrists. One review was complaining that the person's hands actually hurt because they were resting on the edge of the kb?? I dunno how this person is typing. I love resting my wrists resting on the kb so I don't have prop them up which easily introduces pain. I wonder if that person was trying to lift their wrists even more or something?? And the kb does not feel cheap at all. It looks and feels very well constructed. And yes for a mechanical kb this the quietest ever. I've already purchase this model 3 times and before that for 10 years I only owned older models of Kinesis keyboards. Are they expensive? Sure. Who would've thought you'd spend > $300 on one kb? Are they worth it? You bet. ... show more
