The material does really well in the sun. It does not get too hot. The kids are not bothered by them also. They will just leave them on the whole time. They also love the cute whistle that's attached to it. It works great as well. They can float in the big pool safely while they get the hang of learning to swim. When they jump in the pool it brings them right back up to the top so they aren't afraid to jump anymore! I also love the piece that goes between their legs. This is a nice vest. My granddaughter is 21 months and it was a little big and would ride up and choke her in the pool. Not the vests fault. My granddaughter is just a little on the small size.
