This seems well made and I think it will last. I wish it was a tad shorter for my 7 year old, but she's below average height and I think next year it'll fit her better, and she'll be able to grow with it until she's ready for an adult paddle.

Ordered this for the color... Safety Orange. On open water things can go wrong quickly. A vibrant orange signals for help that can be seen from a distance, it signals jet skiers and motor boaters they are approaching too close. If you fall in and get separated from your paddle it is EASY to spot and retrieve. I grew up boating I was taught safety and every year it was ingrained over and again. I am teaching my nieces and nephews as I was. This paddle is perfect because of the color. It is a quality paddle, well made, adjust easily, light, they have no problem using it or retrieving and can hold it above their head waving it while blowing their whistle. I have them close their eyes, I gently spin the Sup tell them to throw the paddle and tip the board. They have to get back on the board and frog paddle to retrieve their paddle. They said the orange is easy to find but have trouble finding the black paddle. If you want to add a layer of safety do not hesitate order this paddle. I have been in a couple dangerous situations where boaters and jet skiers weren't paying attention my orange paddle signaled them. Paddling on the river hunters didn't see me and started shooting I waved the paddle in the air while blowing my whistle and never heard another shot. It was a panic moment for me and I'm sure it was for them too since they shot in my direction from too close. Bright orange is Safety Orange. It is a necessary safety item in my honest opinion.

My four year old goes paddle boarding with me and always wants to paddle. She has no trouble standing up and asking to paddle. I always worry she will drop the paddle. So this is a great way for her to have her own paddle which is also a better size for her. It has a good amount of shape to it so it has some paddling power. It comes apart into three pieces though one is the adjustable handle so it can store in two pieces. It does float for a bit when dropping in the water but we never waited to see if it would sink.
