Bought this as a white elephant gift since we have a 7 year old in the family and try to include her in the exchange. She brought this over on a cold winter day and it was so much fun! I love that there are ideas/examples of what to create on the shells on the outside of the box. We had so much fun thinking up how we wanted to decorate them. It says they are real shells but I think they are molded from clay-I could be wrong but there was thin, overhanging edges at the bottom of some of the larger shells. We decorated these to take to the cemetery and place on various headstones. These are water color paints so you'll need to spray with a clear coat if you plan on exposing to the elements. So many cute ideas - would be perfect for a wind chime etc. ... show more

Updating my review to 3 stars due to great customer service, they reached out to me very quickly regarding my review to make things right. I would give them another chance, maybe I received a bad batch. I didn’t expect them to reach out and was very happily surprised. Unfortunately very disappointed with this set. All of the modeling clay was completely dried and brittle when opening the package. The paint was also incredibly difficult to open and spilled upon opening. This was such a fun surprise for my 10yr old daughter on the beach! When she needed a break from the water, she painted the shells and then laid them in the sun to dry! Such a hit! Plus she could keep painting other shells and rocks she found on the beach. If I had one complaint, it would be that there should be more paint included! ... show more
