This is a pretty little desk and perfect size for my 5 year old. It was surprisingly easy to assemble, took us about 2 hours but we took our time. The pieces were all labeled clearly, and the pack of screws/nuts/etc was clearly labeled and well organized. There were extra parts included in this pack but we did not need any extra parts. All of the desk parts were in good condition after shipping, no splits, cracks, or defects. The assembly instructions were good and everything was in the right order (I have put together similar types of furniture before and had the experience in the past where the instructions were not in the right order and we missed a key step which was not the case with this desk). It was surprisingly sturdy once constructed. The storage areas on the left are cabinets, not drawers, but the cabinet doors are nice quality and work better than I anticipated. The center drawer went together more easily than I expected. Overall I am really pleased with this desk for the price. The chair seems sturdy and we have had no issues yet with the chair (other reviews/pictures showed broken chairs). The hardware used to put on the chair legs seem wide enough and long enough to appropriately secure the legs to the chair. ... show more

Second Review: I received the replacement KidKraft Desk with Chair. It arrived in great condition. The new chair sits perfectly on the floor. My Granddaughter loves it and is perfect for her. One caution to new buyers is to manually and very gently attach the screw on the underside of the white table top. If forced in with a screw gun, it may penetrate the table top. I mention this because I’ve read in one of the reviews that this was an issue. Overall, however, I’m very pleased with this item. It is beautifully designed and functional. Original Review: I love this KidKraft Desk with Chair; however I did have issues which necessitated requesting a replacement, as follows: (1) 10 missing screws on screws labeled “S”. The instruction brochure stated there should be 20 screws. Only 10 screws were provided. (I would have rectified this myself if this were the only issue). (2) One chair leg a flaw with the painting where the lavender paint has rubbed off. (I also could have accepted this as a minor issue and lived with this imperfection.) (3) One chair leg is shorter than the other three legs which makes the chair very wobbly. (This is what prompted me to request a replacement.) I am excited about getting the replacement. I absolutely love this desk. I first bought this in white for my son and he and my daughter loved it so much, that I purchased this again in purple for her. The assembly is a little timely, but easy enough. The directions are easy to follow and everything is put together sturdily. The only issue I have with this desk is that it arrived with some scuffs and minor damage to some wood pieces (this was not the case with the first desk I ordered). However, this is a very nice desk, especially if it arrives unstuffed. My kids are super excited about their desks and have organized them to meet their personal needs. I recently decided to create a study area under my little girl’s loft bed so she could have a dedicated space for virtual learning in the fall. My husband and I started searching for desks that would fit this space and this was the only desk that fit the space, while also offering a stylish design and drawers / cabinets to place her paperwork and computer. After reading the reviews on this desk, I was very hesitant to purchase it. The photos were littered with broken chairs, size issues, etc. I didn’t want to buy a piece of junk and there weren’t many people cheering this desk on. We finally decided that we could just return it if it were junk, but give it a try since it met all our criteria. I want to say that I was downright angry at the negatives said about this desk once it was assembled. It is sturdy, has ample storage space and a great design. I nearly missed out on the perfect purchase if I hadn’t taken the risk and bought it. My daughter is seven (and she’s tall for her age). This desk fits her perfectly. It isn’t just for tiny toddlers. Yes, it is made of pressed wood. I’m traditionally a fan of investing in real wood, but this desk still looks sharp without spending $500 - $1000 more to get a real wood desk for a child. (Yes, we did price similar desks at mid to high-end retail stores. That was the price jump in case you need “real wood.”) My daughter isn’t CEO of a company (yet) and doesn’t need luxury furniture to impress clients. She needed a cute desk that was sturdy and allowed her to store her school work and study without distraction. This desk won hands down. The desk was delivered yesterday. My hubby put it together rather quickly. Nothing came damaged. The only problem during putting it together was the chair, but we were able to fix it. I will still keep my eye on the chair. My 7 year old loves it! It’s a perfect size desk for her and i love that it’s not big and bulky. We were able to stick it into a corner and it fit perfectly. I am satisfied with the desks dm chair set overall. I would recommend it. Besides it’s hard to find desk anywhere since a lot of kids will be doing virtual learning. UPDATE!! 2nd day of school and the chair broke! Uhhm literally the second day of using this chair! 2 years later: The desk is still in good condition, we were able to fix the chair with some wood glue it held up for a while, it broke some time earlier this year and couldn’t be fixed again. Ignore this overpriced, poorly produced pile of garbage. Go to your local Walmart/Target and get something similar, but much better for half the price (or anything else on Amazon). Spent hours fighting this improperly constructed nightmare. It was missing so many construction parts I don't think the parts package was even the proper one for this unit. I've put together large dressers, multimedia stands, shelving and have never had an experience as frustrating as this. For example (just one of many through this process) one of the drawer sliders was attached to the wrong side (and upside down) to the second of the cabinet sides. Nothing about the drawer construction matched the instructions, it literally is a 4-part affair, this should've taken maybe a minute to construct but NO. After unscrewing the slider, carefully measuring and reattaching to the proper side and direction for the top drawer, I realized that the entire setup was inverted and would be impossible to attach to the base with any of the included hardware. None of the screws were the right size, the locking pieces didn't fit ANY of the pre-drilled slots, what an absolute mess. The directions were quite clear and easy to understand - this thing was just cursed from the second it was produced. As I've mentioned, I've built my home's furniture, even my home gym's pull-down/pully machines, smith machine, etc, and those came in numerous huge boxes with build instructions as thick as a phone book - this should've been a literal walk in the park comparatively. Definitely not worth going to the hardware store, buying proper sized screws and nails to jury rig this hunk of plyboard junk. I saw most reviews were positive and I thought it would be a nice surprise for my little one now that he's in school and could use a proper desk for homework, art, etc. I was very wrong. I purchased this at half price, which in itself was a rip-off - don't even consider this thing at full price. I could send parts back, fight through the process, but the fit and finish is pretty poor as is, so I'll chalk this up to an expensive learning experience. I guess the little chair it came with was sturdy and cute. There's your 1-star KidCraft. I'd give it 0 stars if that was possible. Proceed purchasing this with caution! ... show more

This desk is great for my 6 yr old and I added 3” furniture risers so that it may last a bit longer and give her a bit more space for her legs. It is not wood, but particle board, so the full price is a bit pricey for the desk (I bought ours from Warehouse Deals -Used: Like New). So for the price I paid.. about $82.00…. think it is well worth it. It is nice once put together - tip: do not use power tools on this, as it would be easy to over screw and crack the parts. My older daughter and I put it together in a couple hours. You will definitely need a partner to help assemble this, a lot of patience, and it will turn out the way it is supposed to. We made sure to go slowly and carefully line up all the parts correctly so that we didn’t get any cracks in the particle board. Hopefully it is sturdy enough to last a couple years, which is what I wanted, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed on that. Nice surprise: the white board on the desk is magnetic! Great for my daughters magnetic dry eraser!! Good amount of surface area for virtual on-line school to fit laptop and write in a notebook at the same time and not feel too crowded. Good storage space as well, with a nice roll out accessory drawer and 2 decent size cubby type cabinets. Overall very happy with this purchase, and my daughter Loves her new desk so much.. she cannot wait to go to school tomorrow! Win-win!! Well… 10/28/21… My daughter has not had this desk and chair for very long.. not even a month, and the chair broke in half. Granted, my youngest daughter is a bruiser, and she does not use her things lightly, so even though I am not very surprised, I Am VERY Disappointed!! Even with paying the “Used Like New” price, this should have lasted much longer. I don’t even know if this is returnable as it is furniture that we have already assembled. Super bummed… the desk seems to be okay for now… so keeping my fingers crossed!!! ... show more
