This is a pretty little desk and perfect size for my 5 year old. It was surprisingly easy to assemble, took us about 2 hours but we took our time. The pieces were all labeled clearly, and the pack of screws/nuts/etc was clearly labeled and well organized. There were extra parts included in this pack but we did not need any extra parts. All of the desk parts were in good condition after shipping, no splits, cracks, or defects. The assembly instructions were good and everything was in the right order (I have put together similar types of furniture before and had the experience in the past where the instructions were not in the right order and we missed a key step which was not the case with this desk). It was surprisingly sturdy once constructed. The storage areas on the left are cabinets, not drawers, but the cabinet doors are nice quality and work better than I anticipated. The center drawer went together more easily than I expected. Overall I am really pleased with this desk for the price. The chair seems sturdy and we have had no issues yet with the chair (other reviews/pictures showed broken chairs). The hardware used to put on the chair legs seem wide enough and long enough to appropriately secure the legs to the chair. ... show more

Okay so I’ve read all of the reviews and I provided feedback directly to Kidcraft manufacturing. I bought this desk for my daughter and she loves it. After reading the reviews I made two engineering changes and learned a valuable piece of information I need to share you’ll be happy with this product. First many of the negative reviews were about the chair falling apart. I see why this can happen. When assembling the chair seat to the back leg assembly you will screw to long screws connecting the two pieces. I’ve included two pictures. There is still a space by design between the back leg assembly and the chair top. If you tighten too much you can break the wood horizontal support on the chair top assembly. An easy way to prevent that is to add 1/4” thick grommets or washers between the gap. You could also use a wood shim but it’s not as nice. This way when you tighten the screws you don’t over stress the wood support. Do this and your chair will be solid and will not break apart. I also use wood glue when assembling the pieces. The second piece of important information is when assembling the screws referred to by the letter “T”. These are the screws that connect the table top to the base. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. if you do you’ll hear a crack as the screw snaps through the surface laminate and you will have 6 bumps on the tabletop. What I would do is put an adhesive like locktite on the screw threads and hand tighten the screws into the desktop. So so so important, trust me. This will keep the screws tight while not destroying the table top. I hope this helps and I think you’ll be happy overall with the desk. ... show more

This was relatively easy and straightforward to put together. KidKraft does better with instructions/steps than most, but it's still about an hour and half of assembly here. The end product looks nice, is sturdy, and is something I'd recommend for 4-7year olds. Our 6y/o is in love, and has def spent more time doing homework or craft related tasks since she got her desk. She takes pride in keeping it clean and up to date. Our only issue was the chair was off balance. KidKraft has a straightforward and free part replacement program which was great. But now we have to wait for that piece, any day now. Overall we're happy with the price, quality, and look. For those reasons we're in! ... show more

It’s been a I’m month we have got this item for my son remote learning. And it’s started getting apart. The legs of the table are starting to break. I wish I could disassemble the table and return. This table was hard to assemble b/c of the table quality. The wood of the table is very very poor. The only good thing about this table is , it has enough storage space for books and stationary item . This table is good for age 6+. So if you are looking for table which can run for long period, then Don’t purchase this product. This won’t last for even a year. I’m very disappointed with this table . And it’s also expensive for such a small table. ... show more

Don't get fooled by the 4 star rating, I did. If I could, I would give it no starts at all. Box made it home perfectly fine, no damage. I started unpackaging and almost every piece is damaged/chipped and, many of them, with a clumsy paintjob which means the manufacturer knows about the quality issues and still ships the product. I'm even wondering if I received a refurbished piece but was charged as new. The assembly is fairly simple, any person who has built some furniture before can do it. 1/3rd into the assembly you will realize that is smaller than advertised. I doubt it will be useful for a kid older than 10yo. I kept pulling parts out of the box and kept seeing chipped-repaired parts, in some cases not even repaired. At that point, I started taking pictures of every part that was damaged, took many of them, I'm only uploading a few. Kept putting it together hoping that the chipped parts wouldn't be that visible from the outside, bad news, they are. I made it to the the final assembly: the drawer. At that point I had already accepted the poor paint job, I thought it would be useful to survive the covid-caused homeschooling and that would be it. I finished building the drawer and when put it in rails, it didn't fit! It was bumping against the top board. The issue became functional, not only aesthetic. In summary, is a smaller-than-advertised-poorly-painted-desk with a drawer that doesn't fit. I'm returning it without disassembling it. Don't buy it, trust me on this one.
