Description

The Kidde Smart Carbon Monoxide Detector & Indoor Air Quality Monitor uses electrochemical sensor technology to detect poisonous CO gas in your home and alert you by sounding an 85-decibel alarm with a voice alert announcing "Warning! Carbon Monoxide!". The Kidde carbon monoxide alarm plugs into a standard, 120V AC power outlet and provides battery backup in the event of a power failure. The lithium battery backup lasts the full 10-year life of the alarm, so you'll have the benefit of never having to replace a battery. Up-to- date, real-time notifications are provided through the Kidde app, so your family & friends - even the pet sitter - can monitor your home's air quality & receive alerts to CO presence, high humidity levels that can lead to mold, unexpected high or low temperatures, or Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs). Setup is easy: simply download the Kidde app, scan the QR code at the back of the CO alarm, & plug the unit into your wall outlet. You can also use voice commands to check the connection & status of carbon monoxide or air quality by pairing it with your Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and select iPhone & Android smart devices. A digital display screen on the plug-in carbon monoxide alarm provides real-time information on the status of indoor air quality and carbon monoxide levels. Two buttons are provided for easy accessibility: the Test-Hush temporarily silences nuisance alarms, tests if the unit is operating properly, and silences a low battery or end-of-life chirp (up to 24 hours at a time for a maximum of 7 days), while the Peak Level Memory Button records the highest CO level reached since the button was last pressed. Install a smoke detector on each level of your home and inside and outside each bedroom. UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty (not a battery performance claim).

  • Works well and easy to install
I made the hard-to-believe mistake of leaving my car on in the garage and it spooked me so much, that I decided to install a CO2 detector that can alert me if my garage fills with high levels of exhaust fumes. Fortunately, it hasn't gone off since I installed it and I hope that it never will (I'm assuming it works). Believe me, it's not hard to forget to turn off your car, especially with button type ignitions and quiet idling. The detector also senses high temperatures, which I suppose could be useful, but in my case, I live in Florida, so my garage is always hot. ... show more

  • Peace of Mind
After installing this upstairs, we discovered that our generator was pushing CO2 into the house. The old sensor did not go off. This one not only has an audible alert, it also pings my mobile phone, which allowed me to quickly ventilate and take care of the situation. I'll be adding more of these in different areas of the house. ... show more

  • So so
Connected to my wifi just fine. Firmware update went smoothly. Integration with Google home was easy. Due to having a low battery warning I have to ship this back. I let it charge for hours and that didn't help. Calibration should not take days. I have awair sensor and nest smoke/co detector for comparison. I wish there was a model without the battery and calibration didn't take so long. If It came with a good battery I would have pushed it to a 4. I'm trying to be fair with a 3. ... show more

  • Nuisance to own this monitor
The monitor goes through a BS "calibration" period for several days, but it doesnt really calibrate temperature, humidity, voc's or CO. The temperature and humidity never agreed with any other sensors and you cant change it. Sends nuisance alarms for humidity and vocs. Sending it back. junk.

  • Unusually easy to set up. Wish it didn't mandate entering your address.
This is a combination carbon monoxide / "air quality" monitor from Kidde, a brand best known for fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. This is my first smart product from them and I was genuinely shocked at how good their app is. Setup was one of the most clearly guided and well thought out home automation setup experiences I've ever seen, and I've set up a _lot_ of gadgets. The wizard was clear and detailed, it called out common gotchas, and the pairing is kicked off by a QR code that's on both the product itself and the Getting Started guide. Everything about the process was lovely, except the alarm surprising me by sounding the second I plugged it into the wall; that really should happen later as part of a self-test during installation, I think. Well, almost everything was lovely. I was pretty put off by the mandatory step where I was required to enter my home address to continue with no option to skip. Maybe I'm weird, but I try really hard to not have my physical address linked to home automation gear that publishes whether I'm home or away to a cloud service - if a given service gets hacked, I don't want it to be immediately apparent to an attacker which home the device that's reporting in belongs to. I ended up giving the service a bogus address and parking the mandatory location pushpin somewhere out in the Pacific Ocean, and then it let me complete setup normally. Frustrating. That small detail aside, the detector is working like a charm. In addition to carbon monoxide, it monitors temperature, humidity and volatile organic compounds. Living in an area that's frequently affected by wildfire, indoor air quality actually means particles to me, so I was surprised to learn this detector doesn't have a sensor that monitors that metric (and it therefore won't be helpful during wildfire season). But I do appreciate the extra information that is here. You can set up alerts for the air quality metrics, but you don't get a lot of control over them - you can only be alerted by temperature if it's below 48 degrees or above 92. That's a bummer because I would have liked to pick up a second one of these to monitor the basement temperature of a vacation home that's at risk of pipes freezing if a heater gets accidentally turned off - but I want it to alert at a different threshold than 48 degrees. Maybe Kidde can add that functionality in a future version of the app, because this would be a much more elegant solution than most other temperature sensors I've encountered. It sounds like I have a lot of quibbles, but those were the only negative things I encountered. Everything else about this is great: the physical design is fine, I liked that you can rotate the blades to install it as horizontal or vertical in your outlet, and navigating the app is straightforward. A family friend once was sickened by a carbon monoxide leak in his home, and ever since he's implored all of us to take having a detector seriously. This product gives me ten years of peace of mind, plus a slate of additional home monitoring tools that are a nice bonus feature. I'm a fan! ... show more

Personally recommend that every household have one of these in their home whether your elderly, have children, ect...comes equipped with a backup battery so no worries if the electricity goes out, it even is wi-fi enabled. This device will alert you if it detects carbon monoxide or even if the air quality is dangerous or unhealthy an its voice alarm with let you know what was detected. This life saving device is so easy to install all you have to do is download the app, follow instructions in app, an p!ug in the device to an electrical outlet.
