A nice option alongside my normal flavor

I love a good cup of Joe. I've tried so many brands and flavors over the years that it's become a daunting task to get through all the garbage out there. "Best" this, and "Most Awesome" that. Blah! Kicking Horse Coffee, regardless of your flavor of choice, has been a top notch brand for me every single time. While I have not enjoyed every flavor I've tried from them (which will never happen for anybody), the profiles that match my likes have always been fantastic. I have been a huge fan of the "Kick Ass" flavor for quite some time, but saw this "Grizzly Claw" and decided to give it a try this time. It is very different in flavor, almost like a hot cocoa/coffee blend. I found immediately on my first cup that I cannot use a flavored cream with it. It just doesn't balance out correctly. I can happily drink it straight, and mixing in a little half-n-half also works very well. It won't be my every day drinker, but having variety is what I like anyways and it will get selected often. I just love this company for a lot of reasons, and as my other reviews on their other flavors have shown I only gripe about the randomly inflated pricing at times. I order it one day it's one price, then two weeks later I re-order it and it's 50% more in price. Then another 2 weeks and it's 10% less than before. It's a strange practice to see such differences, but perhaps I just need to subscribe and lock it in. Anyway, I don't care if it's this flavor or any of their other flavors, give them a try if you haven't already. They're great. Oh, almost forgot. Do NOT drink this in the evening unless you want to stay up. I made that mistake my first night with it and was up until 5am. It's got some "kick" to it :)

Something remarkable about the roasting. It's a blend. But truly "deep". Never bitter.

It is also fair trade, 100% organic, and Kosher. I have zero to complain or criticize about this coffee. I fell in love. Allegedly the famous big band leader Benny Goodman slept with his clarinet -- I'm feeling similarity with this coffee. I don't have a sense about the high-nose hints "of chocolate", and it is the opposite of 'truckstop coffee'. It is not 'flavored', but boldly stays a coffee on its own. Has a deep roasting like no other I've had -- and I've been drinking coffee for 55 years, starting in Cajun French country of south Louisiana where coffee is king. My wife and I stayed at a private house bed & breakfast in Victoria BC in April of 2018. There was a bag of the KickAss blend sitting for us on the tray in our room. Ours. It was a welcome gift. Roasted and bagged in the small town Invermere in the Canadian Rockies. We brewed some that afternoon and began looking for it anywhere life carried us. Why after drinking coffee for 50+ years this one caught me, I can't say, but my wife too -- who is from Guatemala where coffee is a natural environment -- knows Kicking Horse is different. I've only hopped briefly between other brands as a matter of life's grocery stores, but finally saw Kicking Horse was available in Amazon. The price range can be wild, (7.99 to 12.99) in the markets, but -- at any price, I'd give up wine for this coffee if I had to choose. Remember, all coffee brands make claims. I don't know the simple mystery of why Kicking Horse is so delicious and is what coffee should taste like, but I am not surprised Lavazza of Italy bought 80% interest "because coffee sales in Europe were stagnating". And they go to THIS company? Think on that.

Good Taste!

This my absolute favorite from Kicking Horse. The size is not that big. You might get 3-4 pots of coffee out of it. The taste is fresh and the caffeine is more than enough to get you going. The grounds are dark and strong. One of my favorites.

Great Flavor but Not For French Press

I really love this coffee, it is rich, dark, aromatic, smooth and chocolaty. The coffee itself is a five star - this grind was the problem for me. The issue is that the description noted it was good for French Press (as well as other coffee prep. options). It was listed as medium - fine. I previously ordered this coffee in "whole bean" which was great until my grinder gave out so I ordered the ground for simplicity. I used it in my french press with 2 metal screen filters -there was a lot of sediment and muck in my cup. Then I tried the 2 screens and a paper coffee filter I cut to size - less muck but still plenty. Then I did the 2 screens & paper filter then I poured the coffee through another coffee filter, this worked fairly well but not a process I want to live with forever. Once again - This is wonderful coffee just not with a french press.
