  • After You've Tried Other Solutions, TRY THIS!!!
The Saturday morning started early and peaceful... Birds chirping, my tea mix just right, chilling on the net reads. Then the wife woke up and the addiction machine broke. I was pulled into panic mode and it was not pretty. Tried all the usual methods to clean the Keurig 2.0 coffee nozzle and interface. Used the standard hotwater cycle, trickle trickle ... Ran another water cycle and got half a trickle, then a warm water vinegar solution to get what I would estimate at 7.1 oz. The future was looking bright. I then tested the plastic counter space hog, I mean Keurig, with a K-cup using a flavor that nobody in the family seems to care about or would even miss.... No joy! @#%%. Took out the K-cup holder inset apparatus and soaked in warm water soap solution and brushed nozzles attached below the handle with multiple brush types and cotton swabs. Employed magnifying glasses, bright lights, precision tools... Dribble dribble ... error code .... lift handle ... power off and on... retry… continue to step 2. It felt like the early stages of an infinite loop. I wanted to go back to bed and wake up the next day, but the coffee catastrophe prevent that simple opportunity. My tea was getting cold. Upon every test phase to save the $200+ consumer appliance, it was getting closer to the trash can rather than remaining in the kitchen. During my desperate attempt to save this machine and more importantly MY WIFE, she was already searching the web for newer models at Target (Amazon didn't have 1 hour delivery on Keurigs in our area) Did I mention we were in crisis mode? I asked, even pleaded, that we could buy this Orange doohickie nozzle cleaner thing for around $5 bucks and it could be here in a few days. The addiction said NO!!!! While she bought a new Keurig version soon after the local Target store opened, I still went ahead and acquired this Orange Needle Cleaning Tool. After it came I set up the subject Keurig 2.0, filled it with water, plugged it in and went through the instructions of the needle cleaner. (Essentially up and down 5 times with the handle to have the nozzle dip into the water that is contained by the silicon globe contained in the orange needle cleaner housing.) Yeah it really is that simple, no joke! I used hot water. It WORKED! Although on the day of the crises it would have been substantially more rewarding, shelling out $100+ for a newer Keurig model subdued the excitement. Concerned that I was getting a false positive, I ran more 8 oz water cycles and each one worked. I tried K-Cups and they worked. It CONTINUED TO WORK... Now what do I do with a working Keurig that is effectively exorbitant. Off to goodwill, I guess... NOTE: As I myself don't drink coffee but do drink excessive amounts of tea using bags and a microwave, I personally only use the Keurig for others. It appears that the handle open / close process is designed, engineered and linked to K-Cups being 1- use only containers. If you ever try using one K-Cup more than once, it appears that some valve near the top of the needle allows coffee grinds to enter that region of the needle. Using the cups one time has a one way flow direction on the water. Reusing the cups allows the grinds to backflow through a second hole at the top of the K-cup and flow to parts of the needle that can plug it up or obstruct it. This process can occur overtime from normal use but would be greatly accelerated with multiple trips on the same K-cup. What I disliked about the Keurig Needle Cleaning Tool is that I didn't have it in advance before I needed it and before the wife bought a replacement.... For any guys out there that may be reading this and thinking "does the wife wear the jeans in this family", let me be clear: coffee is her addiction and she is my addiction... you do the math! ... show more

  • LEARN FROM MY ERROR! Watch Videos on how to use first!!!
This is probably a great item and probably does the job... but it arrived in very flexible packaging so that the inner clear bulb wasn't seated correctly and I did not know that. The instructions that came with it mentioned to make sure the pod is inserted correctly, but never mentioned the inner bulb. So, I inserted it in the machine and could never get the handle to go back up again. I prodded it and poked it and googled a solution. (I thought I had seen someone in the comments mention getting it stuck in their Keurig, but I could never find that comment again.) Next step, I read the instructions again that gave a link for support. That link just went to an error message. Then I found the Keurig website which offered no help for this problem. I tried their online chat for an answer, but no matter how I worded it, no answers came up. Then I called Keurig. The person I talked to had no idea of how to get the pod out. His only advise was that my discontinued machine was obviously broken, but he could offer me 20% off a new machine (Big deal! Their website landing page offers 15% off, so that extra 5% is a real reward for a 12+ year customer). I told him I had a bit of wiggle room with the handle, so should I try to force it open? He said no, as I may break it. I told him if he was telling me it was already broken, what did I have to lose? He tried to entice me with the 20% but I told him I would think about it. After spending another day researching new Keurigs, I went at my Keurig with a flashlight and some chopsticks. I turned it on it's side and prodded it enough to pull the clear bulb down under the needle and out popped the pod! Hopefully my Keurig will work fine now, but I don't know if I am brave enough to try the maintenance accessory again! ... show more

  • Works Quite Well
Used it with my previous Keurig and it cleaned the lines out very well. Got a new Keurig and assumed I need it but it didn't come with one so I ordered this. Well it does not fit the new machine the instructions say to use the end if a paperclip. It worked but defintely didn't like poking around in this multi-stream Keurig for fear of damaging it. Progress ? ... show more

  • Glad Keurig has joined the replacement market
Availability of this unit made me buy a new Keurig coffee maker. I had previously stopped using them because of the fact that I couldn’t use my own coffee. I also hate filling the landfill with their pods every day. This is a good solution.

  • Orange part won't fit K Elite model, but...
When I ordered this tool, I wasn't sure this was going to fit my Keurig K Elite and I was right, the orange part did not fit the same grooves where the pod holder goes, BUT... I decided to improvise. I removed the clear rubber resevoir from the orange frame, placed a plastic bottle cap in the pod holder then put the resevoir on top of the bottle cap so that the top of the resevoir was flush with the top of the pod holder then lowered the handle and pressed the 10 oz button and voilà! the grinds came out! I repeated the process 4 or 5 times until no grinds appeared. I've had my K Elite for about 2 years, I love it, I only use purified water to brew and this was the first time I was performing a complete clean including descaling, which I don't think there was much to descale, and cleaned the needle, pod holder, water tank, etc. This tool was only about $5, so I tossed the orange thing and kept the rubber part and will use it again in the future. ... show more

  • It works!
Just add water and place it in your machine. Pump the handle a few times and you will see some coffee residue floating around inside the tool. So far, that's all it takes to clean out a clogged Keurig. Pretty simple.

  • Works!
Cleans coffee grounds out of the needle easily when it gets plugged. Previously, was using thin wire which was not the easiest method. Happy with purchase!
