Seems sturdy enough, but I bought it for a Pro 9 and had to return it. It’s not the same size as the 8. Dumb Microsoft, they keep changing these by a millimeter here and there just so nothing can be reused.

This is a great case, very sturdy. Works with a keyboard - allows magnetic connection to keep it closed plus has a little strap at the top for extra security. My main issue is that the case makes it hard for the power cord to attach properly - the magnet feels like it's connected but sometimes it's rotated and not actually charging. The pen strap is nice - the clip on the end of the string attaches to my Bamboo pen and it also fits in the holder. It has a nice thick ridge around the edges of the screen, except for at the bottom where a keyboard can be attached. This doesn't include anything to cover the screen, but most cases for this device don't have that. ... show more

I love this case, I have used Kensington on all of my Surfaces. The slot and lanyard does not fit my new slim style stylus that came with my surface! So the storage area is a waste of space and the lanyard is useless. Otherwise, it is the case of my choice.

I like the tablet is protected properly with this case. There is a thin fragile strip located by the zone where the keyboard is attached; however, after some time of having the tablet in your hands, using the stylus or just reading, you can feel the pain of not having enough support for the fingers to hold the case firmly. This is a common problem I have suffered with all cases I have had. The rubber band located by the back side of the case helps in some way but its location is not ergonomic. ... show more

While I haven't dropped the tablet yet, I do appreciate the case. It works very well, with very few minor complaints. I liked how the design lets you use the sturdy hinge that is already on the hinge The little corner strap that keeps the keyboard in place works surprisingly well so far. Only minor complaints would be the pull out for the pen doesn't seem to sink in all the way, and the hand strap is a little small. ... show more

This time around on surface devices sp8 the accessories have been downright abysmal. Then there this case, the one case that works well, has a pen holder, not flimsy and junky, has a hand strap without causing the device to wobble around when laid flat, and still allows for complete access to kickstand and roomy cutouts for ports. someone put actual thought into this. only thing I would change is that hard plastic bottom bracket, it bows and flexes a little, and would straighten with a magnetic keyboard in place, which I don't want. maybe some metal reinforcement? or possible a magnetic cover non-keyboard version would be even better. Nothing exists like that for sp8 that I can find ... show more

Color: Surface Pro 8 Rugged Case
For a brand new product - how could Kensgton not put in a pen holder that is compatible with the latest version of the pen - the slim pen. Their version for the Surface Pro X was already made for it - so why not the one for Surface Pro 8. Sure there is already storage in the keyboard, but if I want to remove the keyboard and use it as a tablet - there is now nowhere to put the pen. Also, from a design perspective - I wish the buttons were recessed so they would not be pressed when the Surface Pro 8 is on a flat surface (like a music stand) in portrait mode. Microsoft made a terrible design choice in surface pro 8 and X in that both of the short sides of the tablet have buttons on them (power on one side, volume on the other) which are pressed when it on a stand. I was hoping this case would eliminate the issue - and it does make the buttons a little less sensitive - but they still get pressed. I am going to try the Maiddos case which seems to have raised corners - to see if that works better. ... show more
