  • its big and works really well
Style: Impeller
It has lots of needed settings. You can set the water level and add an extra rinse. It's quiet and doesn't shake rattle and roll. It just washes the clothes very well and the price was way lower than most washers. And it got here in 2 weeks.

  • Died after 5 months of use! Nightmare!
Style: Impeller
UPDATE 25 OCTOBER 2022: This washer died a few days ago. Repairman just told us it will cost more than washer is worth to fix it so we should buy a new washer. This is the most short lived washer we've ever had! Absolute garbage. It worked ok until its' sudden unexpected death. Kenmore's usual1 year warranty DOES NOT APPLY TO APPLIANCES SOLD BY AMAZON! This has been a VERY EXPENSIVE NIGHTMARE THAT WE CAN'T AFFORD! I can't recommend this worthless garbage to anyone under any condition. This product should not be sold to the public at any price! I will no longer buy any large appliances from Amazon after this experience. 7 years ago (May 27, 2015) we purchased a HE Maytag Bravos EX washing machine. It died at the end of April 2022 so we got this Kenmore yesterday (May 3, 2022) to replace it. As such my review will compare this new machine to the old HE machine rather than the old style non-HE washing machines we had before it. This Kenmore balances loads the same way the Maytag machine did so no learning curve there this time! With our first HE we did have to learn how to best balance the loads. I always make certain I can see the center of the tub when loaded and except for the largest loads this seems to work 9/10 times. This machine is slower to lock the lid than the old machine was but that's a plus in my book as it gives me a few seconds longer to toss in that item that I realize at the last moment, I forgot to add. This machine takes less time with the same loads as my old machine but that might be because I haven't quite figured out how to set it to the same settings as the old one. My clothes came out clean and fresh however so perhaps I won't try to find the old settings quite so much! The water levels seem to be fine compared to the old machine and this machine even allows for using more water during use via the fill level settings which is nice. The end of load chime is very soft but perhaps this is something I'll find a way to increase the volume on. Compared to the old machine, the controls are more involved and detailed (the old one had a knob to turn to what we wanted) but the settings are not impossible to figure out. This one allows a presoak which the old one did not so that's a plus. I have allergies so per my allergy doctor's direction I wash my bedding in hot water once a month, every month. (Sheets get washed weekly in hot) The presoak means I can now use the Lysol Laundry Sanitizer in the machine rather than in my laundry tub which will keep my unfinished basement floor a bit dryer as I won't have to transfer wet stuff to the laundry tub. The included discharge hose leaked like CRAZY so I have already abandoned it but I have not had good luck with the hard plastic discharge hoses ever so I wasn't all that surprised by that. I got a length of 1 ID silicone tubing (Amazon!) and two stainless steel band clamps to connect the water outlet on the machine (which does not protrude very far from the back so connecting the band clamp was more difficult than it needed to be) and then to the inlet barb on my anti siphon stand tube (again unfinished basement so my waste water discharges into a two inch PVC stand pipe buried in the floor). This unusual method doesn't leak and the water pressure seems to open the somewhat soft silicone tubing without issue so I'm happy with that solution. At this point my new Kenmore washing machine is less than 24 hours old and currently working on the 4th load of accumulated laundry but so far it's working great. The Kenmore machine included a small sample of a Tide large load pod, and some Downy Unstoppables that I will not be using as I only buy unscented dye free products when it comes to soaps and laundry detergents. The old machine came with a packet of washing machine cleaner that stunk up our entire house for more than a week but I was rather surprised to see that the Kenmore didn't include a sample of some sort of washing machine cleaner. (We did find a less scented option to wash the machine with.) Our old almost 7 year old machine didn't stink or have slime build up near the soap dispenser drawer like my parents machine did but we were good about using the washing machine cleaner cycle whenever the indicator light came on. I don't know if the Kenmore machine has an indicator light or not but the first thing I did with it was a washing machine cleaning cycle. With the old machine cleaning it every two weeks was far closer to accurate than monthly. Based on soap build up around the drawer area in the old machine we quickly removed it and just dumped soap into the main tub. With this new machine I'm doing the same so far but with the presoak feature I'll likely use the drawer for the soaps when I need to presoak and remove it for a total cleaning (of the drawer unit) after the load is done. With the old machine we also learned to wipe down/dry any wet surfaces inside the machine if we were not going to be putting another load in immediately to keep it fresh. We also left the lid open whenever it was not in active use. (We also ran a dehumidifier near it which reduced the amount that the old machine rusted in our damp basement so we're doing that for this one too.) Also when the Maytag died I first tried to repair it myself based on the error codes. (it ended up being the main board) I noticed that even when there was no water left in it I could still hear sloshing when the machine was moved around. When I gave up on it I completely disassembled it to get it out of my basement and the tub still sloshed despite being completely upside down. When the Kenmore arrived I could hear sloshing before water was ever added to it and before it was even out of the box. This seems to be how HE machines are designed and shouldn't be thought of negatively but I found it interesting. I'll update this if anything changes or in a month or two to confirm that it stayed in great working order. ... show more

  • Awesome Washing Machine
Style: Impeller
It’s been years since we needed to purchase a new washing machine. After looking at so many I was very overwhelmed with all the new features. We chose this one because it is huge, energy efficient and does everything we need to keep our family’s clothes, blankets and even rugs clean and nice, without destroying them. I love everything there is about this one. It is so quiet and cleans our clothes so good with less wrinkles than our old one did. It’s huge so we can wash 2 regular size loads at once now. I definitely plan on buying the matching dryer next. ... show more

  • So happy

I actually found this washing machine at a local appliance store and they said it would be weeks before they could get one in stock. We called a couple large home supply stores and they said the same thing. Hubby decided to check Amazon and we found the same washer for a very comparable price. They delivered in 3 days. Love the washer and the service! ... show more

  • UNRELIABLE AND DISCOURAGING
Style: Agitator
In February, 2022, we bought the Kenmore washing machine based on reputation and from prior purchase. We did extensive research and was impressed with the size of the 5.2 cu. ft tub, the full size Agitator, the "Deep Fill" ability and the variety of settings to customize your wash load. SURPRISE - The machine is taller than standard washing machines and the drum is deeper so a step stool is advisable to reach the bottom. The machine filled with water very slowly all the while the sensors engaged to determine the size of the load to adjust the water height. Without the Deep Fill, the clothes would not be even covered in an acceptable level of water. It was imperative the clothes be dropped straight down and you must be VERY conscience that the weight of the clothes be evenly distributed around the outside of the Agitator. There is no signal or warning if your load is off-center so you should be nearby to "babysit". The Triple Agitator did not create a rapid movement but performed as if it was an Impeller style machine. The clothes casually "swishes" from side-to-side. The sensor malfunctioned repeatedly which would get stuck in a continuous loop of sense, wash, drain, sense, wash, drain, etc. Again, you must be nearby to "babysit". We got 2 different error messages that were not listed in the instruction booklet nor did we find any reference on the internet. We had to unplug and let the machine reset to bypass the Lid Lock and stop the process. We also experienced the fabric softener drained into the empty tub before the washer began. Among the many different settings we used, as an example, the Express Wash took a minimum of 1 hour and Bulky Wash took a maximum of 1 hour & 20 minutes (or more) to wash 1 load (not including the extra rinse). Those numbers are only accurate if the sensor doesn't malfunction. ... show more
