Perfect for smoothing the inside bottom of thrown mugs. I have big hands, so cannot reach into the mug bottom without distorting the sides. This tool is just the trick. Looks like a great quality pottery tool with a very long handle! My wheel is 14". I didnt see a good explanation of how "any sponge" will attach but ordered anyway. Interested to see if the indentation from the screw will effect its performance. Overall I'm excited to give it a try and love that it can except other sponges. ... show more

    • It Works!
Removing excess water from a tall cylinder when my hand won't fit! Although if you're left-handed, you'll need to reverse the threading. Just turn it upside down & reverse it. I throw left and right-handed, so it gets the most use right-handed.

    • Sponge on stick for those hard to reach places
When throwing mugs and vases, it's hard to get my bit mits down there to sweep out any extra water. This does the trick. Takes some abuse and keeps together.

    • sponge is attached with a screw
The sponge is attached to the stick with a screw and I wish this was shown in the pictures. The problem with attaching with a screw is that this tool is usually used to reach inside a vessel while throwing to sponge up excess water but with this set up the screw would scrape the bottom of your work. I'll remove this sponge and attach another (because this one will have a hole) by wrapping a rubber band around it so the part that comes into contact with the work is only sponge. The stick part was still helpful since I needed something that could be delivered. ... show more
