Top Amazon Reviews

  • 3 month update. Satisified but not completely free of problems.
Size: Gateron Brown Color: Black
KEMOVE's Snowfox/Shadow is a great entry option to dip your feet into the expensive world of mechanical keyboards. It's nice to be able to use it both wireless and wired with a mostly seamless experience switching between wired/wireless modes as well as switching between the three different wireless pairings this keyboard supports. The $90 price-point is alright for what this keyboard's worth. It comes pre-installed with a set of PBT shine-through keycaps plus everything mentioned in this review. In addition it does feel like the board had its stabilizers pre-lubed whereas the rest of the keyboard isn't. I've yet to open this keyboard and do my own modifications but rest assured you should be able to (with the exception of the case). As for issues the software is hot garbage, though it's allegedly improved over time I ultimately deleted it from my computer not only because it's difficult to use (such as setting a per-key RGB option) and over a concern of privacy. Another thing that really stands out is at least twice a day I deal with "stuck" keys and the only way to stop the keyboard from typing the stuck key infinitely is to hold the key in or turn the board off and on again. I've had connectivity issues as well and even this being the case when I have the keyboard plugged in. Overall I'm still happy with my purchase but personally I will be doing a custom build after this thing has had its run or when I have the money to blow. Battery lasts a full day of use, layer keys are fairly easy to use and even without the software there's still a few RGB effects to play around with. If Amazon were to support half-stars I'd give this something in between a 3 and 4 star rating. ... show more

  • Latest version - Lubed but Mushy Stabs
Size: Gateron Yellow Color: Black
Edit - Clip your stabs and the mushiness will go away, but the stabs still rattle when you do this. You can fold a band aid over the edge of the stab hole (on the plate) to squeeze it into place a little bit too. This makes the keyboard sound a lot better, but it won't come anywhere near a proper aluminum case. I got this keyboard because I wanted a decent hotswap board that allowed me to try different switches without desoldering anything. I just got this keyboard in the mail about two days ago and wanted to share my thoughts. The keyboard I received as of 1/10/2020 is the latest version of the board. I picked the black (Shadow) variant, meaning that mine shipped with black stabilizers that have been lubed. If you buy the Snowfox variant, the stabilizers will be white. The previous version of the board shipped with yellow stabilizers. I looked under the stabs and don't see any rubber or "band-aid" underneath. Build quality - Pretty decent for a plastic case. Definitely feels heavier than I expected. The PBT keycaps are pretty good as well with a good amount of shine-through for the RGB, but some of them have a slight bit of "spottiness" that prevents the light from fully shining through. Seems to be a common thing with doubleshot RGB-compatible keycaps on other boards as well. Doesn't affect the look of the board too much imo. Do be aware that you CANNOT case swap this keyboard with an aluminum case like the Tofu because it uses a different screw layout. Kemove has announced their own aluminum case on their forums, but it's more expensive than the board itself and looks really ugly in my opinion (it's all round and wide looking). Short version - you're stuck with the plastic case this comes with, but it's not a bad case. Stabilizers - As I said above, my board shipped with the most recent changes to the stabilizers, meaning they are heavily lubed (I thought they were band aid modded, but upon taking them out, the PCB is exposed and has lube on it). Pressing the stabilized keys has little to no rattle aside from the space bar, but my god they are MUSHY feeling. None of the stabilized keys have any sort of "thock" when pressed; they bottom out and almost sound like they are hitting rubber. With a keycap removed, the stems do wobble quite a bit, and the stabilizers themselves do move around in the plate when touching them. Personally the way the stabilized keys feel out of the box is the worst part about the board imo, but some might like it I guess. Hotswap functionality - Works fine as expected, and I'm able to fit all of my test switches into the board without issues. Make sure if you have the keyboard angled up that you push the switches in at a slight upward angle or else they won't seem to fit. I found out that I like Kailh Box Blacks because of this board. RGB - It's pretty good, and it's way brighter than my Ducky Shine 6 with both at full brightness. I will say that this keyboard does offer a lot of built-in presets for the RGB, and they can easily be switched between without using the software. Some of the best presets are actually only usable by activating them in the software though, so if you want to try each individual effect, you'll have to install it and manually select them. I didn't have too many issues getting the RGB to show up the way I wanted it, but I do wish you could customize each "preset" on the board and save it so you can switch between them on the fly without using the software like I can on my Ducky (seems like the built-in presets cannot be overwritten, as far as I know). Software - As everyone else has said, it sucks. The reason WHY it sucks is because a lot of the options don't even make sense. Setting up the RGB effects is pretty straightforward, but there are a lot of "+" buttons that don't even signal what you are adding, or bring up a menu with a list that just says "Default" without even telling you what it is. It seems like you're able to set up your layers with the software, but as I said, nothing is labeled which makes it appear very confusing. I don't really plan on messing with the layout anyway, but it's not something I would attempt without reading some kind of guide. Overall, it's a good board for the price. Just be aware that your stabilized keys will feel mushy and that the software is absolutely just as bad as everyone else has said. If you just plan on using this for gaming or something, it's definitely good enough and feels better than a lot of "gaming brand" boards. The hotswap functionality is definitely the primary feature of this board, so it's good for testing different switches. ... show more

  • A good keyboard with minor issues
The title says it. I enjoy the typing experience, but like most mechanical keyboards, you'll want a wrist rest or perfect ergonomics to keep your writs from hurting after extended use. We mech. keyboard nuts make a lot of sacrifices to get that mechanical experience. For example, any low profile rubber-dome option wouldn't need a rest for you to type for hours (K380 is my personal favorite). Also, for whatever reason, a Bluetooth rubber-dome keyboard will last months or better on two AAA batteries whereas mech. keyboards will last for a week at best. But we put up with these inconveniences because we got to have that clickity-clack. The build quality of this board is great. Good keycaps, stabilizers, frame. It is a pleasure to type on, but you'll probably want a wrist rest. It does everything it says it does with a few caviats, such as: 1.) the software is not great, it's confusing and doesn't offer all the features it should (such as assigning a key to launch a program), but it is a Beta release, so my hope is they will continue improving. 2.) Bluetooth connectivity to Windows 10 is OK, not great, but decent. I do get some interruptions and the occasional repeating keystroke (usually only when the batter is running low) but these are quickly fixed by turning the keyboard off and on again. 3.) this thing has a HUGE battery compared to other offerings but still will only go about a week on a charge (10hr/day use), while this isn't bad, it is nowhere near as good as my K380. Overall, I'm satisfied and WOULD recommend. It does 95% of what I want it too and that other 5% can be remedied in software updates. ... show more
