This is a serious big-boy trowel -- not a dainty little digging-in-potting-soil dollar store trowel. Heavy steel cuts through claggy clay soil and is strong enough to cut thru roots and sod without a whimper. Edge sharpens well. Have used mine for several seasons and was pleased to buy another as a gift for a new gardener.

Wow! This is my go-to for digging through tough clay and tangled roots. I tossed my other digging tools aside after I started using this. I'm involved in habitat restoration and that means digging out invasive plants and vines while leaving native plants. This tool is sharp and well designed. It is slender enough to work around good plants to get to the invasive ones. I got the "tooth trowel" and I can use the serrated edge to rib open bags of potting soil or cut through roots in the soil. Makes it like a 2-in-one tool. Comfortable in the hand. Sturdy. The yellow stripe helps me find it if I lay it on the ground. Highly recommended.

Very nice, very sturdy: will probably last years. The blade is thick steel so it should never fall apart. The handle does fit very nicely into your hand. But I was surprised that it did not come sharpened. A little work on the grinder, no problem, but I would think a "premium" tool would come out of the box ready to go.
