  • Old canoe racers trip.
Size: 2-Person
My husband goes on a canoe trip down the AuSable River twice a year. The group is made up of old canoe racers. The tent is easy to set up and take down. It is easy to pack and carry in the canoes.

  • Great Value Tent
Size: 6-Person
We bought this tent for car camping with two adults and an 18 month old kid and a 30 lb dog. It fit the bill perfectly. We had space for the two of us to sleep, a pack-and-play crib, a folding rocking chair, dog bed and spare room for clothes/stuff/etc. We compared this to two other 6 person tents, each nearly twice as expensive, and even ignoring price, this tent was a pretty clear winner. Things that are great: Easy to set up. This tent has three poles and very simple construction. The sleeves that hold the poles at the corners are also a great innovation that make it a lot easier to set up with one person (the other tents were still using grommets that the poles tended to pop out of). If you're shorter, it may be a little tougher to set up the final pole across the top of the tent with a single person, but if you're bringing a six person tent, you've hopefully got a friend to help out. With two people, we had the tent set up in just over five minutes on our first try. Good rain-fly coverage - This rain fly covers the entire tent. It keeps it a little warmer (which may be a good thing depending on the time of year), but I think it's worth it to have the full coverage. The rainfly only has tie downs in the corners and the vestibules. I'd like to see a loop in the middle of tent to keep it a little more taught, but it didn't seem like a big issue. Doors & Vestibules - You get two doors and vestibules, with a good amount of covered space for gear. Doors and vestibules have nice tiebacks to open things up to a breeze if it's hot and you're not worried about bugs. What's not so good: Interior Pockets - Inside the tent has 4 pockets (plus the two light-diffusing head-lamp pockets). It's a weird number for a 6 person tent. They're also pretty small compared to some other tents. Weight - The poles are heavy. Hopefully you're not backpacking this tent. The silver lining is that the count of poles is lower than most other tents of this size. Duffel is hard to zip, it was tough to put most tents of this size back in their packs, but this duffel seemed the hardest to re-pack. Faulty Shock Cord - The shock cord in the third pole (the short one) snapped on our third time disassembling the tent. Checking it, there's another section of the same cord that looks like it's barely held together that I'm surprised didn't fail too. Customer service for this issue is not so hot; they want you to mail in the pole and wait 4-6 weeks for them to ship a new one. Or Amazon will replace the whole tent. Luckily, shock cord is not essential to the function of the tent (and honestly not really needed on the short pole). It's also pretty cheap and easy to fix yourself. But if all the cord looks like this, I'm not too confident the cord in the other poles won't break soon too. Overall, I'd say this is one of the best six person tents available and for the price, it is the best six person tent available. If it weren't for the shock cord issue, it would easily be a five star tent. ... show more

  • Excellent Tent for camping and backpacking
Size: 2-Person
I love this tent. It is very simple to setup, the rain fly is color coded to the tent so you know where each corner goes, which was a nice subtle touch. I've done a fair share of camping and backpacking. This tent is light, small enough, yet big enough for a single person to sleep and store their gear. One thing to note with this tent is it doesn't come with a ground cover, so you will need to create one or purchase one. Kelty sells one that fits perfectly with this tent and includes a way to attach it to the bottom of the tent ensuring it stays in place. It too is color coded, which again was a nice subtle touch. I look forward to many nights camping in this tent with hopes of passing it down to my daughter/son. ... show more

  • Good all around tent
Size: 4-Person
I have logged about 10 days in this tent so far. I use it for extended rafting and car camp trips. Pros, it easy to set up, Fast to setup, large enough for two cots and to sit fully upright on said cot, double doors and vestibule are handy, it packs to a manageable size, nice carry bag, easy to get it in its bags. Cons Its little heavy with its beefy fiberglass poles, it can get warm on hot nights, even with no fly, also with fly on its even more stuffy, seems stable, but i wish it had more guy lines in the middle to prevent the legs from folding in. The ambient light pocket are more of a novelty. I really like the simplicity of this tent, and the space it gives with out being hard to find a flat spot for. This tent would be best served in cooler environments between 70 and 50 degree nights. I realy wished Kelty would have put reflective lines on it, especially a with futuristic name like the wireless. ... show more

  • Love this tent
Size: 6-Person
Everything I’d expect from a Kelty. My first Kelty was a Salida 2 for backpacking. It withstood downpours and harsh winds and always kept me bone dry so I knew I where to turn for a family tent. Mama has to have a tent she can stand up in, so I was deciding between this and the tall boy. I could already tell I didn’t like the lack of mesh in the tall boy so I went with the Discovery 6. It’s mama, the baby (and his playpen), the pitbull, and myself. This tent has ALL the room we need and more. I also really like this tent having 2 doors w/ vestibules...and the vestibules provide more room than I would ever use. The tent was incredibly easy to set up, when following directions. I failed to follow the instructions when attaching the smaller pole along the top of the tent from door to door and snapped the pole. Kelty initially said it would take 4-6 weeks to fix/replace, but had it back to me in a weeks time. Note I take sole responsibility for the breaking of this pole and don’t believe it was a defect. But be careful. Attaching the rain fly was quite the task by myself (I’m 5’11”)...This tent is just so tall. But of course, is waaaaay easier with a helping hand. This tent has been through 2 heavy rains already and not a single drop of water or condensation inside! Kelty did it again! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 ... show more

  • Nice tent
Size: 4-Person
Nice size when assembled. This is great for car camping. It folds up small, fits easily into the bag and is light weight to carry.

  • Great tent, easy to use
Size: 2-Person
Beware of dogs. My dog ripped the tent in two places. I ended up buying tent repair material because I love this tent. I’d say was a great tent overall. Really enjoyed the packaging and set up. It was so easy from the first step to the last. It kept me warm in 30 degree weather. And it was hot as hell during 65 degree weather. You will definitely want a tarp or some kind of heat blocker in the summer. Overall, I think this tent is worth the money. Just throwing out things to consider. Doesn’t hurt that the colors are very visco girl. ... show more

  • Pole broken out of the box
Size: 6-Person
Seems like a quality tent, but one of the main piles arrived with the nylon cord already snapped, rendering the entire tent useless.
