  • Great Little Development Boards
Great little development boards. Not as versatile as ESP32s but still provide plenty of functionality. The WiFi is easy to setup and use, and programming the peripherals is straight forward. I highly recommend these for projects that need WiFi connectivity.

  • Great for WLED
I have used three of these so far as WLED controllers, and the work really well. The current version, 0.13.2, installs and runs really well. And these came quickly and well-packed, too.

  • 4/5 Stars, one was DOA
They're WeMos D1 Mini clones, that's about all to say. They work great for a pi-hole monitor, Home Assistant sensors, I have 3 controlling lights. The only thing I'll say is that one of mine arrived dead. Can't upload anything to it. So, 4/5 working gets 4/5 stars. I'm not going to reach out to get a replacement or complain, that's a risk you take in getting parts like this. ... show more

  • So many projects for the ESP8266
I've tinkered with ESP8266 (and ESP32) modules off and on for the last couple of years. This year I wanted to add some LED lighting projects for the Holidays. Connecting the ESP8266 to an RGB LED string is quite easy. A search of "ESP8266 and WLED" will find multiple step-by-step directions. Looking for these modules can be confusing with so many form factors offered. This seems to follow the Wemos D1 Mini form factor and plenty of info is available to get you started. I also like the devices came with three different sets of headers depending on your needs. Thanks KeeYees. Now I'm off to look for some expansion shields for even more versatility. ... show more

  • Make sure you have a good cable
I had trouble flashing these with random USB cables I had laying around. I found 1 out of 5 cables would work. Make sure you have the appropriate CH341 drivers. Once I figured out what cable to use it was very easy to flash these and so far they have worked perfectly, so great value for the money. In settings in Arduino/Esphome I set them to WeMos D1 & D1 Mini as they have the same pinout as the D1 Mini it seems. They have a built-in LED you can use as well. Still trying to figure out how to mount these into a more permanent project as they don't have screw holes. ... show more

  • Exactly as described
I have used several of these with no issues.

  • Great for various smart home projects!
A stack of 5 super cheap wifi capable devices. I've used one to control a set of LED lights and another as an IR blaster. Essentially a wifi universal programmable remote, I was surprised at how simple this was. Even with just the two, I'm happy, and I've got three more that are just waiting to be deployed. Having wifi makes them super simple to integrate into Home Assistant too. ... show more

  • Unable to power through 5V pins
I am able to power them through USB and they work fine, but I am trying to bypass the USB and power them through the 5V pin but they don't seem to be able to power up.
