We had another name brand toaster for about a year. Although for the most part it worked well enough, not always were the slices evenly toasted. More than that, the toaster was much larger for a 2-slice than we cared for. We looked at a lot of toasters on Amazon for a week and finally after reading reviews settled on this one. The toaster came well packed, and included three pieces of documentation-- instructions on how to use the dial on the toaster, a safety warning, and an 800 number card to call for help. We only had to view the visual instructions on how to use the darkness dial for a few seconds and then toasted. Voila-- beautifully toasted bread-- both slices. Such a pleasure after our last toaster. Now about the build and appearance. The build is top-shelf. It would look at home on a high end department shelf. It's a beautiful retro-shape-- like an old GM car with a rounded grill. The beige is a beautiful shade and looks excellent on our counter. This toaster will get 5 stars but if I had a quibble it would be this: All toasters should have easy wrap posts on the bottom for the power cable. If the legs were half an inch taller and the cable posts half an inch higher, the cable would be perfectly wrapped on the bottom and the taller legs would lift the toaster up high enough for the power plug to clear the shelf. As it is, once wrapped the toaster rocks slightly because the power plug is taller than the legs. But I feel silly even complaining about this because the entire package is such a delight to use. Beautiful toaster, not too big so I can easily put in cabinet when not using. It looks like home decor when on the counter. Love the Retro look. And most importantly it toasts perfectly. They include a "toast" guide and it does toast true to the guide. Great addition to our kitchen.

The toaster is attractive in a retro way. The guide tells you what setting to use for the desired doneness you like, but if you think the toast is getting too brown, just hit the easy to use ‘cancel’ button. I haven’t had a good toaster since the ‘70’s; they either under-toast or burn the bread. This toaster is reasonably priced and works the closest to old fashioned toasters we took for granted. ... show more

    • Toast darkness increases gradually if making a lot of toast. Otherwise a great toaster
We bought this toaster to replace the 4-slicer we had previously that had stopped working on one side. We decided to go with a 2-slicer so save on counter space. This is a simple toaster. It has an adjustable browning knob and bagel and thaw settings, which is really about all you need in my opinion. One small negative is that if you are doing more than about 4 slices of toast in quick succession, you will need to lower the browning setting to maintain the same darkness. I think that once it gets hot, it simply cooks faster so you need to adjust the setting if doing a lot of toast. As a whole though, we are happy with this toaster. It looks nice on the counter, it works well, and saves space over a big bulky 4-slicer. If not for the browning control issue, it would be 5 stars ... show more

I love this toaster! My toaster sits on the counter and this guy looks like a Cadillac! It's so fun, great retro look, rather compact but the slots are big enough to fit fat unevenly cut bagels. Toasts evenly. I've had it for a few months now and I am 100% pleased with my purchase.

Love the look. Works great. My last toaster always burned my toast. I thought it was the type of bread I was using. This one doesn't do it. Love the color of this one, looks good with everything. I was so sick of my stainless steel one. Im so over stainless.

The media could not be loaded. Fast forward to the end of my video review where you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. I had high hopes for this toaster, mainly because of its cute design that would have worked perfectly in my eclectic kitchen. Unfortunately, the toaster is a dud right out of the box. Two of the burn elements are defective, producing toast that is burnt on one side and haphazardly toasted on the other. I made a video to showing the defect and corresponding bad toast results. Prior to my test, I followed the instructions and "empty" toasted on 6 to get any smells out of the toaster. I then waited about 30 minutes before testing out the toaster with real bread. ... show more
