I have never owned KEENs before. I do however have wide feet and toes that like to splay out. I love to hike especially in the mountains. If you’ve ever hiked inclines, you know how unfortunate it feels to have squished and bruised toes. I debated on a size 8 or 8w. I decided to go for the 8w. I will say they are very wide. For me, I love this. But I want to give the disclosure that I believe the regular size also runs a little wide as well. The insoles in these are a dream. Not memory foam soft, but comfortable right out of the box. They are sturdy enough to feel like you have enough support. I LOVE that these have a strap on the side. This allows you to tighten the boots around your ankle and keeps your feet from pushing to the front of the boot. For inclines, this is so so important. The arch support is phenomenal. These are very waterproof from what I have tested them in. Puddles and small streams mainly. KEEN as a brand have been pfas free since 2018 and keep the environment in mind when making products. I wear these for hiking and daily use. The last pair I bought did have a piece of the rubber come off of the bottom tread but this is my third pair in about 5 years so I will continue to buy in spite of that one issue. This is my second pair. The first pair I bought from a retailer I still use on less hilly terrain as I've worn down the tread. I've easily hiked 700 humocky miles and some road walks, in all kids of weather, with my first pair. I liked them so much that I bought a second pair thru Amazon. These are not waterproof boots. I'd say more water resistant. It helps to occassionally (at least annually) clean and condition the leather boots with a proper leather cleaner to retain the water repelancy and leather's condition thus extending the life of the boot. The insoles can be removed for easy drying or if you need to insert an orthodic or a replacement insole. The soles grip nicely to rugged trails. The boots provide good ankle support and offer great toe protection from rocks, roots, stumps, etc. The wide toe box allows my toes room for expansion in hot summer or for heavier socks in winter. ... show more

Love these hike boots for mild weather hiking. I would not say they are 100% waterproof. OK for morning dew from grass but if you use in a rain soaked field the boots were soaked inside! very comfortable, no break-in time and lightweight but secure. These hiking boots were the most comfortable and best performing shoes I could imagine for hiking. We hiked four national parks in 3 weeks in these boots. They were so comfortable I’d prefer wearing them to almost any shoes in my closet. You will be glad you bought them when you hike steep, slippery wet, snowy and icy surfaces. I never slipped, not even on those wet granite stairs on the Mist Trail at Yosemite! Worth every penny! ... show more

I have not had these for that long yet but so far they have proven to be pretty comfortable! They have slight arch support and I can definitely tell a difference from my old boots. They seem to be holding up well with getting wet. I stood in a few inches of water and my feet did not get wet inside. The ties stay secure with the hooks which is nice as well ... show more
