Hubs and I both purchased this boot and just came back from our first hike. WE BOTH LOVE THEM! CANNOT SAY ONE THING NEGATIVE ABOUT THEM. BUT HAVE PLENTY OF POSITIVES TO LIST: - no breaking in, comfy right out of the box (big plus) - beefy tread/lugs on the sole & kept traction on packed down ruts and in fluffy 6" deep snow - waterproof so far but we have a very dry snow right now (will update after we hit slush) - I appreciated the set-back lace hook to tighten the heel to prevent slipping (my right foot is a bit smaller than my left) - the entire boot is beefy and is a true hiking boot but not so stiff that the ankle cuff cuts into the leg - handsome dark brown with black trim and the classic Keen toe! - laces were long enough for all the boot eyes and then some - a plus - not too heavy of a boot to cause fatigue while hiking - here's how sizing worked for us; Hubs normally wears a 7.5W yet the 8M fit him perfectly; Me: I wear womens 7.5M but the mens 7M fit really well - we've tried on about 15 pairs of hiking boots, both thru Amazon and at a local brick 'n mortar and we could not be more pleased with selecting these boots Best of the best. Keen ... You've done it again! Thank you! UPDATE: Waterproof during slushy/melted snow. Will review after a big slush event.

Great shoes! This is my second pair of these, The previous pair I wore every day as work boots in the snow/rain ect..and they lasted two years until the sole separated. I’ve worn other brands of keen shoes prior to these that had a dual sole construction but the soles blew out within a month, so keep in mind that all styles are not made equal and try to buy a style that has a single pice sole construction! The other good thing about keen is they stand by there warranty and gave me a full refund for the bad ones

Superior boots to other brands. Better Materials for longer lasting boot. The reason I made this purchase was the shoelace "eyelets" are better than the other brand that use a fabric to hold the lace and the Keen boots use a metal hook. The other shoes failed long before the rest of the shoe was worn out. The fit is perfect and they are quite comfortable right outta the box. Because the boots are made with tougher materials a break in period should be expected.

Assembled in the USA! I have very wide feet (10 EEE) and have shopped for new hiking boots for way too long. Finally decided to try the Keens - very glad I did! They fit right out of the box and have a nice wide toe box (which you can see in the pictures). The Keen Dry material has kept my feet dry so far. The sole is very grippy and aggressive, great for hiking and other similar outdoor endeavors. The upper leather is not too still and toe kick to help protect your little piggies. Reasonable price and initial quality seems very good (had them almost a month with regular wear). Would definitely recommend especially for those with wider feet.

I have a tendency in the past to purchase boots that were on sale, price shop too much, etc. The bottom line is: if you are looking at doing any trail hiking at all, it is worth paying for boots that fit will, provide support, etc. I added Powerstep inserts to these boots to help support my arches, and these are THE BEST AND MOST COMFORTABLE BOOTS I'VE EVERN WORN OR OWNED!!! I'm so impressed. We did about 20+ miles backpacking only a few weeks after I purchased these boots. I was comfortable every step, even wearing these boots all day. They seem sturdy enough I'd expect them to last for 5+ years (not for daily use in my case). My wife loved Keens before I got these, and now I'm convinced I will never get anything else!

Within two weeks of normal wear - no hiking, no "work" activities, etc. - the stitching on the left boot where the toe seam and the side seam meet at the sole came unstitched and separated from the sole. This is the exact same defect I have seen in two other reviews. It is too bad because the boots are extremely comfortable and really fit well for my wide feet. I was actually contemplating some shoe glue because I really like the look and feel, but on closer inspection, the leather right there is so thin it was actually starting to tear away from the sole, in addition to the stitching coming undone. For the price, these should last a lot longer and be much more durable. Really a shame, but from the looks of other reviews, this seems to be a common defect in this particular Keen design.

Wide is not the old Keen wide size. These seem great but are too narrow for my feet. I tried ordering 1/2 size larger and same. Keen , we need double wide size.
